The match, held at Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando, Florida, saw Orlando City dominate, clinching a 6-1 aggregate win and advancing to the Round of 16 to face Tigres. This triumph not only marked Orlando City's first-ever home victory in the Champions Cup but also their inaugural series win in the competition.
Despite Cavalry's loss, they etched their name in history by netting their maiden Champions Cup goal, courtesy of Myer Bevan in the second half.
Orlando City asserted control in the early stages, while Cavalry gained momentum midway through the first half, narrowly missing a scoring opportunity when Charles Trafford's header off a corner kick sailed wide in the 27th minute.
Luis Muriel, making his debut for Orlando City, showcased his talent with two goal-scoring chances in the opening 45 minutes. Muriel's impactful performance continued as he orchestrated the opening goal in the 49th minute, assisting Nicolas Lodeiro, another recent addition to Orlando City, who calmly found the net for a 1-0 lead.
Cavalry remained resilient, and their efforts paid off in the 64th minute when William Akio delivered a pass from the left wing, setting up Bevan to secure their historic goal and level the score at 1-1.
