When Instacart changed in Canada and forced you to be within a certain kilometre radius of the stores was ridiculous. Prior to that update I could be efficiently using my time; post update I had to wait in the parking lots of these places waiting for orders to pop up.
LOVE reading the positive comments. I live in Detroit and I feel there is potential to make a full time income. Just tired of working for other people. I can create a real business with this, so I am learning from others. Thank you commenters and video makers!
Definitely worth it if you’re in a decent market. It’s been my main source of income for 4 years. Some people don’t like it because the extra steps involved providing this service and some aren’t patient enough when it comes to waiting for orders. Diamond status is a must if you want to be a successful full timer for sure and you do need to be at the stores waiting or at least within 1-4 miles from the most popular ones. As you shop more and more orders you’ll start gaining priority to get those repeat customers that tip well too. Otherwise, people might say it’s not worth it, because they just don’t know how good it can be if they only waited 20 minutes and feel like they’re wasting their time already

I agree 100% have to hit Diamond status to be worth it. I’m in the Houston market and can usually do around $250 a day for 6-8 hours. Batches usually pay anywhere between $25-$100 and mileage at most for me is around 8-10 miles. All shopping at Kroger,HEB,Petco and some Costco.
@@JJC1023_YT nah Diamond status did absolutely nothing for my earnings. Priority access seems fake, i might get 1 once a week or every 2 weeks. Ive been diamond for 6 months
Definitely worth it. In my market, 60-75% of income comes from instacart. Love being able to make more money in less miles and having control over how much it takes to complete orders as opposed to waiting for food delivery.
I do it from time to time. If you’re selective you can end up with around $30 a hour on average. Sometimes you can make more if you get a Target, Sam’s or Costco. But you need to be in the right area at the right time. Night in the cold is busy.
I haven’t done instacart for a couple years. Back when I did it, the customer was able to change the tip amount AFTER the items were delivered. I did a Costco order once that had a $20 tip. I invested 70 minutes into getting to Costco, shopping and delivery. The customer took away the tip after and I only received the $25 normal cost. That was my last instacart I did.
Im sure they can still do that, I been tip baited 3 times on uber eats, kids and 1 old 68 yr old lady that chatted my ears off bringing her wine! I heard worse storys of a guy driving 50 miles for a 100 dollar tip on groceries and they took away the tip!!!
Tell me about it, I had this happen to me twice and I had to stop myself from going back to their home to avoid being in social media f#$ing something or someone up. I reported both. I want them both to get me again so I can shop the whole time and cancel with something is wrong with my car to take all of their groceries
yeah of course they can? I don't see the point of a tip BEFORE getting delivered because you can't see if they fucked something up yet. do you tip your waiter before getting your food too?
These days, Instacart is best used as a right-place-right-price dash tool.... Walgreens, Petsmart, 7-eleven, etc. Those $14, 11 mile triple batches aren't near worth it.
Hello I would like to say I ha e been an instacart shopper since 2021, and I've been a diamond shopper for like forever now, and I have yet to get priority batches or see batches even before a store opens, lies! Now this year instacart has been really bad, last couple years I was making at least from $800-$1000/wk and this year I'm lucky if I make $500, that's a drastic cut in pay!!!
Instacart at wholesales like Costco, BJ’s and Sam’s have many high paying orders a day. Some ranging from $50 to $100 and some even over $100 and $200 per batch. Of course almost the whole pay is costumers tip.
Shopping for Instacart is worth it if you're quick on the trigger by keeping your app open and looking at it. And opting in for prescription delivery, frozen items & alcohol shop and deliver has good money in it.
