- Switzerland, a country located in the very center of Europe, is known as one of the most unconquerable countries in the world. For starters, its natural defenses provide a lot of protection from the country. The Alps, and Switzerland's lakes and rivers are very good for defense. Switzerland also hides explosives in its borders, which are set to explode if the country is attacked.

In addition to the geography, might also want to mention that the Swiss were incredibly useful as bankers for the Nazis, providing credit and storing cash, gold, and valuables stolen by the Nazis during their campaigns. Having a bank nearby that couldn’t be touched by the Allies because of their neutrality was quite nice.

Yeah the Swiss are only neutral in the sense that they don’t actually fight in the wars. But they have almost always sided with the aggressors in war in other ways.

If nuclear war ever breaks out, the best place to be is Switzerland. The country is well prepared, with enough nuclear fallout shelters to accommodate the entire Swiss population. It’s even required by law that everyone has access to one of these heavily armoured shelters in their building or a building close by.
The Swiss military also keeps fully stocked artillery bunkers, but you might not notice them. They’re usually disguised as charming country homes, right in the middle of villages
Yes indeed, I actually have one in my house, plus most people use them as their pantry so you already have food in there if you ever have to spend days in it.
Public school also have them in their basement in case there is an attact in the middle of the day.

Not quite. But pretty much every mountain that has a tunnel has a military base above or underneath it, and half the country was boobytrapped until just a few years ago. They removed the explosives covering every road bridge across the Rhine and most mountainsides between 2014-16, though I suspect they covertly placed some new ones in 2022 just in case.

What I meant was that every mountain *with a railway or automobile tunnel* has some form of military installation, and most hills/bridges are boobytrapped. Not that literally every mountain has a military installation. Furthermore, Switzerland does in fact have mandatory military service for every male inhabitant, voluntary for female inhabitants. Switzerland maintains a larger military than Poland, and almost as large as Germany's. Which is impressive considering it has only a tenth the population of the latter. And they do have some pretty impressive equipment stockpiles. One memory that is sort of burnt into my mind was a train trip through the alps towards Davos 11 years ago, and there were rows of tanks and troop transports just sitting on a military base along the rail lines. Fun times

Iceland isn’t a neutral country, as you seem to imply. It’s a founding member of NATO and was occupied by the brits and Americans under WW2 and the USA still has much influence in Iceland (the USA plans on investing $94 million in 2023-25 in Keflavík airport, aka USA/NATO military base).
Hitler idealised iceland due to almost all of its population being aryan (would say 95%+ at the time). My dad told me when I was younger that Hitler wanted to invade Iceland but decided not to because he was told that it was impossible to build an airport in Iceland (take this with a grain of salt, in the limited time I took to look for sources, I didn’t find any) which the brits and the Americans then proved him wrong by building the Reykjavík airport and Keflavík airport respectively. But there is of course other reasons why Hitler may not have done it, such as it not being strategically important at the time and limited resources being put into the navy due to the emphases on the Luftwaffe and the army.
That being said, the British Invasion of Iceland in 1940, was a precaution to make sure the Germans didn’t invade Iceland. They built up a lot of infrastructure to make sure that the Germans couldn’t invade, take Öskjuhlíð as an example.
Icelands location in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean is highly desirable strategically, being right between Europe and North America, and entrance to the Arctic Ocean.
