Love Jim's reviews of American whisky. Very open-minded. Was watching this review, set for subtitles while listening to a classical piece, and when Jim was giving the mashbill the subtitles translated as "molded barley". You gotta love how those wonderful Scottish accents constantly trip up the subtitle feature. Always enjoy your reviews, Jim, including your sense of humor and how entertaining you are. Keep up the good work!

Enjoyed the review Jim, and agree that this is a really good bourbon. I'd like to try the EC Barrel Proof, but at the price it is I could have three bottles of the WT Rare Breed .............! 😉 Thanks for sharing 🥃🥃

I have to agree that bourbon has a lot of similar notes, but I still love to drink it. Thanks for the review ☺️

I completely agree with you on the acetone and yes that's in their nature. They are a bit samey but what I find with bourbons is when they get a bit older like 8-15 and higher proof above 50% then they come to their own. This one is a good one, not a great one but yeah the Elijah Craig is a beauty! Cheers 🥃

    Great review Jim!
I have the same feeling about bourbons. I have found that I prefer bourbons from the Jim Beam stable like Knob Creek 12 and especially Bakers 7. They have more of the woody character and depth that I, personally, expect from a bourbon as well as a better mouthfeel than you typically get from a bourbon.

Appreciate the "samey" perspective. I find port finished and wheated bourbons help in this regard.

Excellent bang-for-buck over here in Ontario, Jim. Readily available. Same with the 101 version. With the way the prices of things are going, bourbon seems like a much more affordable alternative, by times. I'm enjoying some different Maker's Mark varieties. Will put some aside.

Cheers Jim great bottle & I have a blend WT RB 50/50 with Sagamore CS rye, you might like the Bourye hit it offers.

Tough to source but a bloody good CS Bourbon. But I'd tilt for the EJ barrell proof if I had to choose.

Hi Jim, enjoyed the review 👍. Not a big bourbon fan but I do rather like the rare breed along with the 101. Slàinte Jim.🥃

I am a big fan of Wild Turkey Rare Breed Jim! In Canada it's decently priced and it's consistently a terrific Bourbon! If I feel like a switch from a good single malt scotch I reach for Wild Turkey sometimes! I am not a huge Bourbon fan by any means but this is a nice one! Excellent ABV! Consistently good! This Bourbon has all the hallmarks of a traditional Bourbon that draw people in and this one is definitely enjoyable. It can be sipped and I am sure it's also delicious in a good cocktail! Bourbon is never a 'wow' whisky for me but it be nice here and there. I'm a single malt lover for the most part and I love a good high ABV 100% Rye! Love the spice! Chocolate chili is bang on for the finish! Like you I don't visit this often as with any Bourbon. Yes! The Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is very nice! My preference is the C923! Wonderful review! Good health wishes to you too! Cheers! 🙂

This is a Bourbon I can actually appreciate even though I normally like bourbons with a higher percentage of Rye in them. Cheers to another great review.

Bourbon makes up less than 1% of my whisk(e)y inventory, but this is one I have, and like. Enough said. Loved the flashback to the ECBP moment - Cheers Jim!

Cheers Drew. Bourbon is just a little too "samey" for me to buy loads of it. With that said...I will always have a good bourbon somewhere in my armoury.

This is about as good a bourbon as we can get easily in the UK. Good price for a cask strength bottle which delivers big flavours. It's a step up from the 101 which is still excellent for me money. Your either like bourbon as category or you don't, but I personally like all whiskies when they're good, cheers Jim. Interestingly the last American whisky that I was really surprised by was the Jack Daniel's barrel proof, great stuff from a distillery I don't often buy from.

Cheers Billy. Totally agree. I don't care where it's from. If it's good...it's good.

Thanks for yet another honest and excellent review, Jim.
Not a bourbon fan myself, so I leave comments on the stuff itself to other.
    Slàinte mhath