1/2 My shopping request are canceled by the customer because store has limited stock, I get 0 compensation and actually when I do shopping I’m not doing massive time consuming bulk, all my requests that I determined if it’s worth the travel time tip and pay plus there are tip baiters I’ve lost even though I get everything from the store to them on time I still loose money example - I went $10.00 for 4 items 2 miles, I delivered no issues I check all expiration dates and communicate with customers , Uber sends me notification of customer decided to tip you $4 instead, multi apping hasn’t helped me much but I continue onward
I see a lot of promos for Sunday afternoons between like 4-8pm and it’s $4 extra an order. I started doing instacart a month ago and have only done 5 orders. I don’t get a ton per order but it sucks that I’m seeing orders where the store is nearby but then the customer is 30 miles away! I just don’t want to make the trip and pay the gas for a $20 order. I am learning and stay local to a few stores and wait for 2 shops and deliver for at least $25
Yesterday was the worst day on Instacart. Says 9 miles between 2 batch. 2nd back took me 65 miles out to another State! I was furious! Not that ai can just pull over and stop to talk an agent on the highway. They didn't give me an explanation or even compensate me for the unnecessary miles! Had to cancel. No address, no customer..NADA
When looking at bonuses and incentives, it’s important to keep in mind that Instacart considers a batch to be one order even if it’s bundled so if you get a double it’s considered one batch. So a guarantee of 60 dollars for six batches would be 6 that you accept NOT 6 deliveries necessarily
@@AlwayzMedicated901he talking about promos dawg do 6 orders for a $60 guarantee excluding tips. Each batch you accept counts as 1 order even if that batch had 3 people in it so single orders would make more sense for any promo.

I’m diamond status with Instacart. Really the only thing that makes it worth it is the priority offers. That comes in handy on slow days. Although other diamond shoppers still beat me to an offer.
The only way this works is if its a one item one customer fare or its a preferred customer where you know what and who your shopping for. Too many variables to go wrong.
My market is worth it. Lots of rich wasp types. 8-25 items shopped. Typically get $20. I’ve had promo pay $8. Everything is a mile or 4 away. It’s way better than ue and dd here.

One of the reasons I don't do Instacart more often is because they like to batch 2 or even 3 orders together almost every time. I'm lucky if I see 2 or 3 out of a 100 offers that's a single and not in another city. My minimum I'll even think about accepting on a double is around $20.
These hurts any promotions too. Plus at lake it’s so spreed out. I did few gig rides tried to stay in specific area vs going back and forth. Hyvee manager said Friday there was boast bc lack drivers but I didn’t shop bc of weather just fixing breaks 😢
If you accept a batch with 2 or 3 orders and don't like 1 of them, contact support and ask them to remove that particular order and do the other 2. No worries. I've done this for 4 years. It may be an order that is too far, a bad neighborhood, or an item that is too heavy like Kroger 40 ct bottled water. I've never had an issue with a removal of an order from a multi order batch. Hope this helps you out. 😊😊
A lot comes down to the area you are in and the financial demographics of the area. the Instacart pay is terrible. The tips are where you make it. I like Instacart but my standards are too high so I do not take a lot of orders.
Thanks for all your advice Mike. I just recently started DoorDashing, and when it's good, it's GOOD... but also some really bad offers/days as well. As a newbie, at first I was taking everything, but as I'm learning now I'm being more selective. After watching this vid I signed up for Instacart. I do like shopping and am very familiar with most of the stores near me. Hopefully it's profitable. But worried about a possible 4 cases of Costco water up 4 flights of stairs. I'm an old fart. LOL.
I took 2 cases of 24bottles water 3 floors all at once one time. I was so tired that I sat in my car for a good 10 minutes for my heart rate to go down and out of breath.
You can always easily cancel an Instacart order before starting to shop, if the items don't look hassle-free. Also, you can block customers if the order is too much hassle and you don't want to see their future orders.
Instacart I find ok but time consuming to do the shopping. Yet I’m close to tourist area so I did some instacart and Uber eats and door dash on Saturday but none Fri. I was told my only manager they could use my help on Friday and I could made a lot bc of holiday weekend. Some batches are small easy but some are huge. Good thing they’ll covering the tip. I won’t do long haul trips going out of my delivery area bc of mileage and not guaranteed a trip on return back
A manager of a Starbucks ordered 25 gallons of milk from a Food Lion near me. I've never seen that much milk in my life, it filled up the cart to the brim, weirdest order I've had doing Instacart so far
This just popped up in my feed but I work at a package store and I hate instacart drivers. It seems like none of you know how to shop, 99% of the time they walk in the door do a very quick once over of the store (from the door) and walk straight to me shoving a phone in my face saying they need these items.
