A lovely place to visit. We also love the church and the town of Framingham. We usually rally nearby in January but it was cancelled in 2021. It’s great to walk the castle walls and take in the amazing views of the town and Brandeston School across the water 😃 Trev

Yes rallying, just been reading the new Rallying regs from the Club . Won't be the same for a while will it. Thanks for watching.

@@helenandmartinsTreks over the years we have done more than 350 rallies, starting in 1984. For that reason only, we have chosen not to rally as often and find other alternatives. Motorhoming offers so many options if you have the time to research and look deeper. Whilst working, we found rallying a cheap, safe and friendly option for our family with the caravan 🙂

@@PoshcatsCamping I agree , we did some rallies previously in Yorkshire , but have spent more time in Europe since. We re-engaged recently as a way of exploring our new area and meet some local people. That said given the reduced numbers on sites we have decided not to book in yet to allow the regulars the space. We'll look again next year.

At Framlingham, up on the battlements walls, my legs were feeling a little wobbly on the inside. The fear of heights.

      Thanks.
At a spectacular 10.5 metres high and 2.3 metres thick, this curtain wall has stood for more than 800 years - look down if you dare… The castle's curtain wall has been carefully conserved so that future generations are able to enjoy spectacular views of Framlingham mere and surrounding countryside.

Framlingham Castle is a castle in the market town of Framlingham in Suffolk in England. An early motte and bailey or ringwork Norman castle was built on the Framlingham site by 1148, but this was destroyed (slighted) by Henry II of England in the aftermath of the Revolt of 1173-1174. Its replacement, constructed by Roger Bigod, the Earl of Norfolk, was unusual for the time in having no central keep, but instead using a curtain wall with thirteen mural towers to defend the centre of the castle. Despite this, the castle was successfully taken by King John in 1216 after a short siege. By the end of the 13th century, Framlingham had become a luxurious home, surrounded by extensive parkland used for hunting.
