Thanks for this video, my dad used to take me here when I was about 10, we never did go too far up but did do some little scrambling before heading back.
Your videos are just fantastic Harlan, I can't thank you enough. You do such a good job of both showing the route, giving people an idea of what they're getting into, and providing an entertaining video. I've used your videos as a basis for planning countless hikes, while also ruling out countless others that I'm not ready for yet. Keep them coming man!
Arshad Smith ....Thanks so much for your kind words Arshad. I love making them. Several more over the next couple weeks I hope including Carnavon Lake/Mt.Strachan and Mt. Chester. Doing Mt. Temple again the first week of September.
Cheers. Quick question for you: Which is easier, the horseshoe or just to the first summit and back down again? Not easier with respect to distance, easier as in least likely to get injured or worse?
I would say the horseshoe is the better option. Not only do you have new views the entire way but you don't have to downclimb the CRUX section . Just my opinion though.
The Heart mountain horseshoe is a very nice trip. It has a nice flow. Always liked this trip. Even if you're in good shape it is still a bit of a grunt though. Nice vid. Thanks for posting
Your opinion Harlan. Is this hike sketchy? I've done Temple, Rundle and Cascade using your videos as a template. Was planning to do it in a week or two but we cancelled it after the recent fatal hiking accident. We decided that we will do it this summer instead. Again, thanks for your videos (it probably prevent injuries and saved lives) More power!
Well I personally dont think it is, however any mountain has the potential to be deadly given the right circumstances. My only guess with what happened is he got off route near Grant Macewen peak. I know there is a trail that forks up top and you need to stay left. The other trail heads towards the rock climbing area over Heart creek and cliffs out I believe. My heart goes out to this boys family....Like any mountain you need to be fully prepared and know when to turn back. Even that being said sometimes accidents still occur.
@@HarlanFox--Scrambles Thanks Harlan. That's why you need to keep posting videos of your hike because your videos are very informative and easy to follow and we really do appreciate your effort. Stay safe.
@@MrPuroylan I will keep making them Froilan. As long as people only use them as a reference. They still need to do their due diligence as conditions and situations can change. Thanks again for watching!
I LOVE how many videos you have. such a solid record of mountains. You have come up first on my searches for trail research for a year or two now. also we should team film a temple run this year. lets stay in touch on that this season if you are interested.
We thanks for that. I have done Temple twice however I may possibly do it in September with some guys from work. Keep in touch and ill let you know,as it gets closer.

Ya it's a great mountain. So close to Calgary as well. It has some neat aspects to it.

Brenda Wright ...Yes it is a great horeshoe. I'll have to get back and do it again one day. Thanks Brenda!
Hey Harlan. I just did this loop solo on November 13. A bit of ice on Grant MacEwan Peak, but not too bad. Late start and got down just before dark.
Great footage! Doing this one tomorrow. I use your videos as a template. Thanks very much for sharing. Cheers.
ramageization ......Well enjoy your hike. Hopefully Theres not too much snow.

Looks like fun! I've never used the poles for hiking but i bet its easier descending using them, no?

right on. we plan a few dates and some work out others don't. This year I hope to hit it twice. but more early July. Cheers.
+adrian huysman Just let me know when you're headed out and if I can join you i'll come along.
Makes the descent a lot easier. Saves your knees and thighs a little.
Is this trail pet friendly?
Well most of it is. There are a spot or 2 you may have to lift your dog up. See 2:31 of the video.
what camera do you use
O'Riley ....I used to use a Sony Nex3 but now it's just a Go pro.
