Thanks for this info. I will include this in the next updated version of the video. Since BWF doesnt release an official list of the fastest smashes, it is hard find all the smashes.
man this is proof that racket dont make you have a stronger smash. the 500kmph is absurd with the z strike. being one of the older models of rackets now. even the nanoflare meant to be the new king for smash speeds. im now curious as players progress in technique if they can achieve consistent 419kmph in the future
I think the way they measure changed. Previously they would check for speed when the shuttle hit the court(I guess) and now it’s right when the shuttle leaves the racket.
@@srikanthprabhu3201 I think so too. BTW. I believe all these "speed" does not mean much. It is entirely possible there are higher speed smash that was returned. Does it mean it doesn't count?
Yeah the results are incomparable to the previous measurement system which was already incomparable with the old radar system. I'd bet Fu actually smashed harder than any of these players in his prime, but we'll never know thanks to different systems being used. It's also in the bwf's interest to not go back to old systems, as it would show that most of the perceived speed increase over the years comes from the measurement systems changing, not actually players or rackets getting that much better - and that wouldn't be the story that equipment manufacturers' ads tell :D
The world’s fastest smash achieved with a Yonex Duora Z-Strike, a racket that’s been around for over 6 years. What does that say about racket technology since then? Perhaps it’s the string technology that’s the real powerhouse???
Players like kento momota used the doura z strike 2u or tan boon heong with the nanoray z speed 2u in the past but there is rarely anyone use any type of 2u racket nowaday.A heavier and stiffer racket can smash harder and faster logically but also easier to get injuries and tiredness. And with the overtense of pro badminton nowaday,a hard racket isnt as important as it was before.Athlete need to be in good conditions games after games, tournament after tournament, not just giving it all out in one game or two. That why you can see the majority of athletes uses the yonex arcsaber 11 pro which is a neutral racket.Easy to use, hard to get injury or tiredness.Bests of the world like zheng si wei even use the 4u version of the 11 pro which is just super easy to use even for amateur
Indo and malay people can't even comprehend that satwiksairaj hit 500 in an actual match, I don't blame them cause our poor friends have been watching their weak players smash for decades and when someone like rankireddy with pure raw strength suddenly shows up, it's only self explainable and obvious how they would react. Don't blame them, poor souls. God bless (if the dude really exists) Hare krishna Jai shree ram Greetings
I'm Indonesian, and i'm not against your opinion. actually in my observation. That Indonesians player don't produce a heavy smash players, but they more into agility and light speed players. Dunno, maybe my opinion is biased. So, we all have our trademark skills are we?
@@azzamelzahidin5047smash and wrist work is speciality of Indian players. But ya good flat game and deception can be called Indonesian specialty as of now.

its the perspective, from a vertical view of the court the shuttles displacement seems pretty short thus making the shuttle look not that fast, horizontal view would be much sensible.
speed depend on how far shuttle travels, smashing backcourt to backcourt is gonna give lower end speed compared to mid court to front court smash e.g. the LKY smash
Top players have great technique and often put everything they have into the smash. If Rankireddy cannot even get close to 500 again during matches then I really question the accuracy of those speed meters. How accurate can they really be?
@@harshpalani That's in a controlled environment very different from real play. Also heavily Yonex biased/sponsored. Who knows what kind of strings/tensions they were using or what kind of doping they took. Just like TBH's 493 record, nothing in real matches comes close. Having one single outlier of 500kmh while basically all other smashes including his are measured around ~400 just goes to show how unreliable the measurements are.

very fast as well proof that racket dont make a crazy fast smash.
Today's Asian game, China vs India, I feel chirag and satvik smashes are more then first two you show
I guess BWF uses new equipment and techniques this June, making it more accurate to detect the speed before it diminishes.

As I've read, the fastest smash under test conditions is 565 kph by Satvik Reddy. It was 494 kph by a Malaysian before that record.

So many videos around 420, then suddenly 500?! Something must have changed in the way the speed is measured.
The same player has the world record of 565km/hr at the Yonex Factory. So, it's most likely true.
There is a huge difference between the first and the second. Both of them are Indians. To me, it's a surprise.
