Back in 1965, my father did exactly what you are advising . As a truck driver, he had easy access to used pallets for free. He'd take 2 broken ones and make one good one. Then sell it for $2 to $3 each.... or more for newer ones. He started this business in his garage... eventually bought a building .. quickly started making $100,000 clear a year. I'm a pallet builder and make great money doing it... im not sure where this information is coming from but it is not entirely accurate. Most middle to larger size companies have to buy their incoming pallets from a company, said company also buys the cores (broken pallets) back from the company they supply. Second, there are a lot of, "pickers." Those are the guys who go around making money collecting pallets. You usually see them with a beat up truck and pallets stacked so high they look like a hazard. They can make $500+ a day in the warm months. The catch is that they are in and out of jail constantly because most of their pallets are stolen from company yards...

Bro. There was a show on this concept and I couldn’t really keep up with the airing. I’m going to fucking crush it. Thanks for the hustlers revitalization
One thing I will say, if you're going to do this, make certain you clear this with whoever you're wishing to get pallets from. Big box stores tend to be tight on the pallets as they are reused and/or sent back to distribution, and you can forget about any pallets used for concrete and cinder block, as they get charged for any pallet that isn't returned to the distributor, which is also why places like Lowe's or Home Depot charges a "pallet charge" whenever you buy concrete and wish to keep it on the pallet.
Very true, standard 40x48 pallets are not ever left out to be stolen. The pallets are often swapped 20p of mdse in 20 empty pallets out. CHEP and PECO pallets are purchased and inventoried. Soda companies swap their pallets and also use plastic pallets. The only pallets left out are garbage or odd sized pallets
Many places give them away. I worked for a few. One place in particular makes cancer treatments and gets European oak palettes, hundreds per day. If you want them they are yours.
@@Jerome2JR4 Curious, what's the size of that company? It seems like the size of the company is important when considering whether they're tight with their pallets or not.

When I was a flat bed driver my company paid us to bring back our 4×4 dunnage and pallets. You could easily make an extra $10-$20 a day, but most drivers wouldn't do it. I figured out how to get one of my customers to give me $100 to pick up all of their pallets on Fridays. Then my company turned around and paid me like $75 for brining those pallets back. CHA-CHING$$$$ 😂
My dad used to cut and sell wood using a sawmill that be built himself from scratch. He used to build and sell pallets too. He made decent money off of it.
From a courier in an industrial warehouse area in NJ I can attest to the massive use and supply of pallets. Rules are all over the board-some places give them away; some charge you for them; some pay you to take them away. This hustle takes some leg work but it’s a realistic business IF you have a truck and storage location.
@@77bigtim tons of places-some Lowe’s & Home Depot will give them away. Otherwise look for large warehouses. If you see high stacks of pallets outside just ask someone if you can have them. If there’s a security guard they would know who to ask. If they say help yourself maybe tip them a few bucks and they’ll be more likely to let you come back for more.
And if you think you'll make 1k a day your dreaming, I worked for XPO logistics and we needed pallets, we had 120 docks at my terminal, and if you came to try and sell those pallets we needed... You'd make nothing because they don't buy pallets, everything we load and offload is already on a pallet, if it's damaged you basically go and try to find one.
@David Wang Waaaaahhhhh, yes you can. Start on your own with one truck. Earn enough in 4 to 6 months to lease or buy another and hire senior drivers with great driving records. Rinse and repeat.
Did something like this 10 years ago. Used to get my dvds for $0.75 after taxes at the pawn store near my home , traded each one to a game store that offered $1.00 plus $0.10 trade in credit. Then I took that trade in credit and bought any video game that was on sale for $1.00 and sometimes buy one get one free and would end up with double the amount of movies that I bought. Sell the games back to the pawn store at $2.00 a piece. Did this for a year until the game store decided to move south. Made at least $250.00 a week doing this after gas and buying the games and movies. This definitely helped with bills and other things
This means you had to be going thru approx 1000 dvds/week at only .25 cents profit per dvd to make $250/wk...smells like bs..or your math is just way off
Tried this in Baltimore a few years ago. The pallet broker would pay only $1 per 40x48 pallet in good condition. Wouldn't touch any other size no matter how good it was. We wound up cutting up about 150 pallets and burning them in my fire pit. So, this was not a viable business where I was at.
That's Awesome Daniel! Did you end up picking up a load of pallets and selling all of them at one time? What was your process like? Would love to learn! Best wishes, Jasper
I used to manage a pallet company many years ago and its not that easy. If you have a pick up truck and simply want to make a quick buck, then just go to businesses who are looking to get rid of them, and sell them to a pallet company for quick cash. Don't assume that when you see pallets behind your local Shoprite food store that they will just give them away. You have to ask a a manager first or it can be considered theft. However, If you want to get into the repair and resale of them, you will have a lot of expenses involved. First, you have to find a yard/building/ truck or trucks/forklifts to store, repair, transport and sell them. You also have expenses for equipment such as air compressors , pneumatic nail guns, nail refills, breaker tools. Also, there are many different sizes of pallets that many companies use so you will need the yardage to store the different sizes. You also have to hustle finding companies willing to buy from you on a continuing bases. I have never sold only 10-20 pallets at one time. It has always been by the hundreds. You will not be able to do it alone. You will need workers to help repair pallets because no company buys broken ones. Then once you open this business, people will hustle pallets TO YOU in their pick up trucks for quick cash! Good luck.
So Peter, thank you for being transparent about this, I have another question for your.... So these people that are "selling" their course to do it= what do you know about that? how much is the course and is it worth it? thanks in advance

