Thank you rik & pauline for your brilliant video and what a superb model shop wish it was in the centre of wigan I will be visiting the shop soon regards kevin😊
Stuart has a loco with Pauline's name written on it. Its a conversion to make a double ended Blue Pullman single car unit and is Bachman motorised. Great video and a very nice shop .A welcoming owner. Seeing the O Gauge MPD layout is well worth the visit .
Hi Garth, sounds ideal but we are both banned from spending for a while as we have bought a few locos in the past couple of weeks and 2 are blue. Great shop and owner and I'm sure you will join me in wishing him all the best. Cheers Rick
@@wellchuffedrailways We do wish him well. I am just a little worried of the location as the small shopping centre where it is situated resembled a ghost town when we went which on a Thursday .Having chatted with Stuart ,his trade relies on word of mouth and customer retention and so doesnt rely on foot flow as such .
Hi there. O WOW so much to see I sure did get in to this one a lot !!!! Just great of a video mate and I do think your sound is better now ?. Did you get a now mick for you :). But ok off I am and have a great weekend!!!!! Cheers mate :).
Hi Brad, we have had the mics for a few year but I upgraded the editing software a while back. It gives me more freedom to optimise the sound levels and its money well spent. We also got a new camera a month ago which has slightly better video quality. All the best and have a great weekend. Rick
What a cracking shop. I will have to have a trip there. It's a shame there aren't more shops like these, my local one Transport Models shut down just before COVID. Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Hi thanks for your comment, the fact that so many shops are closing is one of the reasons we are doing this series of videos. The smaller shops get so little publicity compared to the bigger stores and they have so much to offer. Thanks for watching Rick
Another brilliant episode it a great series. They do pack a lot in there. You have a great knack for interviews, too... ask a question and let the keeper answer uninterrupted. Nicely done!
Thanks Anthony, we do enjoy these videos. I get what you are saying about the interviews, it's far more interesting to let people tell their own story. All the best Rick
Rick you are so lucky up there to have some great model shops with old values. It’s good to know he’s doing well without online sales it’s refreshing to be honest mate 😊 All the best to you ,Pauline ,and the two little rascals Mark 😊😊
What a brilliant shop, it has everything. Sadly, shops like this in my area have all shut with the passing of their owners, and the younger age doesn't seem to want to delve into this market.
we bought the Liam wagon with 3 beer barrels on and a Hornby LWB, we did intend to show them being purchased but as you can tell the sound at the end of the video was very poor so i opted not to use it. Cheers Rick
My dad serviced the Swordfish that hit the Bismark's rudder - the Tirpitz was destroyed by Lancasters with massive 10,000lb bombs in 1944. Wow, I think I saw a Corgi VW Corrado in dragon green which means its a Storm edition like my real black one only not as rare (mine is the only black Storm spec Corrado ever from VW, apperently). Thats a rare thing... I would pay mucho dinero for one of those... Choppers! Hah - I had a red Grifter, better bike because it didnt geld you if you stopped quickly. I could spend a happy day digging through those boxes for Crimson and Cream rakes, vans and coal wagons. A proper model shop, that....
Wow your dad must have had some stories to tell! Loved the Corrado and remember the road tests when it came out pitching it against the 944. The only criticism the testers made was the styling, well they got that wrong and I always loved it's squatness , kind of like a Alfa SZ in some ways. Anyway they are great cars. Give the seller a bell and get him to send you the green one. Thanks for watching Rick PS I had a Grifter.
I would love to support my local model shop Few problems From my point of view whenever I find a local model shop in a town somewhere they’re always charging top price nearly always full list price and their pricing themselves out of the market in some cases I don’t always agree with the Internet is better but I’m not gonna pay more if I do not have to I would’ve thought from a local independent model shops point of view it would make more sense to get more throughput more sales at a tiny bit little less profit margin keep the shop running. Keep people coming through keep selling and sit there with stock on the shelves at full price and hope once in a while someone with a very deep wallet comes in this is my experience with local model shops around Lincolnshire where I live and when I’m holidaying? I have also seen the same problems in shops in York and Scarborough but great video I wish I had a shop like this local to me
Hi Rob, the problem for the smaller shops is that they don't have the buying power of the larger more well known retailers so they end up paying more to buy stock. Glad you enjoyed the video, cheers Rick
Please consider that not all viewers are local and might not be familiar with the area. "Ashton-in-Makerfield is known as historically a part of Lancashire and a town in the borough of Wigan and it is located approximately 4 miles south of Wigan Town centre" 😀
29:50 Rick says "our friend Danny loves novelty wagons", Yeah Right🥸🤣, people believe me rick's humor is very ironic here, as I hate them. And it's not the wagons on them selfs, or people buying them, everyone's free to buy and like what he or she wants, I got all respect for that. It's the way they are sold, obviously fathers day or Beatle fan wagons, you know it when you see them. But there are wagons and Dapol is king in that, that have company names on them that could have existed for real, but didn't. And here is my issue with them, personally for my collection it must have existed for real, or I see them as a waist of my money. And often it becomes very confusing, if the producer would only mention on the box novelty or a sign to identify it as such, I got no issue with them at all. But one thing that is good about it, each time Rick sees a novelty wagon, he thinks of me.🤣🤣🤣 Great video and a big credit to Rick & Pauline to make them… Cheers, Danny
I knew you would appreciate that Danny, in fact we may go so far to call wagons with fake company names Danny specials from now on. 😂😂 Thanks as always Rick and Pauline

Entertaining and informative as ever, what I’ll do with the info I haven’t a clue! Keep up the good work of highlighting the independent shops.
Thanks very much Martin, I'm sure you will find a use for the info. 😀
Absolutely brilliant again, what you buy eh what you buy. All the best.
Cheers Gary, all will be revealed in the next vlog.
A good, friendly model shop!! Probably in a great location for you, but not me!! I haven’t been anywhere north of Watford Gap for many years.

My local model shop is K&S Models in Hertfordshire. I also have a mate who runs a nice model shop. I go to Chelmsford more than to K&S!!
Well that’s pretty impressive
Cheers Nick
I live in Ashton-in-Makerfield and I go to that model shop.
What a brilliant shop, it has everything. Sadly, shops like this in my area have all shut with the passing of their owners, and the younger age doesn't seem to want to delve into this market.
Hi Malcolm, unfortunately there is less of everything these days. All the best Rick
Could we start to see what you have brought at the end of these style of videos ?
we bought the Liam wagon with 3 beer barrels on and a Hornby LWB, we did intend to show them being purchased but as you can tell the sound at the end of the video was very poor so i opted not to use it. Cheers Rick

2 wagons, the Lima Watneys and a Hornby LWB open wagon. All the best Rick

Wow, that's a supermarket 🤣🤣
A veritable ALDI!
Ashton Model Centre. Not Wigan. The clue's in the name.