I noticed their phone number to try to contact them when you run into an issue is unavailable from the app. So you cant get help. If you call the number on the internet, no avail either. One other thing I noticed say for example you accepted a request and while you are picking the items for that customer they add wihout your consent another customer to you order, saying that x-tra earnings but i did not noticed the extra-earnings for that second request they added. You have to do a lot of walking, sometimes is not easy to find the items. Costco I been told by employees that they change the locations of items constantly. The gas is quite an expense and I feel most of these places are lowering the pay for the trips so it can be discouraging at times.
10 mins really bro? It takes at least 15-30 mins to get one and also depends on how many shoppers. I’m in Cali we get large orders here. Let’s be real nobody’s taking a 5$ order we get 15-160$ orders
I have been signed in all day every day and get a handful of batches after 6 pm. I don’t have the credit card activated yet, so I can only do Apple Pay. Will I get more batches after the card comes in the mail?
I'm platinum status and it seems like I get les and less payment per batch. I HAVE TO DRIVE 30 MINS TO GET FAR DELIVERY ORDERS AND THE TIP IS HIGHER BECAUSE OF THAT BUT C'MON NOT WORTH IT SOME TIMES.
In New Orleans been doing it since 2021 it’s beginning to be trash and not worth it I feel like summer time slows it down and also I think they have 2 many drivers the options are watered down the few that u do see it’s about to be time for me to switch it up
I’ll never do Instacart trying to push around 3 shopping carts at once’s is BS that big of an order should never happen and we are paid to little to do it. Insticart 1 star . + tip baiter central.
I've been on a waitlist for a year here in N. County San Diego 🙄 I am a dasher as well as UE. I'm hoping to get in the instacart door via UE 😁 thx for all your videos. Enjoy them. I've been following you since you lived in SD 🌞
I get the feeling that after a merger, UE will just redirect IC customer orders to UE drivers as they did with Drizly. With that said..I much more desire the shopping experience on UE as their app interface is far more advanced than IC. They also seem to have much better access to the inventory database of most national stores. IC just ain't the platform it once was 😔
I had someone not respond to me and the store I was at had no bags of limes, but the customer approved a replacement of 1 single lime. when I delivered to the location, found out that it was a restaurant... ops
When they need drivers the pay is good on the apps, when they have a million drivers then it sucks. Some apps will pay u good in the start to hook u and then lower and lower and test u of what the limits are that u will accept! But most drivers in my market dont use a red card on DD and told me it sucks. Why shop for 10 items for 5 dollars going 2 miles when u can just deliver a burger for 7 dollars going 2 miles....
its very cheap , you will end up very tired , they order very heavy items like water, and all badges are only 25 to 30 dollars tagged as "heavy pay" for 9 miles 2 customers, very inconvient, the queues are very long at costco, probably the persons that talk good about instacart are hired to do thar 30 dollard for 2 hours of your time is not worth , plus gasoline, no way
NO it’s not worth it. It can take a few hours to do one shop. Wear and tear on your vehicle. Then at times there will be items that the grocery store doesn’t have and you need to contact the customer that does not answer there phone. If you don’t get an item they wanted they can report that and then you end up not getting batches because your ratings dropped DUE TO customers not answering their phones !!! I did it in a pinch but it’s horrible !!!
Hmm. If you want some extra cash it may be okay, but honestly most of the time counting time, gas, vehicle maintenance you won’t be making even minimum wage. In your area may be better. I think you need to work to diamond status to get access to better orders. So before you get to those nice costumers you need to deliver lots of orders. So if you have patience, it may be worth it. But I can’t tell you that yet because I’m not there myself.
