***** Yes AR-15's do have a muzzle flash, when equipped with the standard A2 flash suppressor it is greatly reduced since that is the point. This one however clearly has a different style of muzzle brake that does not suppress the flash. Without a BFA (blank firing adaptor) installed in the muzzle, blank ammo will not cycle the action since there is no pressure built up behind the projectile. This one clearly did not have a BFA and while erik may have lots of money for ammo, he almost certainly does not have the money or sophistication for CGI on a 15 minute youtube video. So yes this was a real and satisfying muzzle flash.

Makes you wonder how much time and effort went into designing sustained weapons like the mini-gun. For a gun to constantly fire rounds cleanly like that it must have some serious engineering work inside it.
Casual Alien Internals dont really take much heat. Brass cases basically work as a very good heatsink, taking the heat with them as they are ejected. This is actually the main problem with caseless ammo and why g11 project was canceled. As far as barrels go, there are 6 of them, and they are spinning, thus creating big air flow. And air flow makes dramatic effect on cooling things.
***** The barrels don't seem to take long to start glowing. They must have designed it in such a way that the barrels don't flex when they heat up. They must have also designed the actual chamber of the weapon to stop it from turning into the center of Mordor.

I will say that yes it does flash as much as it does in the video I actually on that exact gun in desert camo using different Magpul parts as well just because I prefer them sometimes at night it’ll shoot a flame five - 7 feet long It truly is one of the most intimidating m4s I’ve ever owned it’s an amazing gun runs all ammo no matter what
I think it's funny that the official report say the gunman fired over 1000 rounds in 7 minutes but this video clearly shows that it takes 8 minutes to fire 850 rounds in full auto before the gun become virtually useless. let's not forget with that logic the gunman would have to carry over to 34 magazines of 30 rounds which is almost 50 pounds of ammo. and then expend it at borderline full automatic rate of fire.
The man on the video was taking only 2 seconds to fire a clip of 30 rounds. So that means only 1 minute of actual firing time for 900 rounds. The rest of the time is spent changing magazines and talking.
Two seconds for a guy that handles these types of weapons all the time. Plus around 2 seconds to drop, load and chamber, so at 4 seconds per 30 rounds, that is not going to reach 900 per minute. As you may be aware, a full auto lower receiver is not available to the general public. So, anyone with an AR is on semi-auto and can fire nowhere near 900 rounds per minute. However, it is easy to fire off 1000 rounds in 7 minutes, even with a semi-automatic rifle. Whether or not they are going to hit their target with the majority of those shots is another story.

Documented fact every shot is on camera lol look it up lol An AK-74M (aka the 5.45 sister of the AK 103) or the AK 101 in 5.56 will only go from 600-800 rounds similar to the AR. And that's simply because 5.45 and 5.56 operate at higher pressures than 7.62x39. Really is nothing to do with the platform the 7.62x39 is just softer on the guns.
actionmethod they would over run you think of the marines in Normandy even belt fed machine guns can only hold back so many people let alone an ar15 thousands of people charging at you with swords would take you out. Now if you had an army of guys with ar15s against an army of sword/ shield that army with guns would be unstoppable.
Long bows and crosbows can take you out easly, like 100 archers and you cant do shit. Also they can throw spears at you. And you cant carry much ammo and rations alone, they could even chase you around till you droped from exhaustion or starvation. you do realize the reason why the AR's in the military have a high failure rate is due to the standard GI mags that the vast majority of service members misuse and abuse? not mention its worse to over lube a AR in a harsh environment then to under lube it. the one hes using is pretty subpar compared to the ones that BCM and DD make which are milspec.
For reference, I was on the M-4 design team at Colt's in the late '80's and early '90's, debugged the M&P 15 rifle line at S&W, and designed the left-handed AR for Stag Arms. I am reaonably familiar with the weapon, and I have 30 years worth of professional references on Linkedin. My primary beef with the test shown in this video is the obviousy non-Milspec barrel. Back around 1990, before Crazy Hugo took over down there, we had the Venezuelan Army into Colt's, looking for a fairly substantial buy. They grabbed 3 M-16A2's off the racks at random, and fired each of them 10,000 times, on full auto. All with zero stoppages. The Milspec test for M-16/M-4 reliability requires 2 of each 100 rifles built to be fired full auto, 6,000 rounds each. The total allowable stoppages for any reason, weapon, magazine, ammo, or shooter, is 5 rounds out of the 12,000 fired. With 6 stoppages, the entire 100 rifle lot is scrapped, no excuses or exceptions. I've seen Milspec barrels deliberatly destroyed in testing, and it took a lot more than regular ammo and a few hundred rounds to blow them. In fact, I saw a switch barrel light machinegun experiment built on an M-16 receiver fired for 20 minutes with nothing but proof loads that shot the rifling out of the bore but kept on chugging happily. My guess would be that whomever is making Faxon's barrels missed one or more stress relief operations in heat treatment. That performance is shameful.
Here I was staring at the muzzle brake, thinking to myself: "This looks like it's turning when he's shooting. Haha, what an interesting optical illusion." And then the thing actually came off. It visibly unscrewed itself. This is why they told us to always check the flash hider in boot camp. I never thought it could actually come off.
I noticed at 7:08 when I was looking to see what that spray coming at him was. I think the loose device is shearing lead from the slug as they lead the barrel.
Fully semi automatic single shot bolt action burst fire with 100 round clips and 50 round magazines with a select fire lever to make it 3 round burst full auto with semi automatic capabilities
I once ran a bunch of mags back to back full auto in my M16 at the range when we were given permission to do an ammo dump full auto. The barrel glowing red kinda freaked me out. LOL

In the field in 70s in the hueys we shot the s@#$ out of everything. At one time we jerked 60s off the bunjee every five hundred rounds grab a cold one..we were spraying every LZ.6 to 20 times a day. 100 the point of the exersize IS it can handle the heat awhile.... A friend of mine is an explosives guy in Iraq he got the idea of putting shot gun shells with bird shot, trip wires and wireless ignite. He told me when they ran their lines they would find bodies every where. So a manufacture made them some shells they could drop on the trail. dig a hole place the shell....they found insurgents into the valleys "bird shot balls" they called it.

