I know you asked this a long time ago, but for anyone else who finds this comment, no you don't have to replace both at the same time. You can replace just 1, but it is much more complicated as they are stuck together in places by adhesive.

You dont need to heat my iPad mini 4. The chassis is bent so the screen is coming off. Pull And Lift, it’s that simple!
