    UPDATE: The trolley we had on this video was WORSE THAN USELESS. We got rid of it and bought one that has the large pins on top that go through the scupper holes. That is MUCH better.

    That motor mount won't last and a 34 LB transom snake a better choice more options. 🐊

    I was hoping to see the test run out in the wild ocean. It's a posh setup, as for the battery support I'd be chuckin' a couple of blocks of wood either side of it but I am a rough unit. Looking forward to seeing you hook a monster.

      Ah, the test vid will be out soon, just got back from Augusta where it blew its guts out for 9 of the 10 days we were there. Some interesting observations to come including the main one - I have to lose weight!

    What an absolute pain in the arse! Glad you got there in the end. Looking forward to seeing the videos out on the water though :D

    I just started watching your vids based on camping in WA. We moved to Rockingham this year and I am looking at kayaks! For local and motor home we are waiting for delivery, so I am loving your content, thank you so much.. cheers, phil

      Glad you found the content useful. I should get the kayak out more often but it has been fun and pretty easy to take on the road when we have used it.

    Go lithium. It’s a game changer. They aren’t that much more expensive if you look around for a good deal. Ive always thought that kayak fishing would be good fun.. will watch and see how you go..

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the first test has shown me that either I go lithium or I have to lose weight (not entirely a bad idea) as with the AGM it sat much too far down in the water. This is going to be a real calm water craft for me until I can shed a few kilos, but then I bought it to get more exercise so hopefully it will speed up the process.

    recently bought a Titan myself, haven't dropped her in the water yet, so looking at vids from others to get an idea of how to best fit her out. Thanks for the tips!

    You just got a dodgy one because mine the cords stick to the side of the kayak and pedal runs smoothly

      Yes, I guess so. A bit of a pity nobody actually checks the products properly before they get sold.

    That little channel behind the battery well is called a motor bar slot. You didn’t need to drill holes

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes depends on the mounting, the bar is a different way of doing it.

    How long does the battery last with the motor going constantly?

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to use it enough to know yet. Hoping to get it back in the water once the weather warms up a bit so I will keep your question in mind once I have a chance to really use the motor for a longer time. I have heard others with these motors say that about an hour on full power and nearly double that on half power can be achieved but I'm not entirely sure what size batteries they were using.

      A year on, how's the kayak going and how long does the battery last with the 24lb? Can you do another video!!

    Those rod holders on the tracks are normally tightened up so they dont move. We have bought 2x18lb Watersnakes for our Hobie Revolution 11,s, along with 2x 50AH FPV lithium batteries. Which should last us all day, but at $550 each not cheap but oh so light. Waiting to see how the test day on the water goes. Have been to Kayaks 2 Fish in Bibra Lake as well, just to buy some accessories and didnt have clue and no stock. Gave them a real crap review on their Facebook page Good luck with the Primal, have heard good and bad about them

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just back from testing it out and there are problems (mostly associated with weight - mine) but the vid will be out in the next few weeks. The Watersnake was a lot better than I expected.

    Perhaps get some loctite for the bolts, it works a treat. Nice work.

    Hi mate. Is the motor gonna be damaged if the kayak tipped out?

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good question, there is no IP rating given with the motors so I am guessing that submerging them completely would be bad for them. The other problem is securing the battery so that it doesn't end up sinking if the yak tips over.

    • @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen
      @WesternAustraliaNowAndThen  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have found that it depends on the conditions. In a choppy sea is isn't great but as I am over 120kg, I tend to make it far too top heavy.