Not worth it you have to pay a lot in taxes. They do not pay for your parking tickets if you get a parking ticket. The most they try to compensate you with five or $10 which is not nothing. do not work for this company waste of your time and trust me a lot of wear and tear on your vehicle they contradict themselves. They do not have a stable, organized structure, unprofessional unorganized
Only Do Instacart if you are extremely desperate for money. Expect to make about $10 per hour (Washington DC area) But If you live in California where the labor laws are on your side, you can make good money.
Mike instacart is not that great anymore. Pay was cut by 2.00 last year. Also diamond status just means those shoppers see all the orders at one time those orders. The good and the crappy. Also 1 shop 1 customer ia rere now. Most batches are 2 or 3 customers in one batch. Its not the best shipt is better
Door Dash shop and deliver is doing more and more double batches and/or shop for one customer and pick up a restaurant order for another customer (which is stupid - opportunity for that restaurant order to sit there and get ice cold) and/or shop and restaurant order for the same customer (so potential for less in the tip). These types of offers lets DD save on paying base pay for two different offers.
You can contact support and have any order removed thats in your batch 🤪 1. Remove order 2. Specific order 3. I select "no reason" 3 times 4. Connect to specialist 5. I immediately type in chat the customer letter and name I want to keep and the one I want to get rid of. 6. Support asks for a reason 7. I decline to give a reason 8. Support removes the order I requested 9. I give support 5 stars and end the chat.
Yeah, been thinkin that myself if my buddy doesnt hire me. Maybe do sales and sell cars or something etc... Just do some gig work for a little extra side cash
If you don’t have a reliable, efficient beater car, you’re better off doing a 9-5 job. I tried using my low milage, mint condition 2016 Honda civic ex-l, now it’s all busted up and will need to put most of my profits just to fix up the car. It drives like crap now.
@@ChickenThug55 Tell me about it, I sold a 2019 Ford Ranger to buy a 2013 hybrid so I could afford to do gig work and profit. I had to dump 4,650 dollars into a recall with ford on the axel raq n pinion etc... Plus used tireds for 350 with 80% tread and brake pads for 120 dollars too all with in 6 months!! 44 thousand miles when I bought and now up to 75 thousand miles in almost 8 months!!!!
I'm glad people are realizing Instacart is slave labor. I've been doing it for 2 years now and recently for about 3 mos since Feb of 2024, it has really been awful. Went from making close to $800/WK to now barely $400/WK. They give awful miles with 2 or 3 customer orders for low pay. Literally have to sit hours to get something good to avoid wasting my gas. I have interviews coming now and I can't wait to work a regular job
They must have or using a new system out. Just recently been flagged for having low quality receipt photos so just precaution for those out there that have to take photos of their receipts from the store to make sure that they are good "high quality" photo. I don't know if the system that they have now is overly sensitive but all the ones I have taken were good, in focus, and readable. Has anyone ran into this issue?

You can always easily cancel an Instacart order before starting to shop, if the items don't look hassle-free. Also, you can block customers if the order is too much hassle and you don't want to see their future orders.
@@MikeTalk if I thumbs down a customer, does that block them?
@@mollysreadings4845 thumbs down, select rude, select block
@@MikeTalk thank you!
8 lbs puts it into heavy pay qualify. You need 48 lb heavy qualifying items for heavy pay
Spark is killing Instacart in my area.
How much does it change your opinion including things such as prop 22 in California? Shop time is paid time. Texting/calling customer is paid time.
Man I did it years back the money was good
Instacarts issue is the customers and ratings, they also me we exactly tell you your route
10 mins really bro? It takes at least 15-30 mins to get one and also depends on how many shoppers. I’m in Cali we get large orders here. Let’s be real nobody’s taking a 5$ order we get 15-160$ orders
I’m not an instacart shopper because I’ve been on the shoppers waiting list for about almost 3 years now.
I been on the waitlist for 8 months almost, yet I see migrants get accepted right away as Ive spoken to them while Im shoppin on DD..
@@danguts2844 Well isn’t that’s telling. Thanks for the info.
