My cousin Matthew Findlay is a dairy farmer near Raglan. His Mum is a Kiwi his Dad a Scott. His New Zealand Grandfather was a dairy farmer so it skipped a generation. I visited just over six years ago now. Well done on your fishing 🎣 👏 👍
Nice going. they should have restrictions on how close those inshore those trawlers should be able to come...Dragging those nets across the bottom where mum and dad are fishing with their rods is quite a contrast
Looked like you all had a great time, and some might tasty fish as well. And even some mammals to see you back to shore again. I'm sure I would have enjoyed that very much myself, even though it's been 30 years since I was fishing last.
90% is really good, well done! great management. I was thinking of doing the same, just getting the calves done each year. But just a question, Did you run it past your Field Tech, From memory I think its more expensive doing it that way as the whole herd DNA is at a cheaper rate. All though its a big cost to wear doing the whole lot. You can also pay it off over 2 years interest free. Just some food for thought. I totally agree on the genetic gain too, has to be great thing! Interesting, haven't heard of it yet, but to honest we don't get a lot of milk fever (think I had 1 or 2 Cows this last calving) so not looking to change it to much. But if we do run into problems Id definitely start looking into it.
Good stuff, never fished the west coast but definitely on the bucket list, what time if the year is best and does slow jigging work ok on the drift?? Keen to drag the boat from Vegas for a weekend with a few mate's. Any info would be fantastic.
When it goes off it goes off, it’s awesome out there. I’m probably not the best person to ask, I don’t go that often but if you launch from Manu Bay you don’t go over the bar but you’ll want a reasonably flattish day. Just ask the locals what depth people are catching fish at and head for that meter mark 👍 If the swells not to bad you could jig but probably best to anchor up
Interesting people go out so far, I sat at 25m outside of Manu and two 16lb snapper caught that day. Might have just been a good day though, haven't been that lucky since. You tend to head north once you get out? Any tips for bar crossing?
Lifejackets don't work so well when you take them off. Poor choice much like driving while using a cellphone. Dude, what a let down. You have a family.
You’d make a bloody good fishing show host
Once a day fishing excellent
Good to see you off the farm ! Thanks for sharing the time off .

Worry about yourself
Get off the couch bozo
If the boat is over 6 meters you dont need a lifjacket
