The backhand of Felix is unreal, the way he returns the ball is pretty rare even among Asaian players since it is pretty late invension to use the penhold back like that. He is very confident and I have know idea who taught him this?
Ironically, with Xu Xin retiring and penhold style dying out in Asian, two EU penholders are stepping up, carrying the last hope of this once glorious grip style. What an inspiring game Felix has played against the most promising young player in Moregard.
Is there an app or something where I can get all the news about TT because I can't find one. They have some good apps for Football and I stay updated and I'd like to do the same with TT. Like I didn't know that Xu Xin retired.
@@light8514 It hasn't been announced that Xu Xin retired. But his name didn't appear in CNT's new coaches/players arrangements(which shows CNT's each player is in which coach's training team. FZD is now in Liu Heng's, and LJK is still in Liu Zhiqiang's, etc. CNT works in that way). So it could be sure that Xu Xin will not take part in international stage as CNT's players anymore, but he still plays in Chinese Nationals and China Super League. I think it could be said that Xu Xin retired the same way as Koki Niwa recently did.
It is surprising to see a penhold player, not an Asian, to become a world-class player. More amazing is that not many current Asian penholders are competing nowadays. There is a distinct advantage from a penholder is the service. Felix'backhand is better than both Ma Lin and Ryu Seung Min but he should study Ma Lin's service game and the forehand/footwork of Ma Lin and Ryu Seung Min. I hope Felix will advance to one day become a WTTC singles champion.
Those two and the other Lebrun brother can dominate Europe for years to come, not sure if Dan Qiu is there as well, but nice to watch and see once the legends and old boat players are sailing away forever.
I feel that european players like Truls, Jorgic, Dan Qiu and the Lebrun brothers represent a new wave that could handle their asian counterparts. It's about time when you think that Vladimir Samsonov retired and that both Timo and Dima are getting older ( mostly Timo unfortunately 🥺).
@@Collector731 So you mean he better move to Asia part then? Well, China players who didn't left and change their nationality will always shine and dominate one way or another, not to Europe but even to Asia itself, i mean look at Japan, Korea, Chinese copies, Taiwan, Singapore,...etc, almost none can stop China, they win one or two here and there, but at the end the grand slams and even Olympics since several years is the China specialty, don't tell me about counterpart or even replica or aliens.
@@TareqAstroPhoton Not if Ma Long left Team China. Mr. Ma can really tip the scale. The reason why the Chinese players represented other teams didn't do good is because they were the defects of the Chinese TT system. Have you heard of 2 women players, He Zhi Li or Deng Ya Ping? Deng won 3 ITTF Singles Championships in 8 years and was practically unbeatable within that timespan. He Zhi Li didn't compete for 5 years and was around 30 years old. He Zhi Li represented Japan at the Asian Games. Deng Ya Ping ran into this aging champion, He Zhi Li. The result was a 3 straight-game defeat for the mighty Deng Ya Ping. Just to remind you, He Zhi Li was the 1987 ITTF Singles Champion. In 1989, she was kicked out of the Chinese National Team.
Lebrun was great. High speed all through the match. Truls seem to have problems with players with a good backhand loop while he countrrplay with a more flathit backhand. His forehand and overall-game though is superb. Hope Truls will develop a spinny and fast backhand.
Truls allowed himself to be dictated to by Felix...Chinese coaches and players (as well as savvy Europeans like Ovtcharov) know that Felix intentionally rushes to serve, and will periodically slow him down, but Truls did not once hold up his hand to make Felix wait for him, so Truls never settled down and Felix got him out of there in 4 games.
Moregard became to play uneffective style : he very often makes very fast extreme speedy strokes but with very low effectiveness (very high percent of failed balls). Thus he loses. But even if suppose that Moregard can win more game with his very fast extreme speedy strokes, then table tennis sport must change rule by using more lightweight balls to force air slow down balls. Because if Moregard can win with fast extreme speedy strokes at first balls, then other players will also can win with these style, and the consequence is that there will be no gameshow and no physical sport exercises in table tennis, because after services there will be fast extreme speedy balls to stop episodes : no rallies, less techniques, but require more reaction, less ongame playing time, but more offgame time for go picking balls. The ITTF must set ball weight to smaller, so that players must use combined techniques and combination to win points, instead of just use reaction.
Even both lefties, Lebrun is no where near XuXin. Sadly we have no chance to watch him live on court now. Moregard is very technically capable but he is uncomfortable against penholder & RPB, especially from a leftie. Lebrun plays a near table game with fast counters while Moregard is used to mid/far table rallies. If Lebrun can get Chinese RPB experts coaching, he could be a lot better. Love to see penholders play. While most shakehand serves are longer, short penhold serves with variable wrist actions can setup 3rd ball attack/kill to avoid mid/long table counters/rallies which favour shakehanders. After all, don't get me wrong, Moregard would give XuXin a lot of work, by theory. This time LeBrun's peculiar RPB spin and timing caused the upset. Guess Moregard will know exactly what to do next encounter, watch out.
Thing the problem with truls is that he ended up back playing for eslov.. where most of the players are shitty. He win 3-0 and doesnt even try. He should really go back into german league and fight with the best. He can retire in 10 years time anyways..
Сказать что Трулс меня расстроил, ничего не сказать. Лебран мне не нравится совсем, в матче с Овчаровым соплей понавешал кучу, и в этом матче вначале тоже самое. Считаю что просто Трулс был не в форме и всё.

More mature, less screaming after the points.
