I tried different methods to get my head bald with no irritation and bumps. The best for me so far is using a balding clipper and following it with a foil razor. I do this every 4-5 days and it's working well. I like that it's also cost effective. Replacing razors can get pricey. It also takes me less time to do. Great video.
I very recently decided to go bald, after cutting myself repeatedly and irritating my skin I appreciate the tips! I will try your method on my next shave.
Try Feather platinum coated blades made in Japan. They're the sharpest I've used. I like that Nivea moisturiser, it smells nice but its pretty expensive here in the UK.
3 Years later & i still have a bunch of blades left aha I may pick those up after I run out. Heard about them before. & Yeah Im loving that moisturizer!
Great content Nate. I just started shaving my head back in June of 2020. And I shaved my head today (January 2nd 2020). My barber pointed out to me I am starting to get bumps on my head, which made it a little difficult for him to use the clippers. However, my head still appears normal. I want to keep rocking the bald head. So the tip you gave on this video is pretty helpful. Thanks!
Why not use electric clippers/shaver? Would that not work better for razor bumps? Genuinely curious as I’m getting ready to shave my head for the first time.
Thank you, King. You taught me A LOT. I cut mine for the first time yesterday, and it turned out really good. I did everything you did and bought some products to moisturize my head after. Bye bye to my barber. 😁👋🏾
The safety razor is a DOPE investment. You don't need the bump patrol. I use water and the safety razor. I never got razor bumps and I shave from side to side after I go with the grain.
Yup! It was definitely a step up from tryna get a clean shave with a tblade trimmer ahah & yeah water works too but you gotta apply it over & over. Nice method for shower shaving tho to avoid getting soap in your eyes. & lucky you. Some ppl are able to shave in a million directions & be fine. Others turn into a crunch bar aha
I use the micro touch one blades, also the Van Der Hagen blades as well! I use the Van Der Hagen shave soap, brush, & the post shave lotion! I like it, it’s perty good stuff! I also use the gilette after shave gel, the lotion 1st then the gel, I find that It helps cut down on razor burn, & bumps! I’d like 2 try other kinds of head shave products but, dayum that shits expensive!
New subbie, & my first vid. Since I am permanentely going to keep my full baldness, Imma gonna take notes. I cannot do the shave head thing due to strokes, yea, that IS my avatar, so anyway.....Bless you for this channel.
Have you ever tried using extra virgin coconut oil? It works great and very cost effective. I've watched a lot of your videos 💯💯. All you'll have to do is use the warm rag, and after wash with antibacterial soap.
Wayne Epps I usually wash my head with hot water in the shower afterwards & use regular shampoo, but use a cold washcloth on my head afterwards! After my head has dried good I use the Van Der Hagen post shave lotion & gilette shave gel over my head! I usually don’t have any issues with razor burn or bumps! My question tho is, what does the antibacterial soap do?
When I cut with the grain I still feel stubble and its not close enough it grows back to quick, how can I get a closer Shave going with the grain cause I'm so close to going Against the grain just to get a closer shave HELP ME BRO PLEASE! thanks
I tried going with the grain myself but it is way too stubbly. I go against the grain with a safety razor but you can try going side to side if you don't want to risk it. That'll get closer than just with the grain
Hey if this doesn't work it my be the razor depends on hair texture 1, 2, & 3 blade if you got red hair or that nap up lmao 😂 try a 3 your hair is thick. You don't want to keep going over the same spot to many times. With the grain and then side ways . Oh most important wash your head with shampoo and conditioner with moisturizer.2 twice a day
i'm using a headblade rn and it does the job, but that safety razor looks buttery, would you recommend the safety razor for a more clean and quicker shave?
Hey brother I have a question. My hair line is bad so I'm shaving my head now and looking for grooming tips. I'm not educated in the possible differences, if any, between Caucasian and African American hair/skin care products. Are the products you use relevant to my hair? If they are I will definitely keep getting tips from you. I hope none of this sounds offensive lol like I said I need more knowledge on the matter. I enjoyed the video btw!
Sure you can. Just go a 2-3 passes and you should be good. I´ve done it for a few years and you just need just take it slow. Mind you, sharper blades are the ticket.
How I do mine is that I use a hot rag & warm my head up good & use hot water 2 put on my head & lather it with the van der hagen shave soap, & brush. I shave with the grain 1st then afterwards I restart the process over again with the hot rag, then relather, & go against the grain, I feel around 4 missing spots! After that I shower & wash my head, then after my shower I use a very cold rag & lay it on my head, after my head has dried completely I use the van der hagen post shave lotion, & use the gilette after shave gel! Makes it smell good gives it a bit of a shine, & makes it really smooth! I very seldom ever have razor bumps! My key thing is hot cloth b4 & cold cloth afterwards! That’s just how I do it & it works good 4 me, hope it helps!
