That building on Dame Street is City and Hall and Dublin Castle. Trinity College is in the heart of the city at the bottom of Dame Street and Grafton Street.
A civil servant back in the day would often spend his lunch breaks delving deep into the catacombs of the cathedral. He would often keep a diary of his visits and later turned it into a gothic novel. He was Dublin born Bram Stoker, the novel was titled Dracula.
There are two cathedrals in Dublin, Christ church cathedral and St Patrick’s cathedral. Both are Protestant cathedrals with no Catholic cathedral in the city. Keeping the literary theme going Jonathan Swift was the dean of St Patrick’s cathedral who of course wrote Gullivers Travels among other works. You weren’t far from Dublin Castle here which is really worth a look and British history ties into loads of this which you may not be aware of. But I think you would need way more time to get into all of it.
@@jmo8934 That's not true. The Pro Cathedral is a Catholic cathedral. And both St Patrick's and Christchurch cathedrals were originally Catholic but were confiscated by Henry VIII when he threw a tantrum over the Pope refusing him a divorce (yet another one!! haha). Dean Swift's Gulliver's Travels was a satire of the British Empire. He was an early advocate for alleviating the suffering of Irish people under British rule. Not a bad sort.
They are immigrants. In the video he said he watched the news about the tents along the canal and the streets recently, and yet he insisted they were homeless people and not the influx of immigrants from the UK. Strange that!
