Wow thank you so much James!! That’s extremely kind of you! Hope you have a fantastic time in the Lakes, on a good weather day, there’s no place I’d rather be than sat on top of Great Gable, you’re going to love it! Really appreciate that James, thanks 😊
Love watching your vlogs fella. Me and my mrs have just started getting into hiking over the last few months. Been all over Dovestones and various canal walks in GMR,I walked from Mossley to Crowden via Laddow rocks a few weeks back, not bad for a 59 year old ! Next on our agenda is Kinder. Thanks for your videos and your enthusiasm Alex Keep on Hiking ! Best wishes , Russell.
Thank you so much!! Really appreciate the kind words 😊 awesome to hear you’re both getting into hiking. You’re spoilt for choice in the Peaks so have fun exploring it and hope you have an awesome time on Kinder! Cheers 😊👍
Great video Alex, thanks for posting. I've only been up onto Kinder Scout once but did the opposite route to you, going up Grindsbrook Clough, across the top, then down Jacobs Ladder. We had similar weather to you then, claggy with no views! I'd love to go up onto Kinder again and explore more so will be interested to see other routes up there in your future videos. 😊
Thank you so much! I also love doing the route in reverse, can’t beat a scramble up Grindsbrook! Hope you manage to get back up there soon without the clag covering the top! Thank you 😊
Great video. I have walked up Winnats Pass previously and along The Great Ridge but that's the extent of my Peak District experience up to now as I always tend to gravitate towards the Lakes. However, your Peak District videos are really inspiring me to prioritise getting back to the Peak District asap so thank you. I look forward to more of your Kinder videos 😊
Thank you so much!! I have also gravitated to the Lakes the past year, but every time I get out in the Peaks I’m always reminded at how beautiful it is, so many different route options and little kinder on the legs 😊 hope you manage to get out and explore more of the Peaks soon! Thanks 😊 👍
Great video Alex! Just love that route, though I did it in reverse. Hoping to do a hike in the area in a few days time with a mate. We are doing Rushup Edge which is less busy than Mam Tor - which I did a week ago, and it gives fantastic views of the Edale Valley. We plan to get coffee in Edale before climbing up to Hollins Cross then descend to Castleton and then up over the hill via Treak Cliff Cavern to join the old road and back to the NT car park below Mam Tor. I live just a half hours drive from the Peak District and there is no finer place in my estimation! 😀
Thank you Peter!! That sounds like an awesome route!! I’m a big fan of Rushup Edge also, the difference in footfall up there compared to Mam Tor is crazy yet you still get stunning views. One of my favourite cafes is in Edale, called the Penny Pot, amazing cake!! Hope you had a great walk and thanks for the support as always 😊👍
I am so pleased to hear that you are doing more Kinder Scout stuff Alex, thank you so much. I absolutely love the place, I will watch every second of what you record! Keep them coming and thank you.
Lovely video Alex, weather certainly more spring like , happy memories of Kinder and Jacobs ladder, looking forward to more wonderful Peak District content
Great stuff as usual Alex, my "home" NP as well being a South West Sheffield boy, though living a bit further away now in North Notts. I love your "Another beautiful day in the Peak District National Park" intros and that goes through my head every time I'm out there.
Thank you so much! We’re lucky to call the Peaks District our home National Park aren’t we. No matter what the weather, it’s always a beautiful day in the Peak District 😊
Super video, Alex. Really like the idea of your mini series. I've still got so much to explore in the Peak District and especially the Kinder Scout plateau, so would really appreciate seeing some of your recommended routes, especially the lesser known stuff. A real inspiration to explore further and get to know a new area.
Thank you so much! I’ll definitely be filming lots of different routes up this year, I’ve also got so much to explore on Kinder despite spending a lot of my days off up there, that’s what makes it such a special place. Cheers 😊
Another good video Alex - we are looking at getting back to the peak district this month (April). I think my channel needs some videos outside of Lincolnshire. I'm thinking throw the drone down Winnats Pass before getting some nice cinematics of Mam Tor and Derwent!
Fab video Alex , my other half Nicola would love tips on keeping her boots clean if you have a link to the best advice before she is down the shop for new ones AGAIN lol 😂 , thank you 😀
Thank you Darren!! Unfortunately if you go anywhere in the Peaks at the moment the boots are going to be caked in mud, I can’t believe how bad the rain and mud has been this year 😂 however, Nikwax do a cleaning gel that’s really good for getting a lot of the dirt out, give them a good scrub at outside tap with a soft brush and the gel, they’ll look brand new! 😊👍
Super good video Alex! You are so right that Kinder can get clagged out at the drop of a hat, it’s very unpredictable! The sun did turn out for you though, and wasn’t it beautiful! I was so excited to hear of your plans to explore many of the routes onto Kinder, I remember we chatted about that before and there are so many potential routes. I am actually up in Hayfield for a week from 4th April and I have been eyeing up The Cloughs just to the East of Jacobs Ladder. The largest Clough pops up near Pym Chair and looks like an achievable route. We shall see. If not ,then Blackden Brook has been on the list as a route to ascend to the plateau for far too long. I did Nether Red Brook last year and it’s a fine scramble, highly recommended. I went up William Clough and walked along the base of the northern Edge until I got to it. I noticed that the Clough just West of Nether Red also looked like a very decent scrambling route. I cannot wait!
Thank you so much Greg!! I got extremely lucky with the second half, thought the clag was there to stay once it rolled in. Yes I’m finally going to explore Kinder properly this year, Blackden Brook and Red Brook are high on the list, I just need this rain to calm down a little, never seen it so wet up here at the moment! Sounds like you’ve got some awesome plans for your trip! My fingers are crossed that sun is shining on your Kinder walks! Look forward to seeing some pics of your adventures 😊
Love your videos mate- how lucky are you to have this area in your back garden !! I’ve stayed in Edale a couple of times in my camper but I’m hoping to do my first ever wild camp around or on kinder in a few weeks time ! 😬
Thank you so much! Feel extremely lucky to call this place home currently. Wild camping on Kinder will be awesome, some of my all time favourite camps have been up there, so many options for pitching, enjoy! 😊👍
Nice video again Alex. Like you i too have an affinity with Kinder Scout. I found out what those Spike things are for now and i found another 2 plus a Plastic one with a hallow centre a couple of weeks ago and also i bumped into 2 old men that said they are volunteering for National Trust and sawing down those Miniature Pine trees ....That seems such a shame to me and wrong on many levels but they said that they take water from the moss which again doesnt seem right . I hope they are correct and it's not yet another example of Man thinking he knows better than nature. Dont for get your Kinder Eggs this weekend ;)
Thank you so much! Glad to hear you found out what the spikes are for! Hopefully the work they’re doing will be for the benefit of Kinder and it’s wildlife 🤞Cheers! 😊👍
Your video popped up.. not got chance to watch it . But wanted to leave a comment. Did the same walk last week.. but didn’t walk down the Grindsbrook Clough as we had some rain and was river 😅. it’s a ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL WALK!! 🤙.
@@alexcripps.outdoors thanks for reply 👊🏼 . We had heavy rain the night before, I kept any eye on the weather forecast and decided to risk it and travel up from Birmingham. The weather changed and sun ☀️ came out , but due to the rain night before the ground was saturated hence the paths were like mini rivers. But the views were amazing, could see Manchester skyline from kinder low. 😎
Went up today and did the Kinder Scout & Kinder Downfall route from AllTrails. Around 14k total. Sideways rain and 40mph+ winds from the moment we got to the top. It's nice to see what it's actually supposed to look like up there!
Oh wow, the weather has been wild this past few days in the Peaks. I also got caught out in sideways rain a couple days ago, not ideal but certainly makes you feel alive! Hopefully next time you get some of those special Kinder views 😊👍
Great video. Hopefully doing this route first week of July. Staying in the area for 3 days and going to try and tackle win hill (which I’ve done before) kinder scout, mam tor and bamford edge Great video as I like a good research into routes before I tackle them
We chose this route for our first time up Kinder Scout today! Was lots of fun scrambling down instead of up! (We were the only people doing it that direction too!). We parked at Barber Booth and must say that the walk back to the car park is not for the feint hearted especially after an already long hike!
Will be doing this walk next week. Im also off to Great Gable and Helvellyn in 10 days because of your videos! Glad ive found your channel subscribed.
Wow thank you so much James!! That’s extremely kind of you! Hope you have a fantastic time in the Lakes, on a good weather day, there’s no place I’d rather be than sat on top of Great Gable, you’re going to love it! Really appreciate that James, thanks 😊

