One thing you can do as a band-aid is rub some oil on the seal and where it contacts the chamber when you close the barrel. It creates more of an air seal allowing more pressure. I did this on my Gamo I have had since 2009 and it helped significantly.
I was shooting my Beeman silver kodiak x2 and on my 20th pellet, my airgun shot about 3 times louder and a very thin cloud started coming out of my barrel. I Breached the barrel and looked in and the Seal was slightly misplaced. Keep in mind, I packed the pellet in pretty tightly that time. Do you think the ring came out a bit when I closed the barrel, or did I pack the pellet too tight? Thanks!
Fab! Cheers Mike no doubt mine on the stingray needs a change. Thank you bach. Doubt mine has ever been changed since it was made so happy days. Cheers. Thanks for sharing
Thanks Bach, i hadn't changed the seals in my air guns at all either, the bsa's one was totally gone and was effecting the power and shooting, but the webley stingray was probably alright still
I have an old break barrel rifle that I need to replace the seal but I don't know what kind of rifle it is there's no stamps or markings on it it looks like an old crosman.
Used to be, after running an oiled patch through the barrel, the next shot out of my Benjamin went supersonic. This was not the case just now - gun sitting for a few years. Breech seal?
Its certainly could be mate, see if it looks worn out, squshed inwards, cuts etc, and for about £5 - £10 your not losing much if its still not that once changed
I have just brought one and they have used bathroom sealer in the hole and some has gone into the barrel. Is it salvageable its also looks like its had the end of the barrel banged on the floor.
Well done Mike I think these sorts of tutorials on how to do things like this will be really useful if you keep doing them.BTW got your letter this week thank you.i also took your advice and bought a 2250 this week, very pleased with it ,and already started to modify it.cheers mate ATB.
Thanks Jason, glad you got the letter, you'll have this month's one coming soon too as i left last months so late, hahaha I'll defo do more of these types of video, also might do a video on ideas how to make a survival air gun. You should really like the 2250, it just liked the 2240 but more powerful, i shall look forward to hearing what mods you do on it too.
Sir do you have any idea where I could buy rubber piston for my beeman Original model 5 cal..22? I would appreciate if you could help me find this piston so I can fix my pistol. Been searching on i ternet but could not fine this item.
Thanks WeaponCollector that was useful. I didn't know what that space was for until I watched your video. I thought it had just filled up with dirt. It looked like plumbers hemp oil and gingerbread. Took ages to clean had to use a tiny screwdriver and tweezers. .177 BSA Cadet Major. The Old Man bought it in the 1950's. I've never used E-bay, can you suggest anywhere else I could get a new O-Ring?
i think you can find a whole set of these rubber washers for that price on aliexpress, they are different sizes and used for plumbing, but something like 5 or 10 of them fit for airguns years ago saw a russian video about same thing, where he put 2 for better seal. and you can suck the air from the barrel when rifle isn't loaded, if it keeps the vacuum, the seal and plunger is fine... Some airguns might be built on purpose to leak the air because of laws, usually with small hole in a piston, that can be drilled and plugged with a piece of nail, some epoxy and hammered.
Well that's the thing isn't it, they probably won't have taken the gun to a gunsmith to do that. They'll have brought it in and said, 'all of a sudden it's got no power!' If he's unscrupulous, he could fit a £5 washer in 2 minutes and tell them it's had a new spring, all the seals have been done, it's basically a new gun internally. They'll hand over £50-£80, take it home, fires a treat and be happy with what they got.
Great video there Mike. I need to replace the breech seal on my Diana mod.34. I just read on the pyramidair website about shimming the Diana breech seal for better performance, have you ever heard of that or tried it?
Hi Tim, no never tried shimming, only thing i would say is be careful you don;t make them over power if there's ever a chance the police might check them, could be worth doing, but i'm really not sure.
Great advice there mate 🖒This is exactly why I haven't done it yet. I'm looking at getting a chrony f1 soon so may well give it a go when I do. Would like to put my 2240 over the chrony too as that doesn't half make a crack when it's fired. If I do it and find any benefit I'll let you know 🖒✌
WeaponCollector is there anyway , I can text u and send u pics directly , I’m really having trouble finding out the type of gun it is , sorry for the trouble but you’re like one of the only you tuber who covers this .
I’m new to air rifles and I have a problem with mine it will cock and dry fire by the pellet will not move how can i fix this please let me know how I can repair it
Have you checked the breech seal, its quite often that as its not creating a air tight seal, if not it will be inside the gun and that's a lot harder to fix, but can be done at home, check the breech seal and see it its worn-out, got holes etc
WeaponCollector I have replaced the Breech seal but It hasn’t seemed to change I’ll find out what it is some way or another but thanks for trying to help
I have a really old break barrel .177 The only info i can find on it is "made in Hungary" No model # or any other info... My breech seal looks to be possibly made of leather? How would one go about replacement? Thank you, and good vid.

Good to see you’re still making vids I remember watching your diy air rifle years ago
Blued steel and wood stock are always my favorite, beautiful rifles buddy!
Thanks Dave, yeah can't beat the old traditional look can you.
Great little tutorial, I guess as long as you can find the right model of seal the rest is easy.
you're right mate, easy to do as long as you have the right seal., cheers for watching
On my Diana Mod 6 there is 5 and 1/2 metal washers should I remove these as the new breech seal wasn't happily going in?
thank you. I've got a air gun not a year old and the pellet doesn't leave the seal - is this a seal problem do you think? thank you x
Do you have any idea the size of seal I would need to buy for a COMETA 50 2.2 any help would br appreciated thanks
Do you think changing the seal on my air rifle that loses velocity after being cocked for about 15 minutes would fix the problem?
I was shooting my Beeman silver kodiak x2 and on my 20th pellet, my airgun shot about 3 times louder and a very thin cloud started coming out of my barrel. mine did the exact same

So the round side should be places looking towards your face as your shooting?
sorry for the delay, yes have the rounded edge facing out.

Does changing the seal makes a difference in the shooting performance or velocity?
Yes, if the gun is weak, it might be a bad seal, changing it could help if thats the issue
Is there a particular website that you know of that sell seals for different types of pellet guns?
Sir do you have any idea where I could buy rubber piston for my beeman Original model 5 cal..22? I would appreciate if you could help me find this piston so I can fix my pistol. Been searching on i ternet but could not fine this item.
