I’ve no doubt I missed out on some other talking points. Feel free to comment your resources & advice for manga collecting, so we can ALL help each other out! :)
Side note on #4: You should ALWAYS read a variety of genres/dems. It broadens your horizons and perspective. Doesn’t mean you need to physically collect all of them tho :p

As a relatively new manga collector, this video was very helpful (especially the spreadsheet)! I've been buying manga casually for a while, but late last year I finally started to think about what I'd like to prioritize for my collection. I'm thankful that I can read most Japanese manga (as long as there's furigana next to the kanji), since Japanese manga is much cheaper to collect. I've had good experiences with mercari & ebay so far for bundles, just need to be patient to find deals.

I know that I am late to this (about 7 months), but I have a tip that might be helpful. Watch the anime adaptation ver. The reason why I say this is because if you enjoy watching the first few anime episodes of the series, then there is chance that you might enjoy reading the original source. If they don't have anime then read the first few chapters. See if you enjoy it. Plain and simple.
One more tip: Collect Anime/Manga that you enjoy. Like a videogame collection, collect what you like, don't let others say. I think that this was cover please let me know if I did.

knowing i can get it for cheaper has definitely kept me from blindly grabbing series at barnes and noble, i tend now to prefer going to second hand bookstores like 2nd and charles or half price books for older titles that are harder to find online. but right stuf has definitely become it's own new problem lol. I def have given myself rules to help me stay on track and not overspend/overbuy. If I don't want to reread the series i don't want it in my collection especially with big series that are over 10 volumes. most shonen jump once i've read it i don't really feel the need to bring it home.

also usually if i blind buy, i try and read it within the week so if i really just hate it i can return it to the store i got it from. i don't see harm in returning books especially if they're new.

This was a great tip list. Your third tip was the best one in my opinion. It’s easy to get excited about a new hobby and over due the purchases. I was a big American comic collector for many years and I would buy stuff that I still haven’t read to this day.

I have the problem where I would sell things every week and make about 60 bucks. Every weekend I would go to Barnes and nobles and kinokuniya and get 3-4 mangas. I would buy them and then read them weeks after.

I read free ones digitally and really think about whether I want physical copies. I just don’t have the space but the temptation is hard!

I too have started collecting manga since last year. Right now I have a few volumes of (in alphabetical order) Attack on Titan, Bleach, Jujutsu Kaisen, One Piece, One Punch Man and Tokyo Ghoul.

Yo I just found your channel bc I was looking for an unboxing on the Claymore box set. I just recently started making a good amount of money to start manga collecting and my goto is definitely RightStuf. Your third point really resonated with me, I have a ton of manga on back order on RightStuf but no room to display it or any time to read it. I'm definitely gonna cool it with the spending, Claymore will have to wait!
