"Give Peace A Chance" - He sang about Peace and harmony, yet died violently. Forty years later there is even more turmoil. SHAME on all of us.

@Prof81Wil Leading up to his death, he had been making attempts to reconcile with his son and visiting his family back home that he hadn't seen in a long time. Both his ex-wife Cynthia and first son Julian have since forgiven and stated they still love him, as well as the fact that he loved Yoko and even took years off his career to raise his second son. People always like to glimpse over the entire story, he truly did find peace, or at least was making the genuine effort.

Yes, you have to react to The Beatles. Each album was different due to their evolution as a group and each member's growth as individual songwriters. So so many songs to choose from. Hey Jude, Let it Be, Revolution, Back in the USSR, Penny Lane, The Long and Winding Road and Come Together are just a few of a long, long list of memorable songs. Can't wait to hear your first reaction to them.

I love John' solo career, but the beatles music is just gold. Lennon and Mccartney were incredible together. So many great songs. So many different styles to their music. The melodies that mccartney wrote were amazing and lennon's too. I feel that paul wrote some of the most beautiful melodies of all time and lennon's songs seem to have a little more edge to them. The combo was magic. Their collaboration was just brilliant. My favorite group of all time.

The FIRST thing you should do, to get some background on the Beatles, is Google "The Beatles" and read about them. This will give you some understanding of why they became the most influential, iconic band in the world. You have to understand that, from their first commercial success in 1963 until they broke up in 1970, they evolved from being a straightforward but very good - pop band, to creators of much more in - depth music. One of their first pop songs, which is a good example of their early style, is "I Saw Her Standing There".

You are a smooth and intelligent baller, my bruh! And tbh every Beatles song is amazing in itself (they have 27 #1 hits and 1 billion+ sold records). They have their earlier phase with more pop songs, later more rock and always experimental! "Let It Be" is always a good start! Live versions are fine and good but always try to listen the studio versions first!

Yes, everyone should listen to the Beatles. It's a long and deep journey. They are the source. And to listen and watch them grow through the 60s and into the 70s is a window into one of the most important evolutionary times of humankind. John Lennon was almost a prophet, if I dare to say, and his music in the Beatles and his solo music will literally change you.

The Beatles started it all, in my opinion. You have a huge catalog to choose from. Early stuff: She Loves You, I Want to Hold Your Hand, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Eight Days a Week + so many more. Middle stuff: In My Life, You Won't See Me, Eleanor Rigby, Got To Get You Into My Life, Here, There and Everywhere + so many more. Right before their breaking up stuff: Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds, Something, Oh Darling, You Never Give me Your Money medley, While My Guitar Gently Weeps, Glass Onion, Back in the USSR, Helter Skelter, Let it Be, I've Got a Feeling, The Long and Winding Road + so many more.

If you are going to dive into The Beatles some good info to know, thier music evolved drastically throughout the short time they were around. I have taken the liberty to list some songs below into 3 sections that really capture how they evolved.
    • Eight Days A Week
    • She Loves You
    • A Hard Days Night
    • In my Life
    • Eleanor Rigby
    • Got to Get you Into my Life
    • All You Need is Love
    • Strawberry Fields
    • A Day in the Life
    • Hey Jude
    • Let it Be
My personal favorites from each section are Eight Days a Week, In My Life, and A Day in the Life. You can really see how much more mature and evolved they became from those 3 songs. So much of them to listen to. Hope you dive into thier catalog some. Not too many reactions of thier songs.

they wrote songs that fit every situation, songs that can be sung on every occassion they were once considered the pop equivalent to classical composers of the past. They wrote over 300 songs between them. they were / are role models for every age, they never took advantage of their fans. They respected everyone. No scandals they were all gentlemen.
They were the first to do concerts for the poor, the weak and the hungry, it was Bangladest, others followed be it rock concerts or comedy they were first to raise money for other countries.

There are those out there preaching hate and intolerance and while most of us shun those individuals and completely tune them out others dial right in and keep their messages of inequality and division alive. Humans that are black, brown, white, olive, etc., have so very much more in common than their skin tone and we need to focus on what makes us similar rather than what makes us different. I have so much more in common with you than any foreigner who happens to share my same reduced level of melanin. Thank you for keeping an open mind and heart. Yet they sold more records than anyone. You are an old soul. You were born in the wrong era. Remember they made records in the 60's. No auto tune.

They recorded for 8 years as a group. John met Paul on July 6, 1957 when he was 16 and Paul had just turned 15. Soon after George joined, so they were a group for more than 8 years. First hit song was "Love Me Do" which went to #17 on the UK charts, their follow up song "Please Please Me was their first #1.

The Beatles had written in their contracts that they WOULD NOT perform at segregated crowds. They were a class act. They were only challenged once here in America and after some swear words they refused to play...the promoter backed down when he saw they were ready to walk out leaving him the unpleasant chore of refunding the ticket sales.

Some other good Lennon songs are, “Watching the Wheels”, “Happy Xmas”, “Mind Games” and “Instant Karma.”

Great comments & reaction Mr No Limit Twon. If you simply connect to peoples hearts you don't get caught up in superficial differences. The Beatles, before and after , had so many brilliant songs like this from Lennon. Since you liked the wording of this, try some of George Harrison's songs , With in you With out you, All Things Must Pass, the acoustic version of While my Guitar Gently Weeps etc., Paul McCartney's Mother Natures Son. The live version of All you Need is Love you'll like for the mix in the audience apart from the words, at a previous time when there was divides.
