@@PlaidMoose although I agree with you, it wasn't the trio lacking chemistry that was the problem. Freddy, Tyler and Ed have actually been great friends for a long time so they've got good chemistry. However, the show tries too much to imitate the chemistry between the old Top Gear hosts, which comes forth as bad chemistry between our car trek trio. Season 2 showed that they're improving incrementally and thus this could become a really good show in the end. Whereas S1 was a bit awkward, I enjoyed S2 substantially more and I can see the potential car trek can achieve.
Loved this, Ethan is the hero of all of us car enthusiasts that don't have the knlowledge, time and/or money to have a project car, keep up the good work lad
That was awesome. Teaching your mate how to work on his car is the best thing you can do for him. It starts with small things like this and the next thing you know is he will be overhauling the engine.
Mike Brewer is a gem, watched him on tv for YEARS and thought he might've been a bit of a bellend but NO. His appearances on Car Throttle and his enthusiasm for Ethan is just awesome. 'OLD AAAT YER AAAAND.
Pro tip if you work on cars a lot, get one of these or similar: www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/18v-38-in-ratchet Low enough power that you'll likely never snap a bolt by accident, still saves heaps of time compared with hand tools and fits in tight spaces better than the giant one in this vid. I've never seen a situation as a mechanic that actually required a high powered one. I personally used to have a full sized rattle gun (before these low profile ones became common), but was still only 12V and max 120Nm/70lbft which is around factory recommended wheel nut torque. My colleagues laughed at me for buying such a weak one while they had beefy 700+lbft pneumatic drivers that echoed through the whole workshop whenever they spun up (and cost around 6-8x more than mine did). Didn't help them though as I still tended to finish jobs quicker, and at least once a week there'd be snapped bolts or stripped threads followed by loud swearing.. which happened to me precisely zero times, not even on the little undertray torx bolts.
It might be funny for a while but they really do need to try to teach him something. If you try to learn everything by trial and error you end up breaking a lot of things and hurting yourself, possibly seriously, lots of times. They suck at teaching and I'd rather see Ethan enjoy what he's doing. Watching Alex and Gareth let him bollock things up is going to stop being funny very quickly. I also wasn't particularly amused to see them pissing him about while he was compressing the springs. The fact is that that can be dangerous. He needs to know when things are actually dangerous and when they are just teasing him.
Totally agree. Alright for whipping gearbox bolts off or anywhere that's not had the bolt thread exposed to weather, but not good on suspension. What's wrong with the old ways of getting a bit of heat on them first?
@@neilwalsh4058 this, I'd almost forgotten about those tricks Heat guns are quite cheap these days, safe to use around oily bits, and when combined with WD-40 (oil based aerosol lubricant/penetrant) can get even the rustiest of bolts out Also another pro tip for beginners: if you're using hand tools and need more muscle + have space to work, slip a pipe or something over the spanner/ratchet/bar to increase the length/leverage and hold the outer end. A 70 ftlb wheel nut takes 70lb force on a 1ft long bar/spanner Extend with a pipe to 2ft, only needs 35lb force, 3ft - 23lb Just make sure it isn't gonna slip off the bolt/nut as higher force means easier to damage/round off the bolt head.. And doing this on really old or small (1/4 in) ratchets can break their ratchet mechanism so ask first if it isn't your tool kit 😛
I think I’ve never laughed so much in one video like in this one 😂😂 Ethan even was close to putting in the lug nuts before putting the wheel back on 😂😂😂

"Mr Honda Jazz" - me, driving my wife's old jazz "...and I took that personally...!"
I'm so excited for Ethan working on cars now.
You've got my full respect my man.
And don't worry, we all feel the same when doing one to many ugga dugga's!
Great video, thanks guys. Ethan's frustrations rang true with me just working on a bicycle let alone a car, fair play for sticking with it Ethan! Was laughing out loud at the unhelpful helping throughout :D
What a legend for “Getting involved” 🙌
Ethan is just a hero ct would not be the same without him . Comedy gold
I think we're genuinely looking at the Top Gear trio in about 10-15 years.
I think it's gonna be these 3 for UK top gear and Hoovie, Freddie and Ed for US. Honestly I'd watch US top gear if Hoovie, Ed and Freddy were hosting it
@@sykurpudi1 that budget brand Top Gear knockoff Hoovie, Tavarish and Fred did was absolutely terrible though. Those guys have zero chemistry together
Uk version maybe, for the US I'm thinking, chrisfix, the detail geek, and someone else, though I don't know who
@@PlaidMoose although I agree with you, it wasn't the trio lacking chemistry that was the problem.
The moment and spark of joy Ethan had when he cut the spring so he man up and over us z part of his glory.
Loved this, Ethan is the hero of all of us car enthusiasts that don't have the knlowledge, time and/or money to have a project car, keep up the good work lad
"Found that out in my Haynes manual"!?! He's a changed man.
I bet someone behind the camera is pointing a gun at ethan to make him do this
When another roast my ride?
🎀💋🤗
❣️❣️
Alex posted on ig that when they did this Ethan looked 'happy'
How could they tell?....
He has a weird definition of "happy"
That was awesome. Teaching your mate how to work on his car is the best thing you can do for him. It starts with small things like this and the next thing you know is he will be overhauling the engine.
Mike Brewer is a gem, watched him on tv for YEARS and thought he might've been a bit of a bellend but NO. His appearances on Car Throttle and his enthusiasm for Ethan is just awesome. 'OLD AAAT YER AAAAND.
Snapping bolts is what happens when you gun everything. If you're going to teach him, teach him the correct way.
More fun with a gun though 😬
Pro tip if you work on cars a lot, get one of these or similar:
www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/products/details/18v-38-in-ratchet
Low enough power that you'll likely never snap a bolt by accident, still saves heaps of time compared with hand tools and fits in tight spaces better than the giant one in this vid.
@@neilwalsh4058 this, I'd almost forgotten about those tricks
Heat guns are quite cheap these days, safe to use around oily bits, and when combined with WD-40 (oil based aerosol lubricant/penetrant) can get even the rustiest of bolts out
Also another pro tip for beginners: if you're using hand tools and need more muscle + have space to work, slip a pipe or something over the spanner/ratchet/bar to increase the length/leverage and hold the outer end.
A 70 ftlb wheel nut takes 70lb force on a 1ft long bar/spanner
Extend with a pipe to 2ft, only needs 35lb force, 3ft - 23lb
Just make sure it isn't gonna slip off the bolt/nut as higher force means easier to damage/round off the bolt head.. And doing this on really old or small (1/4 in) ratchets can break their ratchet mechanism so ask first if it isn't your tool kit 😛
I think I’ve never laughed so much in one video like in this one 😂😂
Ethan even was close to putting in the lug nuts before putting the wheel back on 😂😂😂
My favourite part: every part where Gareth is gently winding up Ethan.
Looking forward to my half a spring prize.
This is a build that EVERYONE is going to be watching so if there's any companies out there that has parts for this car, they should really consider sponsoring them for this build
Ethan pulling the disc off catching his fingers an the noise he made while Gareth was pissin himself, quality video 👌👍
4:57 “it’s taking the weight of the car, I think your 50 kilograms is alright” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Ethan looks like he held back tears about a dozen times in this video