Watching your enthusiasm for hiking is definitely making me want to get in to the Peak District asap! Thanks Alex
Thank you so much! Hope you manage to get out on some walks soon 😊👍
Very much enjoying your walks keep up the great work
Thank you very much! 😊
Alex, this looks brilliant! What a trail and it’s not crowded at all! Perfect 👏👏
Thank you so much! 😊

I'm so glad I came across this video as I'm new to hiking, and I'm yet to visit the Peak District. Very informative, thank you
I walk this route quite often, your so right Alex kinder scout gets in to your soul. Looking forward to your different routes up there, stay safe.
Couldn’t agree more, something very special about the place. Cheers Christopher 😊👍
Thanks!
Thank you so much that’s extremely kind! 😊

Thank you so much Phil! Lots of Kinder Scout content this year, can’t beat the place! Cheers 😊👍
Great video, Alex. Love this part of the Peak District and like you say, it commands repsect, especially when visibility is low. Keep up the good work
Thank you very much! It really does, nearly caught me out a few times. Cheers 👍
Lovely video Alex, weather certainly more spring like , happy memories of Kinder and Jacobs ladder, looking forward to more wonderful Peak District content
Thank you very much! A lot of people seem have happy memories of Kinder and it’s no surprise! Cheers 👍

Great route thanks for sharing , makes me want to get out there !
Thank you! Get yourself there 😊
Beautiful vlog thanks for sharing, I'm in Castleton for 2 weeks in April, I will be doing this walk, thanks!

My old stomping ground when i was aged 13 to 16
A great place to grow up! 👌
Crowden is a great way up
It’s high on the list 😊
This is pretty much the route im taking, starting at Edale though and taking Penine way across to Jacobs Ladder.
Hye buddy, Love the videos so much! Where can you park in Edale overnight?
Nice.