@@danguts2844I got accepted and I'm white
I have been signed in all day every day and get a handful of batches after 6 pm. I don’t have the credit card activated yet, so I can only do Apple Pay. Will I get more batches after the card comes in the mail?
I'm platinum status and it seems like I get les and less payment per batch. I HAVE TO DRIVE 30 MINS TO GET FAR DELIVERY ORDERS AND THE TIP IS HIGHER BECAUSE OF THAT BUT C'MON NOT WORTH IT SOME TIMES.
I’m on instacart wait list
I did Instacart BEFORE they got caught with their hands in the till .... pay got slashed after that and I never did it again
Heavy pay is not setup how you explained. It takes 3+ pieces of 8LBS to reach 50 LBS plus, if you search it youll see, it is BS
signed up 2 months ago in Edmonton. Been on waitlist ever since.
Showing yhe distance before you actually fully accept it
I just started doing it again after a 3 year hiatus and the 2 or 3 orders in one is the worst. How do they expect one person for that
in my area there showing double batches and 1/4 pay
Would you spark and Instacart at the same time?
You are aware that no apps currently have openings waiting list is ridiculous
Solid vid. Preciate you
I’d love to do Instacart BUT I’ve been waitlisted for a while now. Which sucks.
What is the dollars to mile ratio? Can you explain it in the comments not wanting to buy the spreadsheet
Thanks for the info
This sounds like a big city gig more than a small college town gig that I live in.
I’d rather make my dollar goal quicker with food delivery. The shopping kills time.
Mike how long did it take for you to get off the dlivrd waitlist? I am multi apping and multi niching like you say and that is the only app i need

I’m on a waitlist for DoorDash and spark
I was on in 2020 never got a offer so I chose a w2 job
I had someone not respond to me and the store I was at had no bags of limes, but the customer approved a replacement of 1 single lime. when I delivered to the location, found out that it was a restaurant... ops
Instacart isn't popular in my area. Tried it once for a few weeks. Customer tips were horrible and payout wasn't worth it.
1:14 why these gigtubers want to ruin what's already going down lol it's already over saturated I can barely get an order on IC
Mike you said a whole lot of nothing
its very cheap , you will end up very tired , they order very heavy items like water, and all badges are only 25 to 30 dollars tagged as "heavy pay" for 9 miles 2 customers, very inconvient, the queues are very long at costco, probably the persons that talk good about instacart are hired to do thar 30 dollard for 2 hours of your time is not worth , plus gasoline, no way
True!
Try instacarting at Costco in the waterfront
Can this be a good temporary gig for the unemployed and the retired?
Expect to make about $10 per hour (Washington DC area) But If you live in California where the labor laws are on your side, you can make good money.
who's doing instacart in tampa area ? is it worth it?
I just started today doing my first delivery rn i lyk
Digital wallet no longer works
Mannnn i miss amazon flex... -_-' got foking deactivated cuz i was late
I never get 1.75 a mile lol I’m lucky to get 1.

Great so my client can 0.01 cent their tip and I still lose
I have shipt, but I see nothing but routes to drop off to 20 customers, I been lookin at them and would rather just do shop orders
@@danguts2844 i wish my market was busier with shipt
You can contact support and have any order removed thats in your batch 🤪
1. Remove order
2. Specific order
3. I select "no reason" 3 times
4. Connect to specialist
5. I immediately type in chat the customer letter and name I want to keep and the one I want to get rid of.
6. Support asks for a reason
7. I decline to give a reason
8. Support removes the order I requested
9. I give support 5 stars and end the chat.
No it's not worth it. Get a 9-5.
Just do the gig when you’re bored, need to get some gas money or need some cash to buy some food on the side. Def not worth doing FT.
Has anyone ran into this issue?
wich app is similar to walmart spark wich showes aisle and row wich makes graping things easily?
I was only on the waitlist for a few months
My last order they put a 5 lb bag of flour on top my loaf of bread. The entire loaf was flat as a pancake !
Lol no tip for them!
