I saw Cheap Trick many times, saw lots of bands several times but Cheap Trick was always the best live band I ever saw, they played the flame in the rain at rock county fair and me and my girl sat in the rain embracing, we got married
My first concert was in 1982 it was Cheap Trick I was 15 years old. Thanks to my mom and dad for letting me go and for letting me listen to all genres of music. Cheap Trick is phenomenal live.
They were a fun group. late '70s, '80s and early '90s. Silly group and their videos. Power pop, punky, hard rock. Sometimes a little new wave/punk. Very versatile band.
These guys were good yet never seemed to be taken seriously. They were characters. They had a sense of mirth where most other bands of that era were less so. They came across as a novelty, perhaps. But like I said, they were good. They did have several hits. The one that stuns me the most is 'Voices'. Robin's frail pleading vocals of Rick's genius stumbling lyrics is the most teenage angst in a song I'd ever heard.
They def. weren't taken as a novelty....Cheap Trick were a strange yet infectious band. Took a minute for the critics to really "get" them. But the fact that they continue to be brought up as influences for some pretty huge bands and ended up inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall if Fame says they turned out pretty well....
No novelty act. Robin Zander has one the greatest voices in rock and roll....and is STILL amazing at 70 years old. They have, and still tour more than 95% of the bands out there....any age.
Top marks for the video featuring Rick’s ridiculous multi necked guitar! Apparently he had a couple of them and one went missing - finger of suspicion pointed at his guitar tech!
Being a little kid in the same area they were from when the were a top rock act makes me appreciate them a bit more, they were low key, nice and humble even w hen selling out huge arenas , they are still touring today. Great band.
Yes, we screamed "She's Tight!" at every show LOL! They were so awesome live and one of the most energetic shows you'd ever see. I was fortunate to see them many times through the years and even worked a show with them when they came to town here.
The love of my life Sue B Honey said her favorite song was I Want You To Want Me by Cheap Trick. They used to say I looked like Bun E Carlos the drummer.
If yall want to hear vocals that will blow your mind with this guys vocals. The amount of power and control he has is inhuman. Their song, "If You Want My Love", is Freddie Mercury-level difficult. There is a vocal climb in that song, that no one on this planet but their singer can pull off. If you hear anyone try to sing it as is, like Bono said when he tried to sing it, "The room started to spin, I was running out of oxygen as I heard the Edge ask me in slow motion, are you alright. This is not a song to be sung by mere mortals". That sums it up... the hardest vocal climb in rock Also the best Beatles song never done by the Beatles.

I think it's because it's two characters and he's playing both sides. It's almost like a little playlet, so we see they're both in on the conspiracy. You never really saw female characters like this in music back then.

Brad & Lex A very beautiful song from Big Tom McBride that he sings with his friend and neighbor Margo O'Donnell 'A Love That's Lasted Through the Years' th-cam.com/video/uwpTvovf8L0/w-d-xo.html

Did Kings X open for them. Cheap Trick was my first concert, as well.

Cheap Trick was my first Concert too! As for this tune it's just a simply good Rock & Roll Song.

Their lesser-known songs are their best ones.
Cheap Trick was good stuff. I (sorta) saw them with Ratt and Poison. I called it the Cheap Ratt Poison concert. 😁
In the late 70's, saying that a girl was "tight" simply meant that she had her look together. It didn't mean anything beyond that.
Nope meant her internal downstairs was tight. Sorry to burst your bubble.
Oh you sweet little thing... it is definitely not about a nice girl with good fashion sense!
And yes.. at the concert we screamed SHE'S TIGHT!
If you get the chance, you have to see then in concert, and this happened to me, scariest call I ever got was from a 14 yr old freshman, I was a senior, who told me, " I'm home all alone"

This song brings back to one of my dumber moments with girls. Was around 14 and met a girl around 13, visiting a neighbor, that just blew my mind. So I dedicated the song to her, because at the time being "tight" was a compliment. It meant just like it means now, having it all together. What I was oblivious to at that age, was "tight" was also a reference to girls that didn't "put out." Which was far from a compliment for a teen boy to say to a teen girl at the time.
