Limiting mindset considering these are things classic devs wish they could have done. Technology evolved, and pixel art is still as cool as it ever was. If you give an artist tools, they are going to use them. No reason to stagnate. If it looks good, I say do it. Side note, freedom planet 2 is basically sonic the hedgehog.
Steel Assault is gorgeous. I remember seeing Pepper Grinder a while ago in another one of your videos, still looks innovative and interesting. Solid list as usual man.

There are so many amazing upcoming Indy games. There is never a need to buy over priced AAA games filled with macro transactions and pay to play BS ever again with so many of these amazing games.

Might have said this already, but Panzer Paladin looks amazing. Looks like a mix of Blaster Master and Astyanax. Lots of great looking titles in this list. The pixel art got me drooling :P
@@ClemmyGames well definitely the first few you mentioned in this video...but basically any of these indie games that are action platformers, to action RPG's especially those with the throwback graphics 2-D games you have highlighted ALOT of great looking games I'm just not good with remembering all the names but I see Alot are either still in development or looking for a publisher but like you've said "anything like Shovel-Knight is a game worth playing!!" Totally agree I use to have Shovel Knight on my 3ds and I got through the main game and like 3 of the add on storylines I missed the very last game that has came out...and I thought that was really cool, I downloaded that game and those add ons to play as different enemy characters and play as their storyline was a really cool idea it definitely gave you your money's worth!!

I have a completely random, unbiased feeling that this upcoming game called Speed Limit might be right up your alley, perhaps even worthy of consideration for being featured in a similar video in the future. 😊 Ok but seriously, there's another super promising pixel art game that's worth a shoutout here - check out Boot Hill Bounties, a JRPG-western hybrid with a dash of Stardew Valley and a whole lot of excellent writing - been having a blast with the prerelease version on the Switch this week.
I love seeing those hi-bit art styles in this space, not so much the hyper minimalist stuff anymore. So I'm thrilled to see guys like Henk Neiborg coming back with new titles like Tiny Thor to show people how it's done :D I knew about Battle Axe - and tossed some cash at it in Kickstarter - but didn't know about that one at all. Man that dude must be busy these days, lol. Games like Freedom Planet 2, Kaze and the Wild Masks*, Panzer Paladin, Bushiden and Moon Rider all look great too. Huntdown also has a pitch-perfect trailer too; if games had trailers in the early 80's along with movies, that would've fit right in. I can't believe the narrator delivered the line, "Make a healthy living by making living.... _UNhealthy"_ with a straight face :D That's awesome. *A lot* of these seem to be pushing way better pixel art than most of those hyper-minimalist indie games of the last few years, and I'm super thankful for that. Awesome job once again finding a killer selection of games to show off! * - btw, are you sure it's not pronounced like "Kah-zay" instead of "Cayze?" I definitely could be wrong. I mean, I can't recall hearing anyone _say_ it in a trailer or anything :P But kaze is the Japanese word for "wind," like in Kamikaze, and it seems like maybe they're going for an evocative thing there - that bunny sure moves quickly _("like the wind"_ some might say...), and can hover and stuff. I guess I just feel like its spelled specifically like that to use that pronunciation... but darnit I really don't think there's a trailer where the name is spoken, lol

Wow! What a great video. I didn't realise that Cyber Shadow was going to be level based. I'm a little disappointed by that but the game will be fantastic because Yacht Club is involved, and the pixel art is some of the best I've seen. Never head of Bones N Bullets so that's going on the list. Steel Assault I totally forgot but I'll keep it on my radar. Moonrider looks even better than Blazing Chrome! Also, is Beard Blade based on the life of Jirard the Completionist? Lol

So much tired of metroidvania indie games, there are just too many of them, Blashpemous, axiom verge , the messenger, dead cells, hollow knight, the list goes on, I am actually super happy that cyber shadow won’t be a metroidvania.

I believe Huntdown has a new publisher (Coffee Stain Studios) so fingers crossed it’ll release someday. I mean it’s been 3 years since I tried it for the first time and not much has been heard for the devs in a long time.

I just rewatched this video in September 2021 and it's sad how most of these games still aren't out and don't even have a release date listed...Oh well, I guess that's pretty typical with indie games. Hope they come out soon!

It's Kaaassseeee, it's japanese and means 'Wind" it's not English so it's definitely not simply Kaze the way you said it. Panzer Paladin looks amazing glad you put that one on my radar. Action Platformers are better than Metroidvanias anyways as a Metroidvania is just an action platformer with 66 years of backtracking.
I have a weird thing where I will dismiss a game if I don't like the main character design. Take Lazr for instance - that game looks pretty amazing, but the pink man as a main character is so uninspiring.

Action Platformers are better than Metroidvanias anyways as a Metroidvania is just an action platformer with 66 years of backtracking.

I wish they didn't cheap out with Panzer Paladin and went the 16bit route instead of 8bit. Their mech and character designs deserved it
a 16 bit look would have been sweet, wouldn't call it "cheap out" though
I have a weird thing where I will dismiss a game if I don't like the main character design. Take Lazr for instance - that game looks pretty amazing, but the pink man as a main character is so uninspiring.
