My thought was that Curtis was dying, and because he was worried what would happen to Daisy after he’d gone, he tried to, essentially, “clone” himself, and ended up with Alan, which inherited all the bad, and none of the good.

This series really goes to show how you don’t need a huge budget to make a good, quality horror series. The monsters are clearly puppets, but that doesn’t once distract from the story or the fear you feel when Alan is attacking Daisy or you’re waiting to see what’s under Lithop’s mask. The puppets are very creepy while still being obviously fake and that’s something to commend the creator of this for

Can we just applaud whoever is acting as Daisy? Her acting is so good. Whenever she cries or gets upset or screams, it feels genuine. I honestly felt for her every time.
I love how people today can make their own mysteries that other people can cooperate to solve. Back then, you had to be a famous author to get your story around, now with the internet, anyone can cook up a good mystery or story

DatUhu I think he achieves an uncanny valley effect but for puppets. He’s just close enough to a professional puppet to be convincing but just far enough away to look amateur.

The idea of the story representing a flowerpot is enforced by Daisy and Lithop finally leaving the home and sitting in the grass, as a seed would, to start a new life and grow into the future.

I would say it represents depression/PTSD from the abuse she had as a kid and she suppressed the memories(the basement). After being forced to deal with what happened(being thrown in the basement) she found the way to overcome the the truama she endured(Alan). Alan is a the embodiment of depression. She only knew what her abusive father told her. Thats why she takes care of him at first. She is feeding her self hatred. It is growing and causing physical harm. Lithop is more of a "therapy" and gives her answeres to overcome her depression(Alan). Because depression usually has "roots".

HRHRH I think the garden thing is an euphemism but YEAH it's definitely about abuse. Alan has thoughts and acts like her father, it's what his father left behind. Lithop is something ( friend? knowing what's an healthy relationship? Restarting again??) that makes her fight back. She ends up killing Alan, but still seems to mourn him, which is a common thing between abused people to still feel somewhat regret after doing the right thing.

Like, the OP said, after her initial abuser, her dad, left her, she just found a new person to abuse her, that being Alan. Which seems like an analogy to the common (iirc) occurrence of people from abusive homes getting into a relationship with an abusive person.
Meanwhile, Lithop is someone who truly loves her and doesn't plan to abuse her. Also, Lithop being a girl might have been foreshadowed by a question Daisy asked her dad, that being, "Can girls marry each other?"
Which might point out that this might just be a more fantastical version of a girl in a very conservative, abusive household and yada yada, you get the point. I dunno, I might be straying too far now. Sorry.

I feel like this could be used as a metaphor for many peoples experiences including overcoming abusive childhoods/relationships, mental illness including depression, anxiety and other adversities. A really good series.

It's a shame this video didn't touch on that more, I feel like the flower thing was secondary. I think Alan was supposed to be a first boyfriend, who at first seems like a nice guy but slowly becomes more and more abusive. He's obviously a disgusting monster to everyone but her. Then she discovers a woman whos equally abused, who she can love and runs away with her. Really quite brilliant, I'm sad I wasn't there for it in real time.

It took me a moment to realize why alan first started feeding off sugar. Rather it was a direct (in my opinion) symbolism of the fact he feeds off the sweet things in life. Same reason he kills strawberry (notably named after a sweet fruit) She was the sweetest thing in her life at that moment. I feel like a potato for only coming that conclusion now

I feel bad for lithop because she just trying to help Daisy and then she was subjected to the experiments and is now clueless what happened to her.
Alan scared the living hell out of me
Lithop is.. probably the scariest part about this. Her limbs were cut off, and then she was experimented on and thrown into the basement to keep her quiet and away from Daisy
lithop is the only monster dad specifically leaves a note for daisy not to trust out of the basement monsters, daisy knocks it over and doesnt see it. Clear visual symbolism, Lithop is dangerous, Daisy misses the sign(s). I think you're missing a huge part of the story if you dont realize lithop is the part 2 antagonist. Whatever interpretation you want to go with she is just a different evil to alan I dont think Daisy was chopped up for the experiments, i think that was the threatening person. The subtitles are still in flashback and people are confused because it doesnt match visually what is on the screen.
Like Lithop is part flower and immediately she is like 'yo ,new best friend daisy I am totally not using, lets go and find some sun and water. They were on train tracks and... Daisy took her to the lake, meaning they went opposite civilization and what Daisy needs. idk if giving the monster a stable environment to survive and grow is a good idea. Alan was more helpless but he behaved until he didnt need daisy anymore. Lithop is probably the same way. Out of all the monsters Lithop is the only one Dad felt the need to warn Daisy post-mortum about. He is overprotective to the point of being abusive, but that is exactly why he wouldnt just leave that sign for daisy if it wasnt important.
mind you ARG's aren't made with a concrete narrative in mind all the time so the sign might be a dropped plot point I just never dropped and stopped being suspicious of lithop. Totally possible the community really liked lithop which is why we got the ending we did and the lithop is bad thing is dropped.
We need a movie of this.

I don’t know how, but Alan is somehow one of the most intimidating creatures I’ve seen in quite some time despite his effects being terrible. Kudos to “the author” for presumably finding a way to effortlessly tap into the fight or flight part of the human mind.

I think Alan’s physical growth also contributed to him being a “weed”. Also, although lithop wasn’t able to call child protective services all those years ago, she eventually DID end up helping daisy get out of a bad situation. Sure, not by physically taking her out of the house, but by being her friend, she was giving her the bravery to do so.

Can I propose a theory? To make it brief I think this series is a commentary on how someone can be corrupted by fame or success, but how both lead to the exact same result of physical abuse and tears. Really what makes this series scary isn’t just the factor that Alan looks creepy, but by the fact that Alan and Daisy’s relationship is so much like an abusive relationship that it will stick with you forever. I have so much respect for how well done this series is, and seriously there is so much you can talk about with this series. What a fantastic choice for a 3 part discussion.

The way Alan yelled "Daisy, no!" right before he died just pulled my heartstrings into a knot and I don't even know why. Honestly yeah, he was terrifying and called Daisy names, but there were a few moments like that one and the "Where's dad?" one that really made me feel for both Alan and Daisy, and made me wonder what would've happened if she paused and didn't kill him. I think he must've been created from Curtis' DNA considering his personality and seemed to have those obsessive, possessive, and abusive traits we saw in Curtis. I really liked the ending and I think the story as a whole was really interesting. Kudos to The Author, and thank you IAM for this series ~

i think the best thing about the entire series was how put together it seemed, the puppets were well made, the acting was great (especially from alan) the transcripts being used to tell story you wouldnt see otherwise, the overall cohesiveness of the story, its incredibly interesting and well made and i really want to know who was completely behind it
