@tntdude3 Glad to hear it! The camera's actually fixed in place right now -- no cameraman to zoom -- but we're working on expanding a little beyond the current shoestring set-up soon. Stay tuned!
@SirBlade666 This is an excellent question - added it to vid queue - short answer is wear and tear IS an issue - think about how most men treat ties - they literally tie them in knots, pull and stretch them, and store them without a thought for long term care.
Hey Antonio, Maybe next time when you are talking about lenghts in your videos you should edit the converted lenghts to meters or centimeters on the video! Your viewers outside the USA would appreciate it! Now I had to convert it myself, but I bet most people are too lazy and just click away the video! Cheers, from Belgium!
Nikhil Vetam Just want to help him making his channel more succesfull and get more (returning) viewers. Non-American viewers will feel more included if he does this and more viewers will be attracted.
Excellent video. You should have shown the ties up close, although the difference between the pink tie and the blue tie is quite obvious in how the tie holds posture! Bravo, going to keep up with your videos.
A rule of thumb: shop Etsy for online ties. You'll find not only vintage ties, but various people that hand make beautiful ties for very affordable prices. I've seen some that are handmade in Georgia that retail at $50-$80.
@markhess107 There is a secret committee - it consists of 7 men, 7 women, and 1 cat. The cat has been around since Egyptian times and is notoriously unpredictable. Seriously - I think it comes down to our natural tendencies and attraction to beautiful (aka healthy) things.
Excellent tip with the dollar bill! I'm definitely going to use that to help me identify a skinny tie without having to actually measure (I'm horrible with guessing distances of any kind). I'm a smaller (5'7"), thinner man, and therefore wide (and even standard width) ties seem to drown out my entire torso.
Hey Mr. Centeno, thanks for the video! I've been wondering for a while about how to pick a tie! By the way, I think you look better on a black background... Just sayin'.
if you are a college student or recent grad, the tie bar . com is an indispensable resource! not Charles Alexander of course but just as nice as department store ties that sell for around $50-$75.....but they are ALL $15!!!
Should I just buy longer ties online? As a bigger guy, I finally stopped at my local big & Tall store and the longer ties (that I need) are too wide. I'm larger forward, not laterally. (Yeah yeah, I need to hit the gym) Unfortunately most or all of my ties are just too short (they should reach my belt, even if my gut is in the way) Are there online options for this? The four inch wide ties might achieve the length I want, but I think they would only make me look fatter.
Antonio, I'm familiar with the rule about wearing a tie that is proportional to your suit lapel, but does this mean that there is a lapel width for literally every width of tie out there? I have jackets with 2.5 inch lapels, but I have some 2 inch wide ties that I'd really like to wear. Every time I go out and ask about a skinnier lapel, people look at me like I'm crazy. Thank you for your help, Eric
Hi, Antonio. How are you? My name is Alexandre and I'm from Brazil. I will have an elegant dinner next week and I am planning to wear a black shirt. Thus, what color of tie would you recommend to wear with? And thanks for all your valuable tips. Best regards!
Also men with a large midsection should look for ties made for taller people. They generally will have large necks which take up a lot more length of the tie. I have a hard time with dry cleaners and neck ties. I have bought my husband some very expensive ties only to have them come back from the dry cleaners looking raggedy. I would try to spot clean it at home if possible because the silk will come back a mess if you let those dry cleaners handle them.
Tie colors are hard to pick. I'm thinking a dark blue, a dark gray, maroon, and maybe a dark brown? Should my tie color match my belt and shoes? I don't have any ties right now, looking to have 2-3 interchangeable ties.
Hi Antonio I really enjoy your videos helps me while trying to find my own style. I have a few of questions. Is there a rule for what type of tie one should wear? example skinny ties or thicker? also what tie knot should one use in a casual event compare to a business meeting? ect.
who decided what is style and what is fashion and what is formal or informal, is there a commitee of people world wide who decide what is and what isnt?
Where did you get that blue/purple tie you are wearing? I have a shirt that is similar in color to the one you are wearing and would like to buy a similar tie. Thanks!!
Hello Antonio, I would like to only say that even the highest quality tie would have a negative effect on the overall look if it is not matching the colour of the suit and the shirt.
no he is not, a sport coat has that flap on the left hand side, and the right hand side is shorter. the lapel is meant to be flipped up in a sport coat to be buttoned up.
meslevres A thicker feel, incomparable drape, a larger looking tie knot, and a more hefty weight - all things you will immediately notice the first time you hold a 7-fold tie in your hand. Read more here: www.tie-a-tie.net/blog/7-fold-ties-what-it-means/

Hey Antonio, Thanks for the information and the ideas. I visited Charles Alexander website and most of the ties that I like are out of order, I also sent them an email and called them regarding this but didn't get any response. Is there any way you can help me out in this issue?
Masoom Badhwar great to hear from you - maybe you can send a follow up email just so they can see it again, or perhaps try one of their social media sites?
Bob johnson To find a great tie at a value price, you have to pay attention to the details. This article should help: www.realmenrealstyle.com/how-to-buy-necktie/
Hi Antonio, since I'm profiting of your videolessons quite a bit these days, I'd like to give you one back for free ;) 0:08 this is why you never should point to something that happens outside your video. :D

You are welcome!

Oh come on man. It's not that hard to convert it to meters or centimeters. Those who are that much lazy need to wake up.

i did not know ties could come in a longer length. thank you! this video was very educational
Armani, Burberry, Hugo Boss, Gucci, pretty much the only brands I buy ties from. Good quality.
Excellent video. You should have shown the ties up close, although the difference between the pink tie and the blue tie is quite obvious in how the tie holds posture! Bravo, going to keep up with your videos.
@Canaduke That's a great suggestion - I'll probably start to do that! Thank you.

Thanks, need more channels like this!

Tomasz Wojcik They look great!
Check out The Tie Bar.com. They have a great selection and all ties are 15 bucks
You feeling okay Antonio? You seemed more...subdued...than usual.
+huberfloover Haha :) this was filmed back in 2011. Your comments helped in how I film my videos now
dude u talk much...rather than showing what r u saying...
Finding nice ties when your shirt is an 18 1/2 is a real pain.
picking ties is sooo confusing! :o(

+jazztom86 Yes I know...:) Old video filmed back in 2011.
I'd rather buy a tie from Minnesota than a tie from England, Italy, or the goddamn Soviet Union.
"Petite" and "man" are two words that just should not be put together. Ugh.
