Absolutely agree with that review Jim; the rioja cask finish is a quality whisky with an incredibly satisfying taste profile. I'm currently part through a bottle of the Ledaig 10 and like anyone that's had the pleasure of this top dram as well, it delivers with aplomb. I certainly wouldn't hesitate to add another Sinclair series to the stable, but I note that your bottle lacks the deep rose colour that my original one did......no matter. Slainte mon ami 😃👍.
Hell yeah Jim straight from the bottle! It's good to know you like this dram as much as everybody else. Really hard to go wrong with it. Good comparison with the Benriach and I think there are miles between the Smoky 10 and the 12, 12 clearly the greater dram. Cheers!
Proper whisky.
can't comment too much now as I'll be reviewing this one shortly as well, but: you're not wrong 😁 Cheers buddy! And ftr: Benriach Smoky 12 was your 180th review .
Great review, Jim. I agree, Tobermory seems to do no wrong with their offerings. I find Ledaig a bit unique, but wonderful. I have not tried the smoky 12, but it is on my list if I ever find it for a good price. I find it interesting that we have all changed our minds about the importance of age statements based on all the excellent offerings that have been coming out. I think the newer distilleries have also taught us that while age can make for great whisky, a good blender can make something very high quality without age. I'm still less inclined to buy a NAS unless I've tried it. Cheers, my friend.
Cheers Bud. And I couldn't agree more. Young distilleries just can't afford to wait for their product to age for the length of time we'd like them to so...thankfully...we're willing to take a punt on them regardless. And, also, let's face it...there will always be young whiskies on the market with a fancy names and fancy finishes 🤷♂️
Thanks my friend.
"Yum yum yum yum yum yum"... best conclusion or summary of a review you'll ever experience 😁😎
I totally agree, I had this bottle in 2022 (maybe a bottle kill early 2023) and it was just really good stuff. When factoring in the price level... even awesome.
Thanks for the review, cheers buddy! 🥃
Nice to see you in that good a mood!
And I fully agree with you on the Ledaig!
Nice Review. Thanks for that.
This Expression from Tobermory/Ledaig is always on my Shelf.
Top Quality for fair Price.
I hope they dont stop making it, if the next Part of the Sinclair Series arrives😅🙌
Great to see your reviews are back 🤠
Great review Jim! In my shelf obviously for the quality and also for being a ‘Rioja finish’ (being from Spain is mandatory to have it) 🥃 Salud!
Still waiting to get my hands on a bottle of this. Ledaig/Tobermory is always scarce in my area.
Was thinking about what to sip tonight so decided on this and a tobermory 12 to keep it company. Great review as always. Master of malt have a distillery exclusive age statement ledaigs with even fancier finishes if you got lucky on the lottery.
Great review Jim!
I actually just got a bottle of this yesterday and was going back and forth with the 10…..I think I prefer the 10 but just by a hair. Really good stuff.
I have the same thing going on. I stick my nose in dram of peated malt and all I smell is candy.
Certainly wish this would show up here, it would be a third the price of any Indie bottle, which I would be compelled to but
I had a bottle of this one a while ago, a really great dram from Ledaig, great value. But it's sold out here in Sweden, sorry to say. Looking forward to the next one in this series, if there ever will be one?? Maybe a port matured, I think that would work great.
