    Hmm, common sense tells you right away it is A, but then you speak about the safety that it is the most important (TIP 3) and when you look back at the answers you can spot safety of passengers in C which can be tricky. Approaching to the platform is not at high speed so possible injuries are small, but still more people will be already standing up waiting to get out, so they can be more harmed than while seated. There is always the same thing with all tests - more you think, more you get confused, because analytical skills let us evolve to who we are now, but actually during tests it is always better to pick your first guess and depend on primitive instinct that let us survive. I read scientific paper about it.

    What I found difficult when I completed a trainee driver application is that lots of the questions were (obviously) entirely situational, and in some cases lacking context or further detail. And there wasn't always necessarily one correct answer. I'd say in customer service-based roles, the right answer is the one that avoids pulling you out of/ away from your assigned role, whilst simultaneously ensuring health and safety standards and procedures are upheld to the maximum. I'm not really sure which questions I failed on though so it's hard to judge. I also found a few of the questions were ones that didn't really apply to the role and responsibilities of a train driver and more that of someone with a lot of experience in directly customer facing roles e.g. ticket clerks, customer services staff. I sort of felt it was a bit unfair in that sense as it doesn't state that that prior experience is required in order to be suitable to apply. For context, I had no trouble completing these types of situational judgment questions when joining the police in the past.

    How fast is the train going in the first place, how long will ot take to stop. If you can not stop in time , why do a emergency stop , and possibly injure all the passengers. Not enough info in the question, to me a informed choice..... did it say blast the air horns any were. Incase its a young child collecting a ball , with there back turned to the train ,

    The question needs one more line. "You notice someone on the tracks ahead, who is closer then what normal braking procedures can stop within" and done... question now has an obvious "best" answer and none of this ambiguous stuff.

  • @Jackruby22
    @Jackruby22 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Tip1: The real opc sjt test doesn't give ANY scenerios that are based on the duties of a train driver or any mention of safety critical roles!

    Is it me or the answer the creator of this video gave as option (A) apply emergency brake before informing the control centre sounds wrong.. she also emphasised the importance of safety at the start of her video. Applying emergency break would cause more damage and harm to passengers on the train especially if it's multiple coaches... for the person to the on the track, he must be hurt or possibly not alive anyway due to possible electrocution from stepping on the tracks or maybe he fell on the tracks and uncouncious. It's really confusing trying to make a safe decision especially reading the scenario over again and trying to make my decision against the example the video creator gave as the right answer.

    Hi there, great vids, thanks for all the info. I've just submitted my application. I've been watching a lot of the videos you've done on becoming a train driver, got a couple of questions though.
    If I'm successful with the application, when do all these test and the interview take place? It all seems quite a lengthy process. So does it all take place in one day or are the tests and interview separate?
    I'm just worried about being able to attend at the times I'm required due to my current job. The company I work for at the moment make it hard work to get time off. I have to book all holidays in January for the coming year and I obviously don't want them to know I'm trying to get another job. So yeh just a bit concerned.
    Thanks.

      Doticaster all the assessments happen in one day, with the multi modal interview(mmi) happening on a separate day. Just pull a sickie, pass the test and then tell your current employer bye bye. Good luck.

    • @AssassinGreen
      @AssassinGreen 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@The-Randomest-Guy that just seems a bit underhand, on my recent trainee train driver application it says how many sick days have I had in the last year. Any company would appreciate reliability and that to me shows that you would advise people to not blink an eye to call in sick for their own gains. If they thought anything of you then surely they'd adapt.
