    Great video... You can use clear packing tape over the screen to prevent the glass shards from flying up and it also holds the screen together when removing.

    Excellent video, the only concern I had was figuring out the home button flex cable connection, as I needed to replace mine. I just looked that up separately and had no issues. This was easy to follow, and now my brother's iPad is fixed. Took me about 2 hours and 45 minutes, a lot faster than I expected having never replaced a screen on anything before. It was a choice between $40 and have a working iPad for a few more years, or just don't use it anymore, so I fixed it!

    Great instructional video. I wasn’t sure if I could do this myself so I took my iPad to the Apple Store and they wanted $300. Tried another place they wanted almost as much. I ordered everything I needed from Amazon except the heat gun which I had. So for 10% or $30 I fixed it myself and I’m completely satisfied. Thanks for the instructional video…

    I damaged the lcd display! I tried to be careful but I guess I must have damaged it while trying to pry my very shattered screen off. Be careful about the lcd. I recommend getting the metal pry tool. My kit didn't come with one and it was too hard to get my screen off. I also recommend watching the end of the video before you start so you know exactly what the ipad looks like inside.

    Thanks for the video! For anyone reading this comment, the connection to the home button doesn't snap on like all the other connections so if you don't use the same home button connection like it's shown in this video be very careful when removing the cable and good luck using the new one. I pretty much screwed mine up. Would have appreciated a little more warning about that on this video.

    There is a little type of hinge mechanism holding the ribbon cable on, once I figured that out, it came off easily. I did the repair successfully but I will wear gloves the next time because gloves should help keep fingerprints of the backside of the screen. Thanks for the great video. I repaired it around Dec 4th and my kid dropped it down a flight of stairs and shattered it again. Very good video and many thanks. The replacement screen I bought came with a home button preinstalled.

    This video is very useful. I bought a new screen with has a new home button, from Amazon . I decided to keep the new screen's home button. I thought it would be easier. The home button cable is attached to a PULL OUT connector, NOT a LIFT UP connector like the other connectors surrounding it. I assumed wrong, and pulled the delicate female connection off the board. It was hidden behind a black sticker. I tried supergluing it (I don't have a soldering iron or microscope ) but it keeps popping off. The screen works fine, except I've lost the home key function.

    Thanx for a great tutorial. Instead of paying about 187$ (1700 swedish krona) it now only cost me about 55$ (500 swedish krona). I hade som issues though with the home button. It fall apart in three pieces. The button itself, a black round bracket and a rubberbracket. That made me carefully disconnect the the home button cable from the connector. Then it was easier for me to work only having my new screen and the home button to think ablut. When connect the homebutton to the new screen I had to remove the black round bracket othervise i got to high on the screen i bought and I was not able to klick the button. I also struggled a bit getting the cabels in the slot when attach the new screen. The cables on the side (digitizer?) of my screen seemed to be a little bit bigger then on the screen in this video, but after a while I got it in place. (I will not mension that I missed to remove the protective film on the inside of the screen so I had to open it up remove the film and attach it again :-D) In all I think it have taken me two - Three hours. 45 minutes to remove the broken screen, one hour to understand how the "fallen apart" home button should put together to the new screen, 45 minutes to get the screen on place and 30 minutes to open it up remove the protective film and put the screen on place again. Someone asked about heat gun temperature and I had mine set to medium heat.

    Hi, great video. I'm having a Ghost touching issue, it looks like the repair shop used a cheap replacement with little or no insulation so something is causing it to short against the frame, either the home button cable or the LCD cable and other areas that wasn't insulated properly, I'm also seeing bubbles on the inside of the screen, so Im guessing they never removed the protective film and the heat is causing the bubbles. If that is the case, would that also be whats contributing to the problem along with (possibly) torn flex cables that are touching the frame? Thx

      Best is to ask the repair shop to redo the repair. Or you can get a new digitizer screen and DIY. Pretty much you nailed it on the issues. About the ghost touching, I would cover up the sensor on the back of digitizer

    If I have to use 3rd party home button. Can I make the touch work? Such as reset fingerprint?

    • @UbergeeksBiz
      @UbergeeksBiz  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      No. 3rd party home button will no register with the iPad.

    Some of the reviews for this don't make sense. This th-cam.com/users/postUgkxUGaHtKW8MwCql2fPyIm9-ftTqSMzKFFA works as well as any power strip I've used. Plug in what you need, be sensible about it & keep it movin' The construction is plastic but it's a sturdy piece. It has a single toggle switch & the swivel jacks are useful as well. Plugged in next to Tripp Lite Isobar takes some of these reviews with a pinch of sumthin' - does what it says & functions properly.Had for about a month. Perfect no complaints will update if anything changes.

    Why not clean up the old tape residue?? Now you've got double layers of tape, isn't that to thick to fit the screen nice and flat with the frame??

    Once you remove the screen there is a some type of sensor/antena in the top right corner. Do you know what that is?

    • @UbergeeksBiz
      @UbergeeksBiz  ปีที่แล้ว

      Top would be for data service antenna. Like your SIM card to catch cell tower data signal

      @@UbergeeksBiz My Ipad don't have SIM slot, so I'm not sure that is it. At 11:30 of the video is possible to see the little square that i'm talk about. The sensor/antenna is cover with foam tape.

      @@Paulo0pinto0elec Isn't that the rear camera ? I'm guessing is just sticky foam from having the rear camera back banging the glass or touching digitizer sensor.