Makes you wonder how much time and effort went into designing sustained weapons like the mini-gun. For a gun to constantly fire rounds cleanly like that it must have some serious engineering work inside it.
It just has 8 or 9 barrels on it, so none of them heat up too fast.

Internals dont really take much heat. Brass cases basically work as a very good heatsink, taking the heat with them as they are ejected. This is actually the main problem with caseless ammo and why g11 project was canceled.
As far as barrels go, there are 6 of them, and they are spinning, thus creating big air flow. And air flow makes dramatic effect on cooling things.
***** The barrels don't seem to take long to start glowing. They must have designed it in such a way that the barrels don't flex when they heat up. They must have also designed the actual chamber of the weapon to stop it from turning into the center of Mordor.

I think it's funny that the official report say the gunman fired over 1000 rounds in 7 minutes but this video clearly shows that it takes 8 minutes to fire 850 rounds in full auto before the gun become virtually useless. let's not forget with that logic the gunman would have to carry over to 34 magazines of 30 rounds which is almost 50 pounds of ammo. and then expend it at borderline full automatic rate of fire.
The man on the video was taking only 2 seconds to fire a clip of 30 rounds. So that means only 1 minute of actual firing time for 900 rounds. The rest of the time is spent changing magazines and talking.
Two seconds for a guy that handles these types of weapons all the time. Plus around 2 seconds to drop, load and chamber, so at 4 seconds per 30 rounds, that is not going to reach 900 per minute. As you may be aware, a full auto lower receiver is not available to the general public. So, anyone with an AR is on semi-auto and can fire nowhere near 900 rounds per minute.
However, it is easy to fire off 1000 rounds in 7 minutes, even with a semi-automatic rifle. Whether or not they are going to hit their target with the majority of those shots is another story.

An AK-74M (aka the 5.45 sister of the AK 103) or the AK 101 in 5.56 will only go from 600-800 rounds similar to the AR. And that's simply because 5.45 and 5.56 operate at higher pressures than 7.62x39. Really is nothing to do with the platform the 7.62x39 is just softer on the guns.

Now if you had an army of guys with ar15s against an army of sword/ shield that army with guns would be unstoppable.
No one would probably try and fight you after you killed an entire legion of guys, but ok.
Long bows and crosbows can take you out easly, like 100 archers and you cant do shit. Also they can throw spears at you. And you cant carry much ammo and rations alone, they could even chase you around till you droped from exhaustion or starvation. And I almost forgot about cavalry, those guys would take out even few guys with AR's if there were enough horseman.

For reference, I was on the M-4 design team at Colt's in the late '80's and early '90's, debugged the M&P 15 rifle line at S&W, and designed the left-handed AR for Stag Arms. I am reaonably familiar with the weapon, and I have 30 years worth of professional references on Linkedin.
My primary beef with the test shown in this video is the obviousy non-Milspec barrel. Back around 1990, before Crazy Hugo took over down there, we had the Venezuelan Army into Colt's, looking for a fairly substantial buy. They grabbed 3 M-16A2's off the racks at random, and fired each of them 10,000 times, on full auto. All with zero stoppages.
The Milspec test for M-16/M-4 reliability requires 2 of each 100 rifles built to be fired full auto, 6,000 rounds each. The total allowable stoppages for any reason, weapon, magazine, ammo, or shooter, is 5 rounds out of the 12,000 fired. With 6 stoppages, the entire 100 rifle lot is scrapped, no excuses or exceptions.
I've seen Milspec barrels deliberatly destroyed in testing, and it took a lot more than regular ammo and a few hundred rounds to blow them. In fact, I saw a switch barrel light machinegun experiment built on an M-16 receiver fired for 20 minutes with nothing but proof loads that shot the rifling out of the bore but kept on chugging happily.
My guess would be that whomever is making Faxon's barrels missed one or more stress relief operations in heat treatment. That performance is shameful.

I use for road trips I think I paid 40 bucks for it. it is a piece of junk I shoot it just enough to keep familiar with it. i use it on motorcycle road trips, have for thirty years...if I need it I have something to use If I need to throw it, small change today.
8888 another way of looking at your work is...it shows us how well built things are..In basic the rifle at the range were bulk cleaner mis matched parts..they barely worked well enough to qual. In the field in 70s in the hueys we shot the s@#$ out of everything. At one time we jerked 60s off the bunjee every five hundred rounds grab a cold one..we were spraying every LZ.6 to 20 times a day.

A friend of mine is an explosives guy in Iraq he got the idea of putting shot gun shells with bird shot, trip wires and wireless ignite. He told me when they ran their lines they would find bodies every where. So a manufacture made them some shells they could drop on the trail. dig a hole place the shell....they found insurgents into the valleys "bird shot balls" they called it.
