This did take off in pop culture, they just didn't make a movie because while Fox owned both Aliens and Predator, Terminator and Robocop are owned by different entities. But even recently on Mortal Kombat 11 people went nuts that they could finally do the Robocop vs Terminator fight. Also, this is masterful artwork by Simonson.
Great Blast from the past! I was in Walter's first class at The School of Visual Arts. He was working on this book at that time and our first assignment was to draw a 3 page ED-209 sequence from the second issue. Good memories...

I feel obligated to remind that this miniseries was directly ported into a Super NES side shooter. All cutscenes of the story were scans taken directly from this set of books. I still have the cartridge.

With all the technical detail, those reflections on metal and other textures, this series might be my favorite Walter Simonson artwork. (And I'm a big fan of his). Several very cinematic scenes with great visual storytelling, and action scenes where the movement lines and layouts beautifully direct the readers eye through the page.
This was the series that made me a Simonson fan for life. I had not really noticed Walt's work before RvT, but that changed quickly after getting this series. And luckily I got Walt to sign my copy of issue #1 when I interviewed him back in the early 00s.
I loved this crossover! Easily among the very best movie franchise crossovers right up there with any Alien/Predator series.
RIP Ed. This was the video where you guys got me hooked.
I read this for the first time a few years ago. I've been a fan of these two characters nearly my entire life and I love this comic. It is wonderful.

I saw that at the drive in as a kid. Can't remember the movie it played before.
Noticed Adam Hughes listed in the special thanks credits on the interior covers. I’m curious if he did some behind the scenes work/inking or something on the series.
Art Adams as well. For me the art quality went way up in the last two issues, not just because of Oliff's coloring. It would definitely be interesting to know if he had help on the inks.
I want the gallery edition. The black and white changes the tone of the story.

This is awesome fellas. Thank you for this. I've been fans of both Frank Miller and Walter Simonson for a while and I never knew they did this. I love RoboCop and Terminator. I have no idea how I never knew about this. I just tried looking online for paperbacks and these things are hundreds of dollars. Glad I could see the story here. Much appreciated
What I liked about Robocop vs Terminator (as apposed to Superman vs Terminator) is that the entire story arc, either one could have won in the end. I would love to see this as a movie but, since Aliens vs Predators the movies did nothing for me despite my being a major fan of the first movie in each of their franchises and only like the 1st two Terminators movies, I'm doubtful that I would the audience they would be tailoring it for (sigh).
The Pistons played at the Palace of Auburn hills up until recently, so it makes sense that people would go there to see a game. Also, the Spartans are Michigan State, so it makes sense that people would go see them as well
aliens vs predator I remember from the Dark horse 90s Aliens comics (UK); think the first series one was in colour but in later volumes B/W. There's a badass human who becomes an honorary predator at one point. Think sexy cosplay predator and you get the idea.

Re Spartans: From the mid of RvT#1, Spartans are the name for Michigan State University athletics so not crazy for the cops to be talking about them.
On the "Spartans" comment: In the movie, Clarence Boniker says that he never misses a Tiger's game.
