If you install a Unibios, you don't need a coin in button or service button. The Unibios makes the select button on 1 slot boards the coin in button. You can also access the test and service menus from the Unibios.

Wiring the coin up button directly to the controller is genius! those RGB pots look sweet too! Awesome job man!

Great consolization, Luke! Very clever to put the coin in on select button.
Now you need only a cool shell to cover the thing, a service menu' button and a cool LED :)

Awesome job man. I really like the red, green, blue color pots you put on this unit, that's a great feature, I usually don't see them on cmvs units. Picture looks great!

As lordvectrex said, but usually even if the TV is very input-poor there's always a SCART port which contains both RGB *and* Composite (with luma and chroma keying in the same way S-Video does). So if you have an S-Video output and no S-Video input on your TV usually you just buy an S-Video and RCA Composite to SCART adaptor and you don't lose the advantage of S-Video.

Z80 is the Zilog Z80 processor which is mostly used for controlling the sound chips. In the MD for example, games like Sonic 2 had a driver for Z80 that would play the music and SFX to the dedicated chips (PSG and FM)

The more i see CMVS's the more i want one haha I love how clean this one looked and the RGB pots are an awesome addition! Great video and hopefully you get some sleep soon :)

Almost every European CRT TV has s-video input but you're probably right about it not being used that often here.

Great job luke! On my MVS I put some 75Ohm resistors to balance the colors, plus in europe we don't need any video encoders :D

What do you use to power this? I noticed that you aren't running anything off the Jamma connector.

Hi Luke what did you say waya encoder. Where do you get them from. Need 1 for my arcade machine. The moniter has started to go the picture starts to jump up and down then after about 5-10 minutes it will totally brake up. Planing to replace it with an old CRT TV.

I almost (ALMOST) bought a board to try something like that. But then I remembered my soldering skill SUCK. So that was the end of the fantasy...lol
Pretty damn cool Luke...wish I had the skill to do it.

Luke, Could you tell me the name of that encoder you used? Sounds like a viable option if its less costly than others like the NEO-\BITZ or JROK

Hey Luke you mentioned that you picked up that encoder originally to build a SuperGun. I had (months back) gotten all ambitious about building one, and have a case and did some legwork on sourcing parts, but the project got shelved. If you ever do build one, I'd love to see video of the process.

i also would always prefer playing on a candy cab than on a consolized mvs on a tv and an extra power supply laying around and stuff like that but you did a great job for sure =) looks like it is still jamma compatible, am i right? o.o

A nice thing to see here would have been the encoder and a source to buy them. Just a thought...
