  • ✅ The engine firing order is 1-3-4-2
✅ The rotor always turns in a counter clockwise rotation
✅ The distributor shaft has an offset key-way, that mates into the oil pump, the oil pump is driven off the camshaft.
✅ when your motor is at top dead center (TDC) the distributor rotor should be at the 5 o'clock position or #1 ignition wire when the oil pump is clocked correctly
✅ If the timing marks on the flywheel do not show up when using a timing light, you could be 180 degrees out, easiest way is to move all the ignition wires in the distributor cap 180 degrees in any direction
✅ The tapered dowel pins on the crank to flywheel when in time should be at the 3 and 9 o'clock position
✅ Military flywheels have 4 timing marks, --ignition (5 degrees BTDC), --TDC or TC top dead center, --IO intake open, --EC exhaust closed
✅ Civilian flywheels have 2 timing marks, --TC, --5 degrees BTDC
