Guess I gotta check the steering box on my 53 WD45 now. Whew boy!

That steering gearbox looks a lot tougher than one you’d find out of a Toyota Corolla🤣. It must’ve weighed 150lbs when it was all assembled, and that makeshift bearing press you had there is definitely something I’ll remember for future projects. Great work Jason!👍

I think it might weigh as much as a Toyota Corolla! I bet 150 lbs. is pretty conservative. That thing is way beyond heavy duty for what its doing.

I never would have guessed there was that many pieces inside the housing 😲..great video Jason! 🙂👍 Congrats on the 400 subs! 🥳🥳

Thanks Zane! I'm surprised sub rate still climbing even though views are way down. I think its a summer thing, I know I'm not watching near as much as I do in the winter.

Wow now that’s a bearing, definitely not a race car gearbox lol, and good old hydraulic bottle jacks to the rescue, used that method many times, the stearin gear looks like a lawn mower gear but 1000x bigger lol, great job as usual buddy 😎✌️

Who needs a press when you have that table, lol.

I've been looking for a "real" press for a long time, but can't find anything I like. This works just fine for the time being!

Coming along nicely. I had not heard of 250w. What did you use for grease?

    • @sparksfireandbalingwire8467

The 250 smells worse than 90 weight, if you believe that is possible, and unbelievably hard to clean off and get rid of. There are regular grease zerks for the top and bottom bearings anyway, so I just used regular old grease out of the grease gun on it. It should be fine since it's not going to be a "working" tractor anymore.

What state do you live in? I live by Owatonna Mn. I have the WD reverse loaded tractor you would like to see.

Rebuilding the steering box on a WD45…?
You mean cleaning, because there is no one man enough to have ever wore it out

Hey! I replaced the seal...... and the bearing I had to destroy to do it. But good point. Nobody is going to wear one of those out!
