You had to be alive during the stench that was Broncos football from their inception to the teams first winning season in their fourteenth season of 1973 (7-5-2) to fully understand the depth and scope of that '77 season; what it really was all about, to the fans of this team, not just the organization. So, when I see what is going on currently with the team here in 2024, and I can absolutely remember the team's history, it is amazing at how circular the dial of a teams life span truly is. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the team has to find another Charley Johnson or Craig Morton in order to start the climb up the mountain once again to being respectable and having winning seasons. In my opinion, the hardest part will be to find a GM that was as good a judge of talent as John Ralston was, and a head coach as capable of winning as Mike Shanahan once was as well.
You are correct, that 1977 season is my favorite even more so than when they finally won the Super Bowl, it was just magic and you had to live through it as you said to understand and appreciate how special that "miracle" season was!!
I was 7-8 years old when I walked into the living room of our house in Denver and saw Rick Upchurch return a punt for a TD against the Chiefs somewhere in those 1977-78 seasons. They were in their road uniforms with the white jersey and orange pants. That was the first play I ever watched, I was hooked. My mom took me on a trip out of the country during the period when Denver played Dallas in Super Bowl 12. When we landed back in the US, I asked a man in the concourse who won the Super Bowl and with what I think was complete sincerity, he told me he was pretty sure it was the "Denver Cowboys". I didn't know if I should be happy or sad
The Broncos finally won their first 2 championships as did Elway in the late 90s. Hate the hideous, Trump, USFL underwear uniforms. Same goes for Dolphins, Seahawks, Patriots, etc.etc.etc.

I'm not from Denver but was drawn to the Broncos with their overachieving and gritty character.