@@TheUtubewatcher2010 basically they are “selling” you the same information that I gave you for free in my original post. I managed the company for a few years so I think I know what I am talking about. If you do start up a small company and get all of the equipment I listed above, lease it don’t buy it so in case your company fails or you decide that this isn’t your cup of tea, you can just turn in the equipment to the lease company rather than you trying to sell everything.
When I was in high school me and a buddy would sell pallets to get beer/gas money. we would stack 25 in the bed of a Chevy s10 lol haven't thought about that in years. Great video!
That’s really funny! I saw an s10 with a ton of pallets in the bed a couple months ago, no straps! Hope you used a strap or two lol. He gave me a nod and i gave him a thumbs up when i went by
Pallets are shot together with nail guns. The nails have a glue on them that is heat activated when the compressor forces the nail into the wood fibers. Trying to pull these nails out well... you will have better luck trying to brush a badgers teeth. If your time is not worth squat than waste it working pallets. Most are unwanted. Those buying will chisel your 4$ pallet down to 2 and even 1$. Then there's your gas and the wear and tear on your truck. If you are a thinking man, you will figure out that it is costing you money to do this. You will find yourself in a business of progressively diminishing decline. That means that you are working your truck towards broken and yourself towards broke.
Im gonna make a Small little shack out of pallets and plywood and ill get some electrition help ofc but its way better than spending money on an expensive house
I have to say I have never heard of this. My family’s business uses a lot of pallets daily both coming in and going out and pallets are scarce. No one is wanting to get rid of their pallets let alone pay someone to get them. People have approached our business to buy the pallets and we do not sell them at all. Maybe in your area this is a thing but that would not be a lucrative business where I’m at. Maybe I’m missing something but pallets are like gold here and everyone is hanging onto them tight.
Good video bro. I asked about this business yesterday made a call to find buyers and first call a guy was like I’ll buy all you have. I was like wow it’s something with this. I started recruiting pallets same day.
Jack, 25 years ago, say circa 1995-96, I was living in South Dakota and one of my friends did this on the side. Used high school teenagers and the labor force and paid $1.00 for each pallet the kid repaired. His yard had hundreds of pallets at any given time!
If your taking pallets to the yard, make sure they’re in good condition. They pay(the yards I dealt with) based on size type and condition. The closest yard to me is an hour and a half drive. And the city doesn’t look to kindly on stacking pallets until you get enough to make it worth the drive.

There's a big difference in making a "as is" product where you aren't innovating and a tech field where innovation is all that matters. People will always buy pallets and pallets aren't changing. The risk/reward is very different. Everything other than profit motive is different.

What’s some good places to get pallets? I’m please and thank you in advance!!!
Some big box stores don’t get rid of or sell pallets, they send them back and fourth to save money that way.
I am in Baltimore I’m looking into this did you have a buyer or you did you only go to a pallet yard and did you try it only once or repeatedly!?
You don’t seek it back to the pallet yard. You have to find businesses that are in need of them.

That's Awesome Daniel! Did you end up picking up a load of pallets and selling all of them at one time? What was your process like? Would love to learn!

Picked up from my job, sold all but one badly damaged pallet at local pallet yard.😀
@@TheUtubewatcher2010 I know nothing about these courses offered but I think I gave everyone a "course" for free in what to do with pallets!
@@WARPSPD yes and I started off by thanking you for that, then I asked what do you know about the people who sell the course? I am "youtubing" pallet business and there are people offeing it, so I wanted to know from you what that was about. Thank you in advance
@@WARPSPD thank you I dont like Pyramid scams!!
Aahhh you were a cav scout nice thanks for your service!
He gave me a nod and i gave him a thumbs up when i went by
I have an s10.... im about to do this.
Do you think they will fit in two a 2012 f150
I love America you literally make money from anything
Pallets are shot together with nail guns. The nails have a glue on them that is heat activated when the compressor forces the nail into the wood fibers. Trying to pull these nails out well... you will have better luck trying to brush a badgers teeth. If your time is not worth squat than waste it working pallets. Most are unwanted. Those buying will chisel your 4$ pallet down to 2 and even 1$. Then there's your gas and the wear and tear on your truck. If you are a thinking man, you will figure out that it is costing you money to do this. You will find yourself in a business of progressively diminishing decline. That means that you are working your truck towards broken and yourself towards broke.
don't forget if you ever got stopped by the dot and they inspect your truck and trailer....
You think he's hustling us🤔
I'll beat you up for those pallets...so watch yo baaaaack!
Good video bro. I asked about this business yesterday made a call to find buyers and first call a guy was like I’ll buy all you have. I was like wow it’s something with this. I started recruiting pallets same day.
How much did they offer per pallet
Jack, 25 years ago, say circa 1995-96, I was living in South Dakota and one of my friends did this on the side. Used high school teenagers and the labor force and paid $1.00 for each pallet the kid repaired. His yard had hundreds of pallets at any given time!
I'd be a millionaire today
I'm getting ready to go Into the TRAILER BUSINESS moving pallets
Building materials, anything
If your taking pallets to the yard, make sure they’re in good condition. They pay(the yards I dealt with) based on size type and condition.
The closest yard to me is an hour and a half drive. And the city doesn’t look to kindly on stacking pallets until you get enough to make it worth the drive.
City wants their cut Thats why!
What’s a Good Price to Get Per Pallet & What’s a Bad Offer Not Worth It?
@@andresmith440 I recommend looking for buyers around your area. Find out their prices. It will vary day to day like scrap metal.
