The story I had heard of this studio was that it was like a dozen or so of the most talented young developers from Tencent who decided to make their own studio and do their own thing. They showed the Wukong demo and it went insanely viral. They went on a huge hiring spree and reworked the game into something much bigger since then.
Yes, they can't accept the development mode of Tencent team, and they have always dreamed of making an open world game based on Chinese mythology novels. Therefore, they opened a studio together and released their first real-world demonstration in 2020 to recruit technicians. I think they have encountered difficulties in development. Fortunately, the recruitment is very smooth and it is 2023 now, the development is almost over, so it shows us this amazing demo clip. If the final game is not satisfactory, but a group of people with dreams try their best to work towards their dreams, it is an enviable thing in itself, isn't it-----This is my translation, sorry
Black Myth Wukong conducted large-scale offline tests in Hangzhou, China and Cologne, Germany in August this year, and relevant videos can be found on TH-cam.
Black Myth Wukong GOTY material if it can actually deliver the same quality throughout the game as we saw in the trailer. Same goes for Crimson Desert & Phantom Blade 0.
There has been tons of trailers and gameplay showcases of this game over the past few years. It's been one of my most anticipated games for like 3 years now so I'm super glad it's finally got a release date.
The devs have already had a Sun Wukong demo that many gaming content creators tried out and praised. It seems to be legit till now. I'm super pumped for this. It'll most probably be a souls-like though, which is not my favourite genre but I'll take a bet on this one.
Remember cyberpunk? Influential people played it, press folk played it, called it the greatest game ever made. Vertical slices are one thing, an entire video game is another.
@@jaydunna2645Completely different type of game, Cyberpunk was shit because of its open-world design. There’s literally hours of gameplay of BMW, all a whole year out from release. Cyberpunk wasn’t ever that impressive.

The reason why the game company has set 20 August as the trailer release date every year is because Chinese folk have been commemorating Wukong and building temples to him for centuries
I wonder if u will be sceptical if the studio was US, Europe or Japan based, the game was already available for testing session and testers who praised the game but my only concern is the performance & resolution on consoles since its unreal 5, so far, UE5 releases were disappointing, 4k@60 was supposed to be the standard but somehow 3p studios fail to deliver it ( in case of xbox even 1P studios uncapable )
Ever since Pearl Abyss became self published Black Desert Online has become considerably less monetized and considerably more consumer friendly and they've made a concerted effort to put their focus into developing single Player game. Like there's a huge chance Crimson desert may not fully live up to what it's seeming like. But I'm very sure that they're fully intending on delivering the best they can
This is actually their first game. It was a group of very talented Chinese developers who decided to quit working for Tencent to start their own company Game Science. They started with 6(?) people and slowly they started campaigning in search for talented developers. Their trailers were not to show how great the game is but to recruit talented developers, well and at the same time, the videos are made to show interested developers that they are for real looking to complete this ambitious project.
yeah I don't think Luke really has enough context here to be able to talk about this game. For example, he's worry of it being a fraud which is very understandable considering what's been happening in the western gaming space but it is not even remotely relevant with any Chinese games. Especially Black Myth if you know how and the reason why these Chinese developers started their own studio at the first place. With that being said, I do think it is very important to lower your expectations. It IS their first AAA game at the end, give them some time. If the first game sells well, who knows, maybe the sequels will be much better!
The production team had organized thousands of people to try out the game in China, including Cologne in Germany. It was a different game content, something most games had never done before
This will be my new favorite game of all time, I can just feel it. Chinese culture is the most beautiful culture of them all. And of course, I will marathon all Jackie Chan movies again, after playing this masterpiece.
I think this is a REAL passion project, I've been following this game for years, they started with unreal engine 4 and took the whole game back to start to develop it on UE5 which is a large reason why it's taken so long, some of my favourite new games are still being released on UE4 examples Survivor, Lies of P, I'm exceptionally excited for this game and some private TH-camrs who've waited 3 hours at an event have said the game play is tight it's a solid game, trust the visuals. I'm just very passionate about it myself and don't wish to be disappointed

Don't guess blindly, this is a large-scale game with a plot and tasks. It's not just about fighting bosses, but the difficulty is not low. It's not the soul game you're talking about. Game developers are optimizing the game and striving for RTx1660, which can also run the game smoothly. However, they recommend game configurations such as the 14th generation i7CPU and RTx4080 graphics card, so that you can run the game in an environment of 2160p 40 to 60 frames and get the clearest images.
As a big monkey king and Chinese mythology fan, I'm "cautiously" hyped for this game! I know, I know hype makes me stupid, but from what I've seen and heard so far, there isn't much that could really ruin the game for me. Unless of course the game comes out broken and looking nothing like everything we've been shown so far.
The level of care and the amount of cultural references in the trailer is really great. It's also not a western style trailer aimed to just get your wallet. The trailer has an insane amount of substance. I'm cautiously optimistic as well but I have a hard time believing that they put that much effort into the trailer but not the final product. Still, no preorder.
