I had a transplant a year-and-a-half ago and I feel better then I have ever felt. I hope your story has a happy ending sweetie. All life is Precious and Beautiful. Please comment and let us know that you're okay
Hi Sara I'm so happy for you. I need a liver transplants. Just seeing your story it made me cry. I am so happy for you, I hope my story ends the same way. lots of love and God bless you always!🙏🙏 thank you for sharing this beautiful story you are so beautiful.❤💜
Sarah your story is inspiring, I am now going threw this with my husband of 39 years. He had the liver transplant and had complications of an infection and his kidney's shut down ICU and finally out of the hospital after 47 days to dialysis every Monday, Wednesday & Friday alone with the constant tube feeding. We were told this Friday that his kidneys are now working an he no longer needs dialysis. Step by step we are getting there together. We are staying strong and hope to plan a beautiful vacation when he is up to it. God Bless you all.
I was diagnosed with liver cancer on March 28th, 2019 placed on the list May 28th, received my new liver on August 22nd 2019, back to work on October 22nd. Doing very well.
This story really hits a spot with me...I didnt have Wilson's disease but my liver failed, I woke up in UNC with a new liver but the crazy thing was my surgeon said my liver looked beautiful, healthy..etc. I was blessed to get a life liver...I fell into a coma for almost 2 months, they had no idea what caused it but it caused my kidneys to almost shut down so i was on dialysis for months!!the whole time i was in coma and during the surgery. It's been almost 2 years now and I'm so grateful to be alive for my wife and 2 daughters. The docs did NOT think I would survive the surgery which took 15 hours. UNC made me a case study because they have never seen anything like what I had. I did meet a volunteer at the hospital that had Wilson's disease....she had a liver transplant at 14 and then another at 24 (she got her life liver finally!) I got my life liver on the first try by the grace of God. Thank you for sharing your amazing story! It feels good to tell my story also..people who havent been through it can only imagine.
We appreciate your comments so much and sharing what you've gone through as well! Thank you as well for taking the time to hear Sarah's story. You are one strong individual for enduring, embrace that!! :)
If you dont mind me asking...what do you mean when you say you got your life liver just wanted to ask you.. my mother got her liver 3 months ago and i hope she can live a long life.. beautiful story and god bless
Sarah, I was diagnosed with Wilson’s disease in 2003, but my liver regenerated. 14 years later, last November, my Wilson’s took a turn for the worst, and I was transplanted at 33 on 12/11/17. The first liver clotted at the artery, so I had a 2nd transplant on 1/5/18. I am 10 weeks out now and I feel great. I remember being that 19 year old scared to death with my parents by my side on the list. Bless you
I got a liver transplant about a year-and-a-half ago. I am a father of two young children that I have sole custody of and there's not a day that goes by that I'm not thankful for it, but my thoughts always go back to someone had to die so I could live and I'm having a hard time coping with that for some reason. It has inspired me to live my best life to honor that sacrifice. I really wish we had the opportunity thank the donor's family personally oh, maybe that would help my guilt.
I'm in the same boat as you. I recall my doctor telling me that the liver transplant committee voted on who should get the liver that was available. It was between me and the patient next door. Since I had a greater chance of dying because my kidneys were also failing, the doctors decided to give me the transplant. I felt such a deep survivors guilt because the next day the patient next door died.
How it feels like to get liver transplant, does ur health is better and you r fit today by weight and outer personality one can see you and tell you that you r looking better than before?
Your story is so familiar to my own, my liver disease was cryptogenic (No known cause). I experienced most of the things you talked about and the thing that surprised me more than anything was the lack of fear and the speed at which it all happened. I also received a liver transplant about three weeks after being diagnosed but my memory is very cloudy at least two weeks prior to the operation, which was on December 29, 2018. I'm a lot older so my recovery has been a little slower but very positive at the same time. To see how well you're doing is a blessing and brings tears of joy to my eyes. God Bless you young lady and thanks for sharing. P.S. for those of you going through this, trust in the process and keep positive!!!
I am from Western Australia. It’s comforting to hear your stories. Waiting for my transplant as my liver cyst reoccured post hepatectomy 2 yrs ago. Praying for healing and fast recovery🙏❤️
Just got listed. Had CD for 40 years. About 2-3 years they gound stage one varicies. Being an RN I knew what that meant. Portal hypotension. We ran some test and I have stage 4 fibrosis. I was ok for a while until Dec. 2018 and was hospitalized with hepatic encephalopathy. I've been losing wt not eating, weak as all get out. So now I am waiting for a liver and my MELD score is moving up. It is now 18. Friends ask if I can get one soon. I figure when God has the right liver for me I'll get one. God has it all under control.
I hope she sees shes very lucky. Many people get rejection after 6 years after a transplant like the story someone had to be benny. He died at 15 and has faced 2 livers transplant and after the medication put him through so much pain he picked to live the rest of his life without pain got rejection 6 months later and died like 4 months after that ..... mind u he was dealing with this since birth and got it at the age if 7 by 13 got rejection...who every dodnt get rejection I hope u realize how lucky yah are
I am Nurse, Liver transplant are relatively easy because you can take a pice of the liver of a living person. Of course it has to be a perfect DNA match. The small piece will grow larger and also the donors liver will grow that missing pice back. Strangly the liver is the only organ in mammals that can regrow missing pieces
@@agnesboland8920 wonderful idea! Thank you. you should wait 12 months. It can take up to one year for your liver to fully recover. For a pregnancy you [and your unborn child] need a fully functional liver! I assume you don't drink alcohol and don't take any medications...
@@SalvatoreEscoti I drink socially but I would have no trouble stopping. How long is the screening process for liver donors? If it takes about 6 months and then I have to wait another year my time-line is an issue. So much to consider!
@@agnesboland8920 well, the screening process does not take 6 month. Maximum 4 Weeks and it also depends on the state you are resident in. As far as I know every state has different regulations. But if you really want to be a donor you should quit alcohol at least 2 weeks before you start the screening process. And of course you have to search for a specialised clinic. What is the state you currently live in?
I been where you was... its not shallow.. I know I caused my own issues, but I'm only 39.. My mother passed at 46 from cancer. I have 4 boys who are now 16, 19, 22, & 23, my grandaughter is 5. I want to be there to see my kids grow in life, my gd graduate.. great grand children. They say you have 5 to 6 yrs life expectentcy after a live donar transplant .. or 5 to 6 after liver cirrhosis [sorry for the spelling] i go the 26th of August to Morgantown Wv to see te liver specialist ... scared..
I pray for everyone on a transplant list! Stay strong! It will happen.
I’m on the list and so scared. I feel better watching this. I hope you have a long and happy life.
We are so glad Sarah's story could help you feel better. Hang in there, you are strong! Please let us know the update. :)
