    This may be what I needed to see to finally switch from FCP to Resolve. I love editing in FCP but I HATE the way they handle templates and drop zones.

    Thanks for this, sorry but it's a relief to seen someone else ripping their hair out doing this. I have been trying to build templates from the ground up - starting with a music track then breaking up the beats and adding transitions and effects, then importing the footage last. Time consuming and a steep learning curve but once the first few were complete it gets easier to adapt the templates to new effects, music and video. Just an extra note, I got the Speed Editor with my Davinci license but have moved on to the Loupedeck CT, check it out!

    The boom mic above your head is causing the autofocus to change in your talking head clips because its moving slightly. I really enjoy everything I learn about Davinci Resolve from your channel. Thanks Jay!

      Yeah that was a definite oversight on my part. I filmed this on my DJI pocket 2. Should have put face tracking on lol. Thanks for watching!

    This is a week late for me to learn how to do this! I had the baptism by fire with templates. Thank you for this walk-through, always good to learn more!
    I bought a couple from VideoHive and had the same problem with the text. What the creator told me was to 1) make sure you have the font they use installed, 2) select a different font and then click back to the font that is programmed in (or select a font of your choice) - a restart of DR after changing font may be needed. Hope that might work for yours!

    I downloaded the free newspaper from motion array and I just could not figure it out , the tutorials were useless , i had 2 guys from the chat team try and figure it out and even they could not which says it all really so motion array is not for me and according to them they said dont use Davinci .

    Q.: I love the templates but the issue for me is how to modify them to fit the beat of your own sound track added? Basically modifying the duration of each effects and everything making up the template so it suits your needs? Hope my question makes sens

    Hey..i have a doubt..i am not getting the exact edit screen of envato template as you showed. I mean after restore project template option, things must open up for editing. But i am getting just a straight timeline. No video 1 or video 2 tabs. Please help

    Is there any chance that you can do a tutorial on converting B&W video into colour video using resolve studio?

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great idea! I'll put it on the list!

    I need your help in solving a problem, I have bought some 3rd party transitions frommotion Array and each of the help files says to go to, Macintosh HD/Users/username/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Templates/Edit then transitions. But when I get to the templates file there is nothing in it, it is empty, with no edit or transition folders. I am using an M1 Macbook Pro. What am I doing wrong?

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably nothing. A lot of templates were made on older versions of Davinci Resolve, and the file structure has changed over the last couple of versions. I run into that all the time.
      Unfortunately, I'm on Windows so I have no idea where to put the files on a Mac. Sorry!

    I like yours better. This one, to me looks a bit of a dog's breakfast. I am guessing that people who are not as skilled as you, might appreciate the final results more. Interesting use of nested timelines. The only time I ever used nested timelines was a music video that had more than 20 camera angles. So I did a multicam of the singer first and then put the timeline in as one angle - then did the same for the drummer etc. Just had to make sure the cuts lined up.
    But for a template - this is a good idea. Might be an idea to feature a nested timeline in some B-roll as well.
    Good to see you at a different angle as well. Good job

    On your “how to clone yourself with magic mask” video I left a comment asking a question can you go look at it?
    (Sorry this comment is not about this video)
