Loved the video!💕 Just started my comic book collection and found Toon Haven. They offer a huge variety of digital comics for every genre, and lifetime updates too!😍
Great idea and work...one recommendation, if there is any light source in your room at all, to include incandescents, if you leave those first books up front over time they will start to degrade. I use regular comic boxes and put a board in front of the first book. The boards I had in the boxes over the years developed a significant yellow stain in the shape of the hole in the front of the box. You might consider photocopies of the books you want to display and put them behind your plexiglass...just a thought. Happy collecting!
The results are awesome. Functional and looks great, too. The only thing I would have recommended is a short platform underneath to get the comics up off the ground. I've had personal experience with a house flooding that ruined 1500 comics that I had in long boxes sitting on the floor. I never expected it to happen, but it did (pipe burst) and all it took was one single inch of water in the comic room to destroy 6-7 boxes worth of books.
Sucks to hear man. I've been planning out a permanent display for a while, and I do plan to start the comic storage at about knee height, doing a built-in wall cube setup. Figured that should keep me on the safe side. I'm also putting my high dollar raws into BCW stor-folios and plan to put them in storage bins so they can easily be taken out in the event of a fire, etc.
Finally, someone builds an honest to god system of drawers! I've always thought that a large collection ought to be held in some kind of filing cabinet system, but for comics. I'm hoping someone eventually gets the bright idea to somehow manufacture this kind of thing en masse.
I've been wanting to build something like this for awhile now. I like how these are separate sections and can be moved easily compared to something that all one piece.
Great work! I would probably start with a laminate or mellamine board though. It might be a little more expensive than plywood but you save a bunch of time not having to prime or paint and has smooth professional finish.
Amazing work! Love the end result and I definitely would've gone with black too....makes the colors from the comics pop. One day when I find the right space, I'll do this.
Nice work! I went a similar route, but commissioned a fine woodworker to build it for me. It's true furniture that fits anywhere in a room, like a good bookshelf, record cabinet, or bar. So frustrating that you can't just go to a store or order something out of a catalog.
Quite a few people on TH-cam have built these exact cabinets before. Even if he were the first, there's nothing patentable about a drawer cabinet that uses off-the-shelf parts. They do look good. They're just not unique.
@@NotSoAmazing thank you! Yeah we just went off other peoples designs and did our best to make them the best we could. We put our references in the description of the video. 😃
I've seen many of these. The first at Mile high comics. He/Chuck had several built on rollers, 4 boxes x 5 box cabinet that held like 4000 comics. He carried ten of these, 40' long, in a tractor trailer to SDCC for several years. You can check them out on the mile high TH-cam channel. His warehouse holds ten million comics.
This is amazing work! I've drawn up sketches and cut line plans for this and came across a snafu in the dimensions given in description. Could you help out with the correct width of the inside drawers please?
I am going to watch this later.....I'm very intrigued. I have some 55 000 comics....still have some space, but I like the way this looks. Already wondering how many are/can be stored in that wall section in the thumbnail.
@@aftacomics5865 that is very handy. We had to move them all when we turned that room into a D&D room. Then moved them back. One cabinet is still pretty heavy.😬
Thank you! It holds around 7,000 comic books. You could make the drawers longer by just altering the dimensions to your desired length. Thank you for watching! 😃
Thats an awesome setup!! Looks amazing! Would you share the measurements, wood, essentials to allow someone to build one as well? And about how much did it cost to build this?
Love this! I'm helping get a comic book store set up in my area and we would love something like this! Would you happen to have a link to a guide/tutorial, or would you be willing to share the dimensions of everything with me?😊
Amazing. Good job, but the cost of doing all this is probably more than the value of these comics in them. I would rather cut down my collection. But I would keep the favorite comics for easy access in these cabinets.
Thank you! It doesn’t tip at all. I haven’t tried to open all 4 drawers at the same time full of comics though. I usually only have 1 maybe 2 open at the same time.
I honestly don’t remember . But it wasn’t too bad. The self closing brackets were pretty expensive like $40 for 2 I think. They have a width limit of like 500lb. Lumber wasn’t too bad. I don’t have the receipts😅

Looks top notch. Great job. Question: How thick is the plywood? Looks like the drawer units are 1/2" while the frame is made out of 3/4". Hopefully that's right.
this is so sick! i personally don't collect comics, but if i did, you just gave me a new way to go about it. bravo mate.
