Personal Hotspot Not Working On iPhone? Here's The Fix!

- Two Apple experts explain what to do when Personal Hotspot is not working on your iPhone.
First, make sure that your cell phone plan includes mobile hotspot. Carriers have the ability to turn off Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, in which case it may not show up in the Settings app. If Personal Hotspot is grayed out on your iPhone, Airplane mode is probably turned on.
Next, check for a carrier settings update and an iOS update. Apple and your wireless carrier regularly release these updates to fix software problems on your iPhone.
To rule out a problem with the Cellular settings on your iPhone, Reset Network Settings.
If mobile hotspot still is not working on your iPhone, put it in DFU mode and restore. This will completely rule out the possibility of a software problem.

You have to stay in the hotspot until your WiFi is connected (it will show up only if you are in the personal hotspot page)

My plan doesn't include pers hotspot, but it still works. Is this unusual? Used it for a month and its still works.
Airplane mode?? Lol who wouldn’t notice that airplane mode is on? You wouldn’t even be able to make calls if that was on haha

My problem and I can bet a lot other problems are that when you try to connect to a ps3/4 or a xbox360/1 it will connect and then disconnect not letting me play it will fail internet connection.
Mine says ip adress failed on the PS4 when I try to connect

I was also like this, but I went to “cellular” - “Cellular Data Network” - Scroll down till you see the “Personal Hotspot” then add Username (it’s up to u) and Password. Then go back to settings and the Personal Hotspot will appear under the “ Cellular”. Hope it helps you :)

I've been looking everywhere to fix this. My new second-hand iPhone 7 wouldn't allow anything to connect to the hotspot even though I was using the same sim card from my last phone. The second-last method (resetting network settings) actually worked thank you so much this is amazing. I thought I tried everything but this came in clutch

Connect though Bluetooth on your phone to your iPad or something and your hotspot will work
so ... I had the same problem with my new iphone. I tried reset network etc, didn't work.
I googled for a guide in my local language, and turns out the problem was that I had to fill in my APN, and each providrr has different APN.
now it works :)

This was real helpful, I thought Personal hotspot was disabled on my phone, only to find that my network carrier was not supporting. It was only after I changed SIM cards that the setting popped up.

Thanks a lot guys. For some reason, perhaps software update? Anyway the personal hotspot suddenly stopped working and was no longer discoverable. When I did the ‘reset network’, it started working! 👍🏾

How do you reset network?
The problem is not in the donor iPhone، it is in the taker device , fix it by opening network preferences of the taker device > then unmark (automatically join this network ) for all networks you could join (including your donor iPhone network) then > re-mark them again starting with the network of your donor iPhone , and continue then for other known network .... i did it like that .

I've had issues with my Hot spot and my data. My data won't work if my hot spot is turned on. So I found the settings (RESET NETWORK SETTINGS) mind you at this point don't forget I'm on an Android and it asks for a pin so I put that in and it clears the WiFi, mobile Data and Bluetooth settings and I think its fixed I'm testing it out seems to be working with my hot spot on and my data is now working

Great video! Fixed the problem on my phone!! For me, though, I had to do a hard reset after I reset network settings. Maybe just a simple turn off / turn on would have worked too. Anyway, after I did the hard reset, “personal hotspot” was on my phone. Thanks.
Just remember this iPhone does updates for a reason to ruin your phone when it’s Working perfectly fine to make you buy the latest and greatest
Justin Angelle this is what happened in my Iphone X after the updates. My hotspot was perfectly fine before the update.

Just got the iPhone se 2nd gen and cannot get the personal hotspot to work. The guy who activated my phone, had a lot of trouble just getting the phone to activate. He had to put in like 3 different SIM cards and it took him over an hour to get it to finally work. I think he may have given me a bad SIM card and that makes me so angry cuz I’ve only had the phone for two days. Any advice ??

Choosing forget network on computer. Then when I went to reconnect to it - it finally asked for the password again (which I changed), now that I was able to put it in - it worked

Thanks, for the video! But, unfortunately, you didn't address the problem I'm having with my new iPhone 11. I'm having a problem where the hotspot is turned on and I can connect with one tablet, but another tablet won't connect to it - because, it doesn't even show up in the list of WiFi networks available. And, the problem could manifest itself on either tablet, or both, at any time randomly.
You see, I'm an Uber driver and I have two tablets in my car - one in the front for my use and the other in the back seat area for my riders to use. I have Spotify set up on both tablets, so my riders can change the music during their ride and I can change it to my choice of music when I have no riders who want to listen to something other than my music. When both tablets are connected to the hotspot this works GREAT! And, with my iPhone 6s, this worked fine. But, I recently upgraded to an iPhone 11 and the problems started.
I've gone through ALL of your suggested fixes and still have a random intermittent problem. Sometimes, the tablet in the back seat area will spontaneously disconnect from the iPhone's hotspot and sometimes the tablet in the front will spontaneously disconnect from the hotspot. Sometimes, I can see the iPhone hotspot as an available wireless network on either tablet, but not the other. Sometimes, I can get the first tablet - either front or back - connected, but by the time I get to the WiFi settings for the other one, the iPhone hotspot no longer appears as an available network, even though the first tablet is still connected. But, to complicate matters further, sometimes, it works exactly as you would expect it to work and both tablets connect to the hotspot and stay connected!
My local Verizon store is completely befuddled - because, they tried all the fixes you suggested, too, but I still have this problem. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have the same problem with iPhone 11 but the issue of appearance when one device is connected ve found that when you go to the hotspot setting window , the hotspot is visible on other device ,so after connecting another device you can continue to home screen or any other app you were in to, i take this as a security feature, but it is annoying when it turns off randomly, or when not in active use, or sometimes you see it visible but can not connect, or sometimes you turn it on and not visible 🙆🏿♀️

My phone was telling me I was connected but I wasn't really getting any connection. I changed the access password of the Hotspot and it worked back again. It seems like the password wasn't supporting certain alphanumeric symbols properly maybe this is your case too.

After I updated my phone and as i checked one the ‘About’ interface or section, i noticed that i got 60GB of storage remaining. Where before I updated i got 92GB of remaining storage.

Hi guys can you do a clip on how to fix wifi. Since the new upgrades to ISO13 wifi only works sometimes. Tired everything with Apple, had to set up phone as a new phone and not install my backup. It worked.... until the next ISO13 update grrrr.
