Already a helpful video, but It would be great to see more photos and details of the work.I'm looking to buy the same grips and to fit the Umarex M1A1 and it would be a big help, especially for the grip and stock.
You can check "www.airgunnation.com/" I have many pictures there. If you need any advise or have a question you can ask me there and I can advise about changing the M1A1 Umarex plastic-ware to the wood furniture.
Well with a Co2 BB gun there is not a lot to clean. In a firearm most of what has to be cleaned is the residue from the gun, powder from the firing of the bullets. Also the M1A1 Umarex is NOT in real firearm or in combat e.g. mud, dust and water etc. The best you should do (without taking apart the BB gun, Not recommended) is to keep it oiled with 100% silicone oil 200 or 350 cST. Remember these are not guns (Co2) that are made to be field striped. If your gun is working the best thing to do to keep it lubricated with 100% silicone oil. I use MicroLubrol cST 350. That is like a 30 weight oil and for the BBs a much lighter weight Silicone oil, like WD 40 Specialist Silicone oil available at any hardware store or Walmart about 20 cST. Note: The cST is a viscosity rating (thickness) and for oils like silicone oils that are not petroleum based, more scientific.
I promised to reveal all so here are the costs of the wood grips below. When I got the wood grips 8 days later (pretty fast actually) I noticed that the sling attachments were not included; which kind of surprised me. I didn't want to use the UMAREX Sling hardware (dot not fit anyway). So I had to order the sling hardware separately. So if anyone decides to go the wood upgrade route order the sling hardware when you order the wood furniture. All the parts came very quickly (my opinion) and after ordering arrived swiftly. The wood furniture came in a cardboard box with KING ARMS Logo large sticker on the box end and the wood furniture was wrapped with bubble wrap individual bags and with a darker stain than the UMAREX paint/color. The king Arms Finnish on the wood I can only describe as a strong Plastic coating (not polyurethane or varnish) finish. I intended from the start to refinish the furniture when I was done with the fitting.
