    Part 2: • BREAK 90 - Stop Sabota...
    B-Dog (formerly Brian) is back on the channel to show off how much better he is hitting the ball. Is it translating into better scores than 115 plus?
    You bet your bottom dollar it is.
    But we want to show you have to approach a round so you enjoy it. A big fallacy is that a guy playing off a certain handicap should be shooting his handicap every round to be legit.
    If you did that, you would be a plus handicap within 50 rounds.
    So here, B-Dog a 19 handicapper, shows us how to go about plotting your way through the course and highlighting areas to work on so you can take advantage of your new-found STRESSLESS lifestyle.

    1. Make it a par 90 course - just drop the ego, accept you are a 16-30 handicap and play the thing as a par 90.
    2. Yes you're hitting to the greens in one more than PROFESSIONAL regulation. You're not a pro. If you shoot 90, your handicap drops. And please avoid being confused that you will need to hit long shots into the greens for your approach. Often you can be greenside on a lot of holes and tae advantage of your length.
    3. So practice your short game so you can chip and putt and get below 90 in no time. Thre are holes where you will be hitting your third into par 4's with longer clubs, but there will be plenty where you can reach in two, but aren't too accurate. So learn to chip and putt like a screamin demon.
    4. Relax and stop hitting the ball hard knowing that par 3 turns into par 4, par 4 into par 5, and par 5 into par 6.
    5. Be super conservative and AVOID ALL HAZARDS! You don't need to lose balls with this system. It's so stress free.

    Following your system has now become a bit of second nature. On the 18th earlier this week, I needed to make a decent score, so instead of taking the 'big thtick", I took a 5 iron, a 7 iron and a 3/4 9 iron to put it on the green in regulation and I'M NOT EVEN A BIG HITTER!!! Two putts for a par on a hole that 3 weeks ago I double stroked. Since the return to golf after Covid-19 (in the UK), in a period of around 4 weeks, I have dropped my handicap from a 25, to a 22, to a 21, to a 18, just by starting to play clever (aka stress free) golf. Thanks for the system, Matt, you're a life saver!!

Worked a lot on my putting using your ruler method and now, inside of 90 yards, I feel like a baus. I've cut my handicap almost in half, down to 20. • @nebulonv6015
      @nebulonv6015 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@welcometoSL There's no benefit, per se, it's just that NORMALLY, steel shafted irons are stiffer. All I'm saying is his swing speed is such that he should be swinging stiffer shafts. I suppose, I should correct myself by saying "someone get this guy stiffer shafts." However there are such things now as stiff shaft graphite irons, but they're more of a rarity. Weaker shafts will promote a slice and he'll lose more balls right.

      Hey playa
      B Dawg uses the GPS which is often good for the middle of the green which is probably a better bet. I will actually do a video about this one day so we can compare!
      We don't have many caddies out here in Malaysia where B Dog is so he is using that GPS app with his Samsung wtch. I think it's a great tool. Most people should be hitting to back edge or middle of the green depending on where the hazards are

    Most mid to high handicappers I know aren’t good around the green. A typical hole for them would be a decent driver and a second shot somewhere around the green. They chip it then two putt for bogey. Maybe even a double or triple if they’re in a green side bunker or hit a really poor drive. If you want to lower your score, then you have to learn how to scramble. Bogey golf is a score of 90 (par 72). If you can scramble 4 pars, then that’s an 86. I’m a firm believer that you work on your game from the green to the tee, while many work on tee to green. Most golf ranges have short game areas that are always empty. When I first started in golf, I’d go to a very popular range that was always full. So to past time, I just paid the $5 an hour to enter the short game area where I was always alone. Worked in bunker play, chips and short pitches. Then I’d get to the range and hit about 60 balls then spent a half hour on the putting green. What do most people do? Hit a bucket then go home. My first time ever even getting on an 18 hole course, I shot a 95 because I was able to scramble. I was confident around the greens and in bunkers. High handicappers fear bunkers. I know single digit handicappers that would putt it out of a bunker if they could. After my first year of golf, I was shooting in the mid 80’s and I wasn’t a good ball striker. We’re all gonna hit a bad drive or a bad approach a few times in a round. It’s the ability to save par or even bogey that will lower those scores.

    Matt, would love to see a video dealing with...
    Full shots
    Side hill ball above feet.
    Side hill ball below feet.
    Ball sat up on fluffy rough shots (about 2cm above ground for example)
    Downhill lie (front foot lower than back foot)
    Uphill lie (reverse above)
    And chips from similar positions.
    These shots I have a lot of nervousness about. When it's sat up in the rough I tend to go straight under it 😂

    What are the actual rules on flags nowadays? Do you HAVE to leave it in, or is it just a free option? I ask because I play in Japan. And if nitpicky rules are broken here, so is your life. BTW, do come for a round here for another Asian course comparison. - Mike

    • @GolfSidekick
      @GolfSidekick  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Free option usually but because of the seasonal flu panic, you aren’t allowed to touch them despite the pins standing in full sun 36° C heat. But then, I’m not a scientist just a thinking person. lol
