    For boomers and senior citizens, the current market and economy are unnecessarily harder. I'm used to simply purchasing and holding assets, which doesn't seem applicable to the current volatile market, and inflation is catching up with my portfolio. My biggest concern is whether I'll survive after retirement.

      Yes, gold is a great investment and a good bet against the devaluating dollar, been holding some for awhile now, I’m grateful my adviser’s moment by moment changes in the market are lightening quick, cos who know how much losses I would’ve had by now.

      Gar Leto yes, that's what I keep wondering. If the economy is so great then interest rates should be back around historically normal levels and there should be budget surpluses. Budget deficits should only happen when there is a downturn in the economy.

      Gee Willickers Those in the central banks who call themselves Keynesian are nothing of the sort. Keynes policy was totally different. They are neoclassical economists and Peter Schiff is spot on re the actual state of the economy. I am not an Austrian economist but I do see the same economy as Peter. It is a bubble and overdue for collapse.

    If the economy is doing so good, why aren't we paying off the debt ? If deficits are rising due to job creation and consumer spending, why isn't personal debt going down ? If people looking for jobs are less than jobs available, why isn't the wage growth substantially higher ? Overall, if we're doing so good, why do we need more stimulus (Tax cuts) ? Shouldn't the businesses in this great economy be asked to pay higher taxes, so that the debt burden is reduced in golden times? Well, the truth to all the above is that Peter is right and this is all a bogus game with rigged markets, rigged numbers and rigged people.

      Yup. Just like the mortgage crisis we have ignorant investors who think the good times will last forever. And we have the paid smucks that go around telling everyone that everything's ok. Just keep giving us your money. Nothing to see here folks. Even "ordinary" citizens are waking up the fact that something is terribly wrong as we watch the American dream completely disappear as wages remain stagnant and the quality of jobs continue to decline. There's an obvious disconnect between wall street and main street. We are near all time highs while at the same time breaking records for the amount of people slipping into poverty. The capitalists will continue to tell you how good everything is until the dominoes begin to fall. This disconnect is what we call a bubble. Both sides can't be right. And I'm willing to bet that, one again, it's wall street that in it and still pumping it full of hot air because it's profitable. At least for now...

      Sounds familiar.
      The Fed took plantation land after the emancipation proclamation and charged the owners full price and a tax to get the land back .
      That is the real reason of the Civil war.
      Also now you see the FED seizure of marijuana land .
      They are regulating the fuck out of that too.
      Now that everyone is force to buy medical the black market gets bigger.
      More arrests more pissed off kids .

      If you watch the News in America you have to take everything they say in the context of the bias they have. It's like asking someone from San Francisco if NBA Superteams are bad. They're obviously biased in favor of the Warriors acquiring All Stars. Whatever argument they give you will be flawed.
      Peter Schiff is not a typical partisan shill. He approached the question with data, common sense, and economic accumen.

    • @juju10683
      @juju10683 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      "A broken clock is right twice a day" seems to apply to Peter. The other guy is biased because his title is "republican strategist." The truth is probably somewhere in between. Do your own research. The truth is rarely pure and never simple.

    • @bullbythehorns808
      @bullbythehorns808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Keeping em honest was referring to THIS video and the job numbers and fact this admin, like the last 2, has increased our deficit even further...you ran straight to how he is crazy about economy failing and buying gold so clearly your comments are regarding things outside of this video. I dont see why he is wrong about anything he discussed here.

    • @bullbythehorns808
      @bullbythehorns808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Truth I must be dumb because I couldn't make out which part of the interview you think he's wrong about. Do you feel the deficit hasn't gone up? Or that the unemployment numbers are more accurate now than they were in past? Do you have a problem with what he was talking about in this video? Or just feel his character and record is so bad in your mind that everything he says is irrelevant to you?

    • @bullbythehorns808
      @bullbythehorns808 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Truth well i interpret all the fatcts peter presented in same way as he does here. But guess I would be biased since I'm unemployed and can't find a job I'm not grossly overqualified for. Hence why I can respond to youtube comments in middle of the day. Lol

      Trump has already achieved his objective; which was to massively reduce taxes for corporations and billionaires like himself. Corporations will pocket trillions in extra profits now. And those profits are paid for by debt that the US tax payer owes (the corporations are not on the hook for that debt at all). He couldn't care less what happens to the rest of you losers...MAGA!

    The key number for the debt repayment is the number of net taxpayers. The number of net tax payers is about a third of the number of taxpayers.
    That means that the debt per net taxpayer is about 3 times the debt per taxpayer.
    Only net taxpayers can pay back the debt.

    I agree with Schiff. Good employment numbers don't mean anything if the jobs aren't worth a shit. I worked a quarter of a century at a Bank of America Facility that in my first year employed about 4,000 employees with middle class jobs with fringe benefits and pensions. The last year before I retired there were less than 500 employees with a lot of Independent contractors with no fringe benefits and 1-year contracts. In other words, no job stability and no provision for retirement. I'm just grateful as a baby boomer that I got in with a real middle class and not this house-of-cards phony economy.

    @Peter Schiff, some of my clients work very closely with some of the counties here in Washington state. They all said the same thing about unemployment figures and most figures in general, Democrat or Republican - the numbers are skewed by moving people from the unemployed column the disability column, essentially. I am willing to bet disability has skyrocketed. The numbers mean nothing, because they're all lies.

    Remember that Trump negotiated a trillion of new investments from Asia, $500b from Saudi Arabia, and has enabled US cos to repatriate several trillion in offshore funds (Apple alone just brought back $350b). These tremendous events along with the tax rates cuts and reduced regs is massively different than the situational under Obama and will make the US economy skyrocket, but it takes time.

    pretty sure people just don't understand that the unemployment rate is just another thing that can be "fooled" into looking lower when in actuality, it is, yet its bad jobs. its jobs of places with high turnover, its minimum wage, its creation of the shittiest jobs in the country. so ya, boast rates, but don't deal with the reality of it.

      Truth I'm buying heavily into silver/ gold coins, cannabis stocks, Globalive AI Blockchain technology and into cryptos which I thought is a ponzi scheme, an illusion of wealth . If you don't protect yourself and ya family, well, most Americans will end up in a WEMA camp and Europe is now building the walls to keep the yanks out. A greater 1929 world economic depression is knocking at your country door . American economy is as dead as a dodo and Dotard Trump is still faking it because he's a pathological liar and a political cowboy in English sense.

    • @LeoChanlch
      @LeoChanlch 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      you're right I agree crypto is risky, there are many scams in the space right now when there are so much hype around. But that's not to say the technologies behind some solid coins are bogus. You are mixing up a bubble with a ponzi scheme. Anything speculatives can turn into a bubble whereas a ponzi scheme often associates with goods/services that has little or no intrinsic value and fraud layering systems. Take the Dot com bubble as an example, the hype turned it into a bubble but the internet (tech behind) remains valuable. This is very similar to what we have with blockchain which is going to be mass adopted within the next 5-10 years
