  • It's a treasure trove of classic White Dwarf magazines, ranging from the mid-1980s to the mid-2000s (and beyond). What arcane Warhammer lore and vintage gaming materials might we uncover? #WhiteDwarf #Oldhammer #Warhammer40k

We found some really old school ones from the 80s and they were mostly D&D suppliments and RPG settings for DM's. Cool stuff.

Recognised a lot of these from growing up, I really hope they're surviving in my parents loft space still. Thank you for this vide, brought back a lot of memories. Favourite WH channel

I liked the old WD back when they had card terrain inserts. I had the gorkamorka tower and the sister's ruined cathedral. There was also barricades, turn counters, data cards, terrain tutorials... It felt like a game supplement instead of a collection of ads for gw

6:03 - Back in 1992, the Vehicle Manual came with a clear plastic overleaf sheet with a large crosshairs and an X/Y axis. You placed the plastic sheet over the vehicle diagram (e.g., like the ones in that White Dwarf) with the crosshairs where you wished to hit. Then you rolled 2D6 twice; once for the X axis, once for the Y axis. The result of your numbers rolled is where the shot actually hit, but you can shift it up/down based on your Ballistic Skill. Thus, a perfect hit would be to roll '7' twice, but you could shift it over based on how skilled your shooter was.

Fun but tedious for large games

WD71 with the Dragon Warriors cover art! I did enjoy that game at the time. I feel like my group were probably the only ones who did!
A great publication in its day, prior to only dealing with GW rules and products. Good to know where games shops were, pre internet.

Those hit location diagrams date back to the Rogue Trader days. There eas a vehicle supplement that had an insert with a clear plastic sheet with a crosshair on it. When yiu shot at a vehicle you would lay the cross hairs on the location you wanted to hit then you wouls roll for scatter. You would move the crosshairs based on the die roll. If the cross hairs ended up on a vehicle location you hit. If it drifted off the vehicle you missed. You had to do that for each shot. It was very fiddly.

I sold a pile of these last year. The sad thing about WD is that there was a long run of essentially a booklet of advertisements for GW with very little gaming content.

The magazines were packed separately but shipped in a larger box with other stuff, so it probably didn’t qualify for a special rate.
