    It is gone, we lived through the zenith of our time.The corrupt government will take down this country like what happened to Rome. My condolence for anyone approaching retirement you may have concerns over whether your pension pot will stretch to cover the rising costs of living. Bad energy policy, bad foreign policy, bad regulatory policy , and insane fiscal policy

      WTF are you talking about. Alternative to govern to Communism? Its ideology is death. China is what it is now because they allow their people to dictate their own enterprise destiny. Besides free enterprises, everything else very much reflects the modern form of "red" imperialism. Just like the Chinese Empire in the 14th century. China's Communist Party is above the law. This special class of citizens, about 90 million that rule over 1.4 billion Chinese. To sum up, instead of governing by the people, for the people. China's governing for the Communist Party, by the Communist Party. Just like a king in the old days. Xi, not just Xi, is China's king forever. If you got yourself entangled with any political issues or the law. You quickly learn how fair and impartial China's political systems and rules of law are. It's a jungle law where only the Party prevails at all costs.

The Chinese worked hard under the CPC leadership who transformed China with its pragmatic economic policies and people centered political ideology. The evolution of the Chinese economy uses entrepreneurialism that is endemic to Chinese culture. China was at one time a leader in trading in the world. China has challenged itself constantly since becoming a modern state in 1949. China has adopted commonsense best modern practices to become the world´s first SOCIAL DEMOCRATIC MERITOCRACY. Ben Norton ´s rendition of this process is easy to follow. One part of Chinese growth has been the intervention of the government within the market socialistic system whereby wages are negotiated for periodic increases . This assures that the Chinese worker continues to grow economically year after year.

    1 correction, china did experimented with liberal capitalism like the west, which was turned a fishing village into a city. however, thru out the years, china saw the root cause of the issue with liberal capitalism, so they abandoned the idea of implementing liberal capitalism all over china. this fishing village is well known - shenzhen!
    after they abandoned the idea of liberal capitalism, they started to improve the 2 sessions that started in 1959 into the political system of today's china, which is the chinese gov called - democracy with chinese characteristics. generically, it is - socialism democracy, a hybrid system of socialism and democracy.

The worst outcome of this is exemplified by Bhopal gas tragedy in 1984 when a gas leak from a plant set by Union Carbide caused thousands of people to die in a single day. Exploitation at its worst. Some economists have projected that both the U.S. and parts of Europe could slip into a recession for a portion of 2023. A global recession, defined as a contraction in annual global per capita income, is more rare because China and emerging markets often grow faster than more developed economies. Essentially the world economy is considered to be in recession if economic growth falls behind population growth.

    in 2015, when i traveled in China, i found Xi jinping's "Principles of Governance" in every bookshop, public library. in the libraries, i often saw senior citizens (retired men had nothing better to do), heads down reading the Xi's book while taking handwritten notes on the side. i got curious, so i grabbed a copy from the shelf and started reading. Xi talked about how China has three "advantages" in competing with the world, in particular "system advantage", "principle advantage" and "cultural advantage", at the time i was an "American Exceptionalism" faithful and i thought Xi was "propaganda". but today, i realized Xi was telling the truth. indeed, china has a "system advantage", "principle (or political ideology) advantage" and "cultural (culture of work ethics) advantage".

    Women’s right also improved after the 1949 revolution. My grandma was sold as a child bride to a one year old baby boy. She worked as his nanny until the day he grow up. She was only 7 by then. After 1949, the new government sent women’s association members to her village and told her that the contract sold her was void and no person should be sold like that anymore. She then went back to her home and announced that she was no longer a future bride but a sister to the little groom. To improve her situation at home, the women’s Association also taught her read and write so she could be independent. It took the women’s Association years to educate women’s freedom in China and they worked restlessly in the beginning because they were working against thousands of years of Chinese tradition.

    Thank you, Ben Norton, for a very interesting analysis of how China rose to become a great economic power following the socialist system and how the US made a mistake of following a totally liberal free market policy with disastrous results. A very detailed analysis showing how one country rose and another went down. The effects are what we are seeing today - China with its gleaming buildings, high-speed trains, highways, strong manufacturing base, rising GDP, etc while the US is hollowing out with the only focus on building up its military (an unproductive industry which just sucks money from the national budget). Behind the rise of China are the clear socialist policies implemented by the Chinese government to bring up the economy of the country while the US tried to run the country via "the best democracy money can buy". The results are very clear to see. A very interesting and detailed analysis, one which I need to watch a second time to understand more fully what Ben is putting across.

