This is stupid. Your house is burglarised and you then leave your wife alone at home to go gambling without adding any additional security. Such as an alarm. What? This is based on a “true story”? Well…I guess you really can’t fix stupid.
Because most burglars don't come back. So no reason to stop living life. There was no way of knowing he was more than a burglar. Most burglars tend to hit a house and get out of there. So, no, she wasn't dumb. What was her husband supposed to do, stop working? Common sense, you do a police report and lock the doors and go from there. Now, if he went away after her attack, yes dumb. But after she was attacked they took bigger precautions. Back then it was rare for all that.

Well it's a true story I just watched another one by LMN from '96 "Gone in a Heartbeat "also a true story and a woman was kidnapped by a couple of local teens and it's a miracle she survived the cops bungled things repeatedly and keep just telling the husband to relax as if he should be apathetic about his wife abducted she had a recent heart attack too and was left to freeze to death in a car unfortunately the reaction to crime often seems criminal too.
I did read the disclaimer before the movie began about this being a fictional (non-realistic) version of a true story. But, I wish that they made it a bit more real being the story is based on a actual true story.
I know right?!! I was amazed when I read that the story was true.....yet was quite different from the film. The original story was intense enough & doesn't the victim(s) deserve to have a more accurate telling? Or did they not wish this to be the case? Either way, I am glad that Joanna Kerns portrayed her. She was a solid actress. Does she still act?

Just an FYI: If you don’t find it for free, it is available to rent or buy on Prime Video. Excellent movie.
