    This video will teach you why you need to see a specialist for your injuries and NOT your primary care physician.
    The first and most important thing to do is seek a doctor right away. Waiting days, weeks, or months could result in permanent impairment or worse. It's never a good idea to put your health on the back burner, especially after a traumatic event like a car crash.
    A big mistake most people make is going solely to their primary care doctor. It's fine to see your primary doctor, but do not rely only on them. They are not specialized to treat injuries caused by car accidents. Ask to be referred to a specialist so you can get proper treatment and increase your chances of healing from the injury.
    Another reason to seek treatment from a specialist is the quality of their medical records. If you bring a personal injury claim, the value of your case in the insurance companies' eyes will be based on the quality of the medical records your doctors produce.
    Insurance companies know that most people don't know how to find a doctor after a car accident that will help them prove the extent and severity of their injuries. Specialists know the games that insurance companies play and can adequately document your condition in a way the insurance company can understand.
    When you finally find a specialist to treat your injuries, make sure you tell them about ALL of your prior injuries and pre-existing conditions. If you fail to mention something from the past, the insurance company will assume that you lied to your doctor and make a big deal about it during your case. Also, pre-existing injuries will help your case, not hurt it. People with previous injuries and pre-existing conditions are easier to hurt and harder to fix.
    Once you begin treatment with your specialists, keep treating. Do not allow gaps in your treatment to occur. If you do, the insurance company will assume you were lying about being hurt because you stopped treating your injuries. Hurt people seek treatment. If you are not hurt, that is great and consider yourself very fortunate. If you are hurt, then you need to put your health first and follow a regimented treatment plan with your specialists.
    If you can't afford a specialist, there are some that will treat you if you have a good personal injury lawyer. These doctors will agree to treat you and wait to be paid at the end of your case. Lawyers can help you find the right experts to document your injuries, harms, and losses.

    Isn't interesting that in the ER they said to follow up with primary doctor for whiplash injuries. I had to pay out if pocket for specialist. Most attorneys turned me down when I asked for specialist say it's biased. Hence my primary has difficulty find specialist.

      +MattLaw I havent no luck w attorneys. i am dont think its a fair offer. i was found by my lawyer after seeing the specialists. if the Dr says that the injuries are from the accodent. They would send another offer. but instead they refuse to do it. and is,mailing a release. and said you can either sign the release or get another lawyer. i was asking for another offer cause i havent i havent been able to work for close to 3 years. Doctors have a problem diagnosing patients that have a attorney. Like my doc wouldn't say rather my injuries were related .he said I might be telling the truth are I maybe lieing.

      Some doctors will go out of their way to avoid getting involved in a law suit. They can oftentimes hurt your case because they just don't want to be bothered with litigation. They may hate to give a deposition or be called to trial, so they don't put much into the medical records in hopes they won't be called at all. This is a good reason to find a specialist doctor who won't be afraid to tell a jury about your injuries caused by the accident.

    Question: the "life care plan" the MD doctor that evaluates the future medical needs, will they be the ones that gets all of you're medical records and sums up the medical portion of a case? Example in a slip and fall case a client had 2 Torn meniscus surgery and 3 cortisone shot in the back/knee now the doctors are saying the client will need both totally knee replacement and back surgery, will the "life care planner" put everything from the beginning of treatment to the future treatment together as one so the lawyer can have an idea of what the medical portion pay will be? Thank you

      If you use an MD to create a life care plan, they review all of your medical records, and they may perform an examination of you as well. They usually prepare a report that lists the different types of medical treatments you will need. The frequency of the treatments, the duration of the treatments or therapies, and the costs of them. They might have an opinion about the past medical expenses, or they might not. Good luck with your case. Matt

    what about "no visible or noticeable injury"? I quote that because I don't really feel like I am actually injured. I hit someone's car from the back and wrecked the front of my car. she suddenly stopped then I tried to stop but couldn't and hit her at maybe 15-20mph(could be less I am not really sure). in this kind of uncertain situation, what kind of doctor should I go to? will an MRI show if any possible injury?

    • @MattlawAttorney
      @MattlawAttorney  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, if you are not injured, you are lucky. If you are concerned that you might be injured, I suggest you go to a doctor in your area that handles accident victims as patients. You might try an urgent care center, or a chiropractic physician, or even your own primary care doctor. Good luck to you. And I hope you are fine.

    I got a hernia from a rearend accident.

    • @MattlawAttorney
      @MattlawAttorney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      That is a serious injury and unfortunately common. However, you need to make sure your doctors document the cause of your hernia in their records. Good luck in making a full recovery.

    I really found your videos very helpful. What is the name of a Dr that treats your injuries from a car accident?
    is there anything I can do if there is a little gap of treatment?

    • @MattlawAttorney
      @MattlawAttorney  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Laura, I can't name any specific doctors that treat our clients. Each client picks their own doctor. Fortunately in Florida there are many good doctors to choose from.
      A small gap in treatment is not a big deal. Just make sure you tell your doctors why you had a gap. This helps everyone know and understand why you had a gap in treatment. Some gaps are for important things like having a baby, or a trip that has been planned a long time. Just make sure your doctors know why you had a gap and it should help explain to the insurance adjuster why you had a gap. Good luck. Matt

    Can you go to a nurse practitioner?

    • @MattlawAttorney
      @MattlawAttorney  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, you can go to any health care professional you like. However, the insurance industry will put more value or weight on some professionals over others.
