As someone who mains top and mid, and has played malphite in both, a little tip that’s obvious but always reliable is to try and trade heavily at lv 5. Lv 5 is around when you’re coming back from a back (in a usual lane). So before you get to lv six, just trade health, even if it’s really unfavorable trades. Usually this is a given in any matchup since lv 6 times are powerspikes, but because Malphite is usually ALWAYS the one who starts an engage, it’s even better for him in particular. Even if you’re at lower health after the trades leading up to lv 6, you can just engage with ult, and since all your damage comes in before your ult stun finishes, your low health doesn’t matter. What matters is their health, and if you’re 0/0/0 and decent cs, without ignite, 40% health on a non-tank champ is pretty much always a 100% kill unless they flash the ult or you miss. You can even see this at 3:00. He backs at lv 5, then when he gets back, trades before lv six, cuz he knows if he gets the other guy to around 40-50% hp, he just wins. Even the qiyana who was 100% hp get chunked for 60/70% hp at lv 7. Basically, even if you’re like 10% hp vs a 40/50% hp opponent after trading, it’s worth as long as you hit ult.

Since the video says Malzahar is a counter, I wanted to share a game when I was playing Malphite vs Malzahar.(btw I am on plat elo) I was having a good game with an excellent farm so I recalled with a lot of money and it was enough for hextech rocketbelt and my friend said just buy it and let's see what happens. The funny part is it was countering Malzahar's passive so hard. Since the animation is faster than your Q you can Hextech rocketbelt into Q with easy harash and when you think it is enough to all in you can proc Malzahar passive with Rocketbelt and ult. Your E kills Malzahar's voids so he can't push that easy. Maybe it is different in high elo but I am not sure if Malzahar is a big counter after buying Rocketbelt.
In lane yeah. But, as sylas does, malz counters him past 20 min, cause malphite can't shadow R him anymore. He can os him face to face, but not by surprise. And trust me, malz knows that and won't be face to face with u xd

I've been playing AP Malph jgl for months, it's my favourite pick, very easy to play. Why do I think jungle is better? Good clear, I almost can't be harassed before lv 6, easier to get my Ultimate Hunter stacks, and no mana issues thanks to jgl regen. But to be frank, the most op thing is having smite: instant cast damage. You know what's a good item vs Ap Malph? Banshee's. Guess what happens if I just press R and smite mid-flight right before impact?
Back in season 1 of league malphites W used to give a ridiculous amount of AD so I had fun going triforce -> infinity edge and oneshotting any carry that was on the same screen as me, same concept as this.

I mean, yeah malphite was always this busted. Back in S8 when the mage items were overtuned too I did this all the time on malph. There are better ways of winning though, like mathematical draven toplane where you go ghost/cleanse and focus on denying resources to the biggest amount of enemies possible, but because of your passive, you can still snowball if botlane keeps losing.
