Those chords in the beginning sounds very reminiscent of The Black Goddess Rises
This band never ceases to amaze, everything I find from them is an epic masterpiece of fearsome black/gothic metal combined with haunting beauty or traditional metal style, I think they are timeless.
Hammer of the Witches is amazing. They were doing good since Godspeed after a few so-so albums, different but good, getting better with each release, but this is the jewel of the crown, it surpasses both Godspeed, Darkly and Manticore. I think it's as good as their first albums. I don't really get the hate for this band anyways. They've been brave and have established a very personal sound in the Gothic Metal scene.

I personally don't like Nymphetamine so much, but it's all about personal opinion.
Yeah I know their first albums were great but I see nothing wrong with the newer ones, specially this one.
I think cradle of filth is a Gothic Black metal band and their music is beautiful! Cradle of filth is one of my favorite bands (most c.o.f so gs are like that)

Hammer Of The Witches features a brace of new brace of guitarists and their introduction brings new life to the previously weak guitar solos. The new Cradle Of Filth album has a concertedly metallic density compared to previous albums. Imperial blastbeats and ripping guitars overshadowing the flamboyant gothicism.
Hammer Of The Witches is not as infectious as The Manticore, it is a more full-bodied and fruitful platter.

Well maybe this song is not the best example of their return to form, their song "right wing of the garden triptych", is a better example of a return to the first albums. Actually, the first 5 albums are all amazing, Midian was the last cradle of filth album I liked.
Jarlaxle Deathe, you may have a point!. The techno part is only a few seconds, but the atmosphere of the song is the same as the songs on Midian. I didn't notice the simplicity of the lyrics myself, but comparing it to songs of "cruelty and the beast", I can see what you mean.
Overal I really enjoyed listening to the new (not so new anymore) cradle of filth album!.

They were in a league of their own back then. I never stopped listening to The principle..... for the next two years. Until V empire was released. Cruelty is my nr. 1 album of all times.
The Dusk... Original sin is like a time capsule back to those days.
Fans who got into the band in the post Midian era might find it a bit chaotic.and unstructured.
But that was the appeal of those early albums. The chaos fell into order more and more with each listen.
And The Original Sin is the missing link between the chaotic an furious
V empire and the mid paced and epic Dusk.... I can't see how any 90s Cradle fan can dislike it.
The artwork is stunningly beautiful!! Not buying a physical copy on cd or lp is a big loss for those who enjoy the Cradle aesthetic.
All the lps are sold out though.... They are probably on E Bay and Discogs for a fuckton of money.... Even when there still were copies of the white lp left in stores, it was on discogs for 80 - 100 Euros.

Cradle of Filth,are One
This sounds a lot like a revitalization of their old past works, which I enamor so dearly. I hope they continue down this path to slowly, yet surely regain the roots that made this band so grandiose to begin with. This was a great start on it. One thing I wonder though, is if they can still make their slow enchanting symphonic sound to build up to a climax like how they used to, as well like in Beneath the Howling Stars or Bathory Aria. I do hope this transition continues though! It was an amazing song.

Finally!!! after over 10 years they again created something worth listening. After few very weak albums: Godspeed, Darkly, Manticore they created somethig that can be compared to Midian or Thornography. This album is huge!!!!!!!! Quality!!!!!!!!

I am proud to say I own this record and had it on endless replay for most of 2017. Fucking solid. Everything before hand has been utter shit, bar their first 3 records and their first EP. That's the Cradle I fell in love with.
