Thank you for these videos. As an American who lived in London in the 80's I always loved the subtlety and charm of British Television in terms of content, presentation and visual design. It's a shame none of the "local" ITV franchises exist anymore. The global ITV branding is understandable and probably cost saving but it certainly is dull. The Thames ID and the Central early 80s globe are my personal favorites.
Very good idents, but they're mocks. Very good mocks, but mocks nonetheless. In actual fact ITV did bugger all to commemorate their 60th anniversary, apart from an hour-long live transmission of Coronation Street.
@@badcatalex No ITV made this, I remember see this 60th anniversary sequence of the indents. I think that they only used this for the 60th anniversary week only. But several people have done mock versions of them as well.
I like how ITV gave the regional idents one last time embrace our screens and recreated the 1989 generic ident with its new programming. Great video Adam.
I think these are very well done, clever how they got the shapes to fit the 'itv' part. The part that lets it down a little is that my region, Border TV covering the distinctive region of Cumbria, Dumfries and Galloway, the Scottish Borders, and the Isle of Man wasn't included. Given we were and remain the only cross-national ITV region, the only part of Scotland fully under ITV Plc to this day, and have always had a unique challenge covering news and current affairs (even if it has been simplified a bit with the lodging of the Isle of Man with the North-West, as part of Granada) with the different priorities of England, Scotland, and Man, particularly since devolution and the rise of the SNP, and the fact that it was the ITV region that led the coverage of the most deadly act of terrorism on British soil, it might have been nice to be remembered. Southern Scotland and Cumbria, weren't feeling terribly loved by ITV at the time. During the merger between ITV Border-Tyne Tees, the issue of local news became VERY political. Effectively, they were trying to pass off mostly North-East news where the service was based as local, giving an inferior provision compared to what we had before. A cross-party alliance of politicians ended up getting involved and eventually, we got our Border news service from Carlisle restored. Sadly, in this context, given the timing, being omitted shouldn't really surprise me. Clearly, they thought we were too small and insignificant an area to get the same treatment as the mighty Yorkshire or Thames.
I’m pretty sure it’s just because ideally fitting the 2013 ITV logo with shapes of the 1961-1999 Border logo would be somewhat more complicated than the likes of Tyne Tees, Yorkshire, LWT, etc.
@earthluma I agree, its just sad. The Borderlands as a whole are a bit of a left behind backwater in pretty much every other sphere of life except when there's some kind of disaster and Border TV itself never really had that much presence on the national network to start with because we were too small to commission anything important drama or comedy-wise, so our non-presence in this on-top of everything else becomes noticeable after a while. Even just an italic 'B' would have done, but never-mind.
I’m surprised that Channel TV wasn’t one of the old ITV Regional companies in this as back in 1979 when the infamous ITV Strike happened, they were the only regional company to stay on air fearing the strike would put them out of business
I'd be happy to have these regional idents as a fixture for each respective itv region before the news or (in the otherwise very rare instance) strictly regional programming. One can dream...and then realize that modern tv is actually shite and just stay on TH-cam...
Great fantastic stuff- you also missed the A.B.C Television i.t.v broadcast (from 1955 - 1968) I’ve been an i.t.v. Viewer from 1955 to present day 1/2/2019. Cheers!
You are joking, right? The charlatans that masquerade as the current ITV deserve to die a thousand deaths for pissing on a golden legacy of broadcasting and forsaking their own heritage.
@@edwardburek1717 I'm not even British and I can tell it's hot garbage. These are mockups, they never even commemorated the old stations. Corporate ITV killed them.

The "Finale Presentation" was actually a Mock created by Sean Patchen to celebrate ITV's 60th Anniversary, not an official ITV Ident.

Grampian served the north, and STV serves the central belt and still does to this day!
Those idents where mocks and where not part of the 60th anniversary of ITV
We're still getting ready for ITV 67 years later
I love these anniversary jingles, as I did on NBC.
I fell in love with ITV just for this jingle.
All of those were mocks and never broadcast on TV.
Talking about this. th-cam.com/video/vvUeDqa23kY/w-d-xo.html Even it is a mock it is
Despite it being a mock it is a very good one to analyse. I would love it if you did an ident review on itv night time idents from 1988-1999
Really wish they kept these for longer like what they did with BBC 2's 90's throwbacks