    • @Ryan_hey
      @Ryan_hey ปีที่แล้ว +21

      @d0nj03 Their plan isn't to reach socialism, it's to reach communism. The reason they've allowed markets is because the world is still overwhelmingly capitalist, or at least, run by capitalists. To grow their productive forces, they couldn't grow socialism in a box. While private sectors and large inequality exists, the country is not controlled by capital. The reality is that a purely socialist economy has never been able to thrive in the current socioeconomic climate of the world. Abandoning dogmatic doctrine for a flexible approach on the long road to communism is undeniably doing very well for them.
      If/when we see the western imperialism fade as multipolarity rises, I think we can expect to see China move towards abolishing more and more of the private sectors of their economy.

    • @d0nj03
      @d0nj03 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    As a Chinese person born in Taiwan in 1985. I would like to point out a few other points. The century of shame to large extend was ended in 1911 when the Sun Yat-sen;Father of modern China overthrew Qing dynasty. He was very vocal in pushing for modernization of China industries and trying to fully bring the regional warlords into a cohesive government. 1945 marked the full liberation of China from imperialist colonial powers (Japan). And in 1949 the civil war marked the almost total reunification if China, the warlords were destroyed, disbanded, or pledged loyalty to the central government.
    There was only a few piece of China that was still controlled by other administrations, such as Taiwan Provice by Nationalist remnants, Macao, Hong Kong due to land lease aggreements.
    I look forward to the day Taiwan, the last missing piece of China can rejoin the motherland.

    The general answer is quite simple really. The Hegemonic US spent most of its focus, time, and resources invading or destabilizing other countries that did not accept its World Domination under the American rule-based international order. Whereas, China spent its focus, time, and resources building its infrastructure, economy, trade, and BRI in other countries under Mutual Respect Mutual Benefits, and non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries

    European power appears to be returning to its precolonial state.
    It will be interesting to see the 'talent' and 'innovation' of Europe without the brutality of aggressive military or economic conquest.
    I think Europe might have a few tricks left. It has, after all, amassed a great number of advantages from former conquest that continue to bear fruit. There is always, however, disadvantages that are budding at the same time.
    China has problems, but it does not have the problems the collective 'West' has.
    I surmise that the legacy of the West will haunt it forever.

    Many thanks for the outstanding video, Ben. It clarified a lot of questions I had about “different” models of socialism, not to mention that the ironies you pointed out were brilliant, etc. In a nutshell, it shed new lights to many aspects of the nuts and bolts about what China really represents today. It is like a complement of an article written by Pepe Escobar a few years ago called “The Deeper Roots of Chinese Demonization”.
    Despite being long, the video was worthy every minute but still, you provided well-concise information for a topic that could take hours.

    In fact, at that time, China had already completed the system of education, politics, economy, military industry, aerospace, industrial manufacturing foundation, laws and regulations, infrastructure construction and other aspects and fields, laying all the foundations for large-scale production of light industry, while capitalists in Europe, America, Japan and South Korea and other countries and regions moved low-end factories to China in order to pursue more profits and development and market. China's achievements have been achieved at the expense of the health of the people and the savings of generations of hard-earned money, don't forget how much money and profits the West has made in China exploiting and exploiting the Chinese people for decades and how they have been able to keep the price level steady and inflate and enjoy Chinese goods and products for years with their printed money and so on. And don't forget how China, the world's richest country, was invaded, colonized, plundered, divided up wealth, energy, food, resources, cultural relics, books, etc., built banks to control the financial industry, China's currency and high interest made the Chinese government sign a large amount of reparations in the war, Control the ports, trade with the outside world, territorial concessions, keep the Chinese out of their own territory, establish spheres of influence, proxy comprador warlords, bureaucratic divisions, and so on to exploit China and turn it into the poorest country in the world? Now, China has industrialized through the hard work of its own generations, saving money, being commercialized by the capitalization of state land, investing in infrastructure, investing in talent, education, culture, etc. While Westerners have exploited and exploited sweatshops to work for the world for decades to produce high-quality and inexpensive products while Europe, the United States, Japan and other countries make a pot full of profits and take most of the profits, maintain the inflation rate of developed countries such as Europe, the United States and Japan and the price level is stable, and ordinary people around the world can use high-quality and inexpensive industrial products and technological products, etc., On the other hand, China relies on Chinese people to accumulate capital one by one, and then continue to research and develop scientific research and education talents, and invest in training a big country to complete the modernization of the country.

    I just want to point out that the word "industrial" in its greek origin mean "hard work" so i think in Marxist literature it means productive as opposition to unproductive (rentier class).
    So developing industrial capacity means developing production.(wether its agricultural, manufactural or even intellectual [they all enhance each other in a dialectical manner])
    Another note : the proliteriat means people who dont poses the means of production (not only factory workers or blue collar jobs but also intellectual workers : doctors, engineers, teachers... And finally peseants)
    A final note. In one of his works Marx described peasents as idiots. It doesnt mean idiot as in stupid or mentally deficient but it means politically apathetic
