I was born and raised in NYC. Grew up near the Village and went to school on West 10th street in the 1960's. That park was so empty at the time, and we had so much fun without all those people and all that hubbub. We sat around the fountain and on the benches, never on the grass. We had "beatniks" in the 1950's and 60's. Handmade jewelry was sold in the streets. West 8th street had a bunch of awesome small shops that closed down over the years. No scaffolding or bags of garbage lining the NY streets back then. Left for California in 1975 when I was 25. Nothing left to miss about New York because like Neil Diamond song says, "LA's fine but it ain't home, NY's home but it ain't mine no more."

You almost passed the second childhood toy store would have love to see that again. Always bought my Takara Microman toys from there. An elderly gentleman owned the store he was always so nice to me and customers loved him and his toy store. It always sit at the window in the back of his cash register where he had a beautiful display of toys and wooden horse 🐎

When Bob Dylan walked on Jones street with his girlfriend and became the iconic photo on his album, a tour guide wouldn't have passed by that very moment as it was being shot saying "and this is where Bob Dylan's Freewheelin' cover art is being made".

53:30 The Jane hotel also used to have a theater on the ground level called the Jane Street theater - I saw "Tick Tick Boom" there in 2001 - sadly it's not a theater anymore, it's been converted into the hotel ballroom