I had that problem listening to my light skin homie and I'm dark skin 🤣🤣🤣 He was telling me to use a 2 blade & it took 3months to get rid of the bumps. My hair is to thick lmao 😂 so I used a 3blade. Boi let me say no bumps & I'm smoother then my 1 year old.
Thanks for all the videos Nate! Curious, Do you still use Bump Stopper 2? Also do you put any cream or anything on our head during the day before work and at night before bead? Trying to get rid of some razor bumps myself! Thanks!
In this video you said to go with grain, but with regular disposable cartridge razors, after going with I go against the grain to get closest shave possible.... do these safety razors cut low enough JUST by going with grain, not against?
No, going against the grain will always give you the closest shave. The reason I don't recommend it though is because most ppl will get razor bumps doing that. To painful!
New to your channel. I have been accustomed to shaving against the grain on my face to achieve a "baby smooth" result but occasionally have ingrown hair issues. I suppose I will take your advice and shave with the grain using high quality blades instead of cheap ones. I started shaving my head recently against the grain and do have some irritation and also some bumps on the back of my head and neck. Tried using an electric razor... initially a rotary type but have better results with a foil type that I just purchased. Do you recommend a blade over electric? If so, why? I have other hair related questions but... another time.
Hey I’m 19 years old man and I shave my head like I’m not balding I just do it because it’s not so itchy cause hair is just itchy and to much to work with but like how do you not get razor burns while shaving because I shaved and my back of my head has a red burn and it hurts like hell
I think I have a can of Magic Shave laying around. Might have to test it just for a review. I spoke of it awhile back though: th-cam.com/video/sIt9fCmyeo4/w-d-xo.html
Doron Bond seeing his videos makes me want to try again but i dont want to risk a breakout again. Its been a while since i tried again with it because those bumps are really irritating. I just use these remington head clippers...
I use that razor, & the soap, brush, & post shave lotion! I like it it works good 4 me! It’s a lil pricey, not 2 much but a lil, but in my opinion it’s worth it! It’s like around $20. Just 4 the razor, but I think that I bought the whole Van Der Hagen shaving kit, that came with the soap, bush, lil stand, & the razor, I also think it came with a few extra blades! It’s been like over a yr since I bought it but around $50.-$60. For the whole kit is what I think I paid! 4 me it’s been worth it!
I used a cheap razor im a woman & ur great & u truly helped me i have razor bumps i did everything u said not 2 do i did it so right now im lettin my head heal by fri. Think i should b good my husband is goin with me now i know whut 2 do thank u sooooo....much keep up. The gud wrk😊✌👍✨🌟
Do you know anything about darkening skin where your hair used to be? I shave my head and it's smooth however it's still dark in the areas where the hair was.
1st off, Thanks for all the info. I've watched ALL your videos, and learned a lot. I finally shaved my head about a month ago. The only issues that I am running into is: 1. I get razor bumps behind the ear area... Wearing sunglasses adds to the irritation. 2. When I use the razor on the lower part of my neck (tapered area) I get bumps as well. I've been somewhat avoiding this but using clippers in those areas, but it doesn't get as close.... Any thoughts?
Ayyeee good looks! Preciate the support. 1. Is possible your hair grows differently by the ears; so what for the growth pattern. 2. That lower neck is a danger zone! ahah skin isnt as thick there so you gotta be careful. Ive slice my neck up a few times. & yeah I dont believe anything will get as close as an actual razor. Ive tried a few methods. Razor is the best thus far.
Chances are it bleeds because you're cutting open preexisting bumps before letting them heal, or the razor/ technique just isn't a good fit for you. Have you tried multiple razors/blades?
@@NateMatthews I have tried 2 so far along with some shavers that dont really work. Right now i been using a gilette razor. thats the only thing that has been cutting my hair

I been peeping your videos man and I was saying to myself damn this guy looks like someone, and it finally clicked you look like Adrien Broner bro haha. Just a bald version keep your shit up bro your channel is dope
Right now I use an Andis foil razor to shave my head. Have to go over it a few times, but seems like it works pretty good. Does a safety razor really get a much closer shave? It doesn't seem like it's even possible to get any closer than what the Andis does. Just curious, if it does get closer than I'm going to switch it up!
What do you recommend for razor bumps down there? I’ve currently got tendskin. I use that and a bit of hydrocortisone if needed. Also dove ubscebted deodorant stick works good too. Any recommendations?
Unfortunately I dont have any recommendation for that area. I recently bought Tend Skin for irritation on my head & it worked great. Thats my number one solution Ive found so far.
