@@andrewhotston983 indeed they do happen. They said it happened at the depot but the depot was further down this happened in the what they call it is the new sidings opposite the washer sidings. The sidings end under the bridge and I've never seen this sidings in use much ither.

As somebody who has a *very* strong fondness for the 395s, this was very difficult to watch. Especially as I _think_ 008 might've been the set which took me on that very first trip along HS1... 💥🚄😢 Glad to hear that there were no injuries though. If this sort of thing _has_ to happen then during a shunting incident is *far* preferable to during passenger service! 👍
Will they try pulling it back onto the rails or uncouple everything that is still on the rails ? I suppose this salvage operation will happen overnight to not cause any delays…

@ As much as I respect your opinion, I don’t feel that it’s valid. If this was a rail industry TH-cam channel then maybe your opinion would hold more water. The fact is a low speed crash such as this is most likely to be driver error imo, so making such an assumption is perfectly valid imo.

Britain's stuck fastest needs a different word than the technically correct 'derailed' - it's more like 'past buffers' or 'ran out of track'. Took me a bit of skipping about in the video to work out what I was looking at.

Wtf happened there? It's thanks to the amazing engineering and durability of the 395 that it remained upright and damage was negligible

Technically, they'd be trap points. Catch points are to derail runaways on hills; trap points protect against incursions onto the main line.
